  • hey i was wondering is is possible to do random battles or do they have to be trigger by and event?

  • @lifeiaskedfor Yes, it's possible. Just event it out. But it may take quite a while.

  • @Railkune hwo would i do it, i understand have to put the envents and such but how would i make it random?

  • @lifeiaskedfor that... requires a looot of eventing knowledge. I do know it's possible because I can come up with the gest of it, but I would have to seriously sit and think about it lol.

  • @kingoresama Actually... yea. That might be pretty cool. In a way, you could have it in affect like Chrono Trigger where the monsters on the screen at the time would activate into battle mode as one of the other monsters nearby get touched/triggered.

  • Looks like what I would like to implement on my project. any way of adding a cost to the actions, then have that determine the order of battle? Example: I move for 3 count, attack for 2, making my total 5; the enemy attacks for 2 and moves for 2, for a total of 4. since the enemy's count is less then mine, he goes first in the combat

  • @lifeiaskedfor Yes. Simply select the option in the Actor section of the database which would make them act on their own.

  • I want to see if I can create a TRPG based off of a favorite tabletop game of mine, but I'm not sure how to do something to this effect...:P

  • @TheCr0atoan Go for it. See, this is all scripted, so if you have any knowledge of scripting then I'm sure it'd be easier. However, even without scripting knowledge, I have friends who are able to create entire battle systems with pure eventing alone.

  • @Railkune That's great :D I'm curious though, would scripting allow panels that characters move on be hexagon shaped??

  • @TheCr0atoan Actually, I'm sure I've seen that done before. In fact, I know I have. You would need a character sets that faces in all 8 directions however, and the 8-direction movement script from what I can gather. Though, it may be easier than that.

  • @Chaos333x Oh um, the guy who made the script got it. I'm sure it's just a character set though. Try looking around for it. Start with Google first though :3

  • the problem with tactic style gameplay is its really time consuming lol .. playing this kind of games always makes me sleepy n bored.. unless ur into this type of battle system..

    Really ,all I can do is make the game, and edit scipts some. But making them from scratch... lolno.

  • @gegoflare Yes, that's what it's made for really. You 'can' have a Final Fantasy Tactics game, or you can use it for only special battles which you want to require strategy involved. Also, I think it has been updated far past this.

  • I'm planning to use this in my game. You can ask what I want it to be like.

  • well of course this system is far far from being perfect. one of the reasons why is that is well it doesn't have any bonus stats on different terrain square. also it doesn't have any height variation meaning units from higher ground attack with higher damage. also it does have facing but it doesn't have any bonuses attack from behind. also it should have movement restriction on different terrain. yes you cannot travel on water in the game but your movement also need to be slowed down on forest.

  • @Myoldnamesdontwork All of the things you just said can be done with events =P Every last one. This is still in the works too, as you said. I'll put up a more updated version later.

  • @Railkune teach me i need to know like...NOW! question1) so how do we have each tile gives specific stats. for ex i want all the tree tiles to give +1 def and -1 Movement square and -1 range to enemy who are attacking me while i sit on tree. How u do that???? question

  • It has a major bug when playing in "TEAM MODE":

    Once a character walked, you can press the cancel button. Then select the same character and it can move again!!!! OMG!!!

    The bug also glitches with the atttack option. (You can attack several times in your turn if you just cancel and select same characterr again)

  • Actually, this system DOES have height variations if you use it in isometric mode. I don't know if isometric mode is in VX, though, I just know it's in XP.

  • @Railkune and how do i modify range weapon's range depending on specific tiles that the attacker and the defender is on. basically like height variation but on 2D. the person on the mountain would get +1 range against Grass and 0 Range against tree. Tree/gress get 0 rage against Grass. -1 range against Tree and -2 range against mountain targets..how to do that?

  • I remeber when I tried this system. It was fun but took too long. Mabye good for puzzle-based RPGs, not fighting RPGs.

  • It takes long depending on how you use it. If you are making a game similar to Final Fantasy Tactics then yea, it "should" take long. I wouldn't even use this system if you don't plan on making a good long drawn out game.
