Samsung Cheerleader on CRT HDTV

I always wondered why there weren't more HD-CRTs made in in the early days. The new LCD's they were offering were complete shit. I love CRT's im rocking 2x 22" Philips 202p4's right now! i even have a spare in storage incase one breaks. Bought them all second hand for under $50 each! Would have to spend $500+ for a comparable LCD even toady. They are 160wats each, so i tend to use my little net book for light tasks, leaving the crt's for gaming and photoshop.

If I had the room–not to mention, MONEY–I'd get a CRT. No lag, perfect blacks, contrast ratio, etc. It's great for gaming.

The only read I bough a flat screen was to replace an old CRT. The pros outweighed the cons. But you can't make smaller CRTs, not possible.

Hopefully as OLED technology improves we'll see our successor to CRT.

CRT is definitely better for overall picture quality compared to LCD. Wider color gamut, higher contrast ratio, darker blacks, uniformity, fast response times.

The disadvantage, as always, is size, weight, and power consumption.

There's no reason why 1080p CRT TVs shouldn't be possible. They are, easily. However, the general public has decided to opt for power savings and reduced weight and size offered by LCD.

I'm not gonna lie, those CRTs sure are a PITA to move around.

Even my standard definition Phillips wide-screen is better than any plasma or LCD. The new skinny sets are a fashion statement-the technology has actually REGRESSED! And the public has been dumb enough to pay a premium price for it and dump their old sets!

I do a lot of HD filming of some classic new bands-Rozi Plain's full band set for example-but unless I can find an HD CRT I am going to have to wait years for affordable laser television.

i have a standard definition sony trinitron crt tv and it blows away alot of LCD tvs. its 32 inches and weights more than 100 pounds but the image it produces is very good even by todays standards.

@samjs721 The thing is, you can get a tv muuuch bigger than 32 inches and sit farther back with the same pleasure or more pleasure not using a CRT tv. Plus it wont break the table or rip the bracket out of the wall lol.

yeah but the viewing angle is crap for must lcds and plasmas. and you always have to sit directly facing the middle of the screen. it sucks.

If crt still existed, I would say 1080p on them would put lcd and others to shame. I remember being 15 at best buy looking at all the displays and I saw a sony 30" 720p crt and comparing it to others, it was superior. Some of you might not agree but thats okay because my brother said lcd looks better and it looked like a cat scratched the screen. That just shows that this stuff evolves but not very well.

CRTs in full hd will show the true detail of what hd can do because when I was 15, my brother and I went to best by and I saw a 30" sony crt compared to a sony lcd and xrb and I was completely blown away. The picture had me sitting on the floor in sheer enjoyment making lcds have scratch mark from a cat. Though my brother said lcd looks better, crt will always be superior to me.

CRTs have a much greater contrast ratio then LCDs or even Plasma. They last longer and cause less eye strain.

The most bang for your buck!!

There only limited in size-you can only blow a picture tube up so big before it becomes unstable. But then again, do you really need to feel like your in the first row of a movie theater in your living room.

Dont bother crt does show a better picture then plasma and lcd. But no company makes them anyomore, and the ones left in stock dont eaven have a pc connection abilaty. New things sell for more money, eaven if the quality isnt better then the old.

noo you are wrong my friend, of course they still make CRT, for example the Wega theather TV, and the Slim CRT Samsung Tvs that have a very decent picture quality, but i agree new things sell for more money and sometimes they dont have a good quality, even that, there is some amazing LCD tvs ,of course very damn expensive

Erm CRT technically is still the best in may respects. CRT however is bad due to its massive size, weight and power consumption. Remember that CRT technology has had decades to improve whereas many of the flat screen technologies of today are still developing and in my opinion are not ready.

no 1080p the max res you can get is 1080i which is one of the only downsides.
