The whole point of the song is that regardless of how much you have in material possessions, it doesn't matter unless you also have love. ANY kind of love -- gay, straight -- doesn't matter.

If you look at the video at 1:03 and 1:23 there are 2 straight couples and 2 gay couples shown kissing. There's nothing subtle about it, and if the Pet Shop Boys wanted them in there, why should it bother you so much?
