  • thanks a lot man

  • awesome I tried it out and sounds awesome!! One question tho---you know in dubstep the wobble speed changes...can you change it while recording, like with a control knob assigned to do that? I am using an M-Audio keyboard keyrig25

    thanks for posting this!!!

  • @joejumps4fun

don't know if you can do that on garageband, only know how it works on logic or ableton.

  • @Bendtovich just download NI Massive... get a shit ton of plug-ins for garageband..... and make better dubstep. DONE!

  • @Fraxxure

aight ima check that shit out, but i don't really work with garageband anymore only for recording audio. i make music with logic expres

  • @Bendtovich Well then replace the "garageband" in my comment with "logic express"

(Logic Pro is better for music production, Express is better for recording)

  • @Fraxxure

wish i had the money for pro

  • @Bendtovich

    torrent that shit.

  • @Fraxxure

    sshhh cyberpolice is watching

  • @Bendtovich lol ikr

  • @joejumps4fun An easy way to change the speed of the wobbles is to view the automation for the track, go to "add automation", click on automatic filter then hit speed. You'll be able to change the speed at whatever part of the wobble that you want.

    Cheers.

  • @x7xthesaintx7x goooood looks you just sloved my problem

  • @joejumps4fun you can use the automatic filter in garageband to change the speed. You would have to preset it though.

  • hey cheers for making this vid, i used it to help me make a song on garageband last night :) it was an attempt at dubstep but it has a lot of trance so i called it Trance-Step.

Take a look and tell me what you think :) its on my channel.

  • how do you record the video from your computer...?

great vid by the way! :)

  • cheers, this helped me alot, thanks :D

  • how do you make that keyboard pop up around 1:05?

I saw "Venster" being clicked but I don't see that on mine.

  • @Daxter82690

    Cmd + shift + 'K'

  • @Bendtovich you can just do cmd + K

  • @Daxter82690 Ye it is in dutch , but you can show that keyboard with CMD+K

  • this is sick yo

    check my shit using garageband

  • Extremely useful video. Thanks!

  • Thanks a lot for this help, you can see my first creation on my videos

  • just like tek one shit right there!

  • thank you

  • welke versie van garageband is dit wan mijne is helemaal anders

  • @crystalshotgaming

    Leopard versie

  • @crystalshotgaming

    Leopard versie

  • i got one hell of a tip for ya, just don´t use garage band and get logic pro

  • @TheQriz

Yes, but you got to understand that this is for people who don't want to start with big programs and want to start simple.

Garageband is a great program to begin with, I know there are way better programs to make dubstep with then garageband.

I also wanted show with this vid that there's more possible with a simple program like garageband then people think.

  • @TheQriz Yeah, but you have to think of the prce difference.

  • dude you fucking rock! thank you soooooo much. I'll be sure to give you a link when i make track out of this!!!!!!!!!

  • Eeeeeh :( mine doesn't have any sound? I've done everything exactly as in the video, but when i play the keyboard piano, there is no sound.. :( And there's nothing wrong with my speakers ;)

  • @Teacup2610 sometimes that happens if the filter is on too fast.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! THIS WAS SO HELPFUL!! THANKS AGAIN!! 5 out of 5

  • i dont understand, the peak of my wobble doesnt come on the downbeat of each quarter note, it comes like 3/4ths of the way into a quarter note, sounds off beat, how do i fix that?

  • @jaydubs19208

Honesty, I don't know. I'm not a musician, but I don't know if this will help but you can check the "scissor" sign in the bottom left. click on it.

Then chose "Piano roll" and then the last option "Improve timing".

  • i learnt how to do it watching this vid, if anyone is unsure on how to do it watch my trance dubstep song, it may help

  • You are my hero now. I'm going to mess with this thing until i get the perfect "grind".

    All credit to you, sir.

  • so how do u actually RECORD the wobble, it works when I play around in the AUTOMATIC FILTER menu but if I record, it doesn't show up?

  • Make sure, the Wobble bass is saved as an instrument call it " Wobble" or something like that.

then click on the "+" choose the first one (the piano) then pic your instrument: "wobble" , press cmd + shift + k then pres the red "O" and start typing your music, make sure that your instrument is marked.

  • @Bendtovich thanks man, really appreciate the answer but what I mean is at 55 seconds ur chaning the SPEED, if u do this while holding a key on the keyboard u can actually hear the WOBBLE (changing)

But when recording u just get loose "bass" keys instead of the actual wobble. So i need to know how you can record the change of SPEED? Cause that does the trick right?

    Peace!

  • Ye, I've tried to figure that problem also. But there's no way you can change it while recording, you'll have to use different wobble basses with different speeds at the same time.

And if that won't work, I can only give you advice to buy a professional program to make dubstep, a program like "Reason".

    I hope it helped.

  • this work?

  • Yes it works.

  • bedankt!

dit maakt garageband een stuk leuker !

  • thanksss helpedd a lot

  • Try screen recorder studio, I think thats the name, it records everything but its cool, this was a great eye opener, now how can you control it with a midi keyboard?

I wanna wamp wamp with my knobs.

  • @timpedersen

I don't know, never worked with a keyboard before.

But you can add this effect to any possible instrument on garageband.

  • @Bendtovich yes, I've been playing with it a lot... thank you

  • Dude thank you

  • ik ga eerst een paar liedjes maken en dan pas zeggen vanwaar ik de wobble heb :) danku belgie of nederland ftw!

  • Aiiiight, stuur mij results vn u tuness als ge klaar bent.

  • THANKS

  • nice one mate!

  • T H A A A N N N K S ! ! !

  • I can tell you why you have no sound, I had the same problem, YOUTUBE DOES NOT SUPPORT .mov-FILES, SO MOV FILES DONT HAVE SOUND!

You should use mpeg4 and convert mov to mp4 using "MPEG Streamclip" like i do ;)

  • Wo, thanks mate. :D

  • No problem :)

  • @Bendtovich where do you download your vst's from? Im new to garageband and i need some more instruments

  • I just got it all standard with Leopard.

I never downloaded anything for garageband.

  • lol all my videos are .mov ?

  • I dont know why, but .mov usually fucks up Sound!

  • wow fucking sick.

  • What bpm did you use?

  • @i424i

    90

  • This works for me except the wobble sounds of beat for some reason.

  • @bitofahumdinger

Try experimenting with the effects you can add.

  • It seems to skip a little bit at the beginning of each measure.

  • how do u get the piano out? :/ big noob at this ^^

  • cmd + shift + k

  • I LOVE YOU !

  • this is awesome even without sound thanks so much

  • thabk u so much!

  • thanks for this really helped a lot.

  • thanks man that helped alot!

  • Thank you so much!!!!!

  • Great tutorial, thanks a lot

I have a problem though. The bass wobbles however sometimes it sounds like it's "phasing" or "panning" from speaker to speaker and I don't know how to get rid of it

    Could you help me?

    Thanks

  • Do you see that round button to the left of the Garageband window?

If you center it between left and right normally the sound will be equally spread between the to speakers.

If not I think you should try to put the to mode, see "Automatic Filter", on Up only. Not Up and Low.

  • where do i get that menu that you are using to preset all those effects and such? im trying to make a dubstep song

  • Normally if you have garageband 8, you should have that presets menu.

If you have garageband 8, press the "I" button.

It's next to the "Eye" button and right of it there's the "Media" button, you can find these buttons in the right (for us) lower corner.

    Then choose software instruments.

  • oh yeah i found it thanks. im trying to figure out how to create different sounding wobbles and how to have them "die " off like fade off
