It's disgusting really, it makes me angry to watch this..We landed people on the moon in 19 freaking 69, over 40 years ago..40 FREAKING YEARS. Where are we now ? SSI ? Still orbiting the planet like a bunch of fools..and we've spent trillions fightng wars, bailing out corrupt bankers..TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS, that we could have used to develop these technologies, send people back to the moon and establish a base..get to mars, space colonies..2010 = NOTHING . "SSI"..still in earth orbit. PATHETIC.

@chrismart2008 What does the surface of Jupiter look like? It doesn't have a surface, or what we think of a surface as defined on earth. Jupiter could have a core of metallic hydrogen (that's not solid) or there is nothing there, like if we send a probe in it would just fly threw the planet. It's almost proven Jupiter is just made up of gases held together by gravity.
@chrismart2008 There is no way to find out what's in the middle of Jupiter because the few probes we have sent into Jupiter don't even make it in 1% of the way in before they are crushed and vaporize by Jupiter massive amounts of gravity and heat.
@chrismart2008 Jupiter doesn't have surface (land). Jupiter is gas giant with massive core that is in luquid state because of enormouse pressure at Jupiter's core. The reason any probe sent there would be crushed is Jupiter's immense gravity and pressure of its atmosphere. Further you go into it, the pressure builds up and eventually becomes so strong that it liquifies its metalic core.
@chrismart2008 Jupiter doesn't have land - it's more or less a ball of hyodrogen compounds, with a small rocky core. (That's why it it so much bigger than Earth but only has about 2.3 times the gravity.)
In space, you need to expend energy (=fuel) both to speed up and then to slow down once you've arrived at your destination, because there is no friction to slow you down. So, the faster you travel, the more fuel you need to stop and go to orbit around your target planet.
One way around this is to plunge into the target planet's atmosphere and let the friction slow you down. That way you don't need to burn any fuel at all (but you need a VERY good heatshield :-D ).
That sound generated from Jupiter, if you look it up, isn't naturally audible to the human ear. Those sounds were slowed down, i supposed, to another sample rate, and stretched to so that those frequencies could be heard.
When i saw that pilot go for that button it kind of looked like he has soundfx built into the cockpit. How convenient! haha!
its exciting to believe we can have manned missions on the planets not just the rocky planets but all the gas planets too. technology has come a long way
the magnetosphere of jupiter is no way bigger than the sun, it's just twenty times stronger than the earth's one but that's nothing compared to the sun.
i meant that the magnetosphere from jupiter is not bigger than the one from the sun. the magnetosphere from jupiter is bigger than the sun as a star, so don't misunderstand me.
this is realy good this i rememba watching it on tv but when they go through jupiter if we did do that in real life we would get compleatly squashed from the g foreces ENYWAY GREAT VID :P
Does someone know how to make effect like 2:24?

I don't really understand why exactly they would want to plunge into Jupiter, thats suicide.

what did they do to the solar panels? Did they fold them back or completly removed them (to pick them up again later) ?
