  • When I burn a cd of an artist, I always put my favorite song by them first. This was the first song on my James Taylor cd.

  • Oh, wake up Susie

    Put your shoes on

And walk with me into this light, ooh,

    Finally this morning

    I'm feeling whole again

It was a hell of a night

  • We are so fortunate to have lived during JT's era.

  • nice piece..::!

  • Perfect, direct to your hart.

  • I absolutley love this song. I'm going to see him in Toronto this June.

  • night has given away to the promise of another day

  • Finally this morning, I'm feeling whole again,

    It's been a hell of a night.

Just to be with you by my side,

Just to have you near me in my sight

Just to walk a while in this light,

Just to know that life goes on. . . .

Morning light has driven away all the shadows that hide your way,

And night has given away to the promise of another day. Another day.

Another chance to find that we have finally found our way. Another day.

  • Now if that song doesn't find peace in your heart or just take your mind off the daily grind...

  • My favorite entertainer of all times.

I love his music...it has a way to make you reflect on whats important in life and slow down.

Anyone who sings like this and creates such beautiful music is blessed...Thank you James.

  • My favorite James Taylor song

  • btw isn't it 1998?

  • This is one of my favorite JT songs. It never gets old, I have probably listened to it 500 times. True love through music, there is nothing better on earth. Hopefully heaven is like this.

  • a true interpretor of the language of the heart. In brazil these people are called gurifim, which alludes to those born at the full moon from the union of dolphin and virgins who go down to the beaches for this specific mission. This kind of music I believe changes worlds and saves lives.

  • amen!

  • Don´t know what it is about JT - but I always get this mixed feeling of sadness an joy listening to his voice - its just splendid. Went to his concert last year in Copenhagen - awesome ...

  • Such a perfect song.

This angel has sooo many perfect songs...

What a blessing to have James Taylor in our lives.

How many artists do you know that have even a fraction of "perfect" songs that this man has and so graciously delivers.

One of the artists...Garth Brooks ....swears that JT is "God's gift to singing / songwriting"

    I agree whole-heartedly

  • wow what a song , what a man - he just gets better every day ! going to see him july 5th birmingham uk -- front row !!

    can't wait - love u james

  • My favorite Taylor song!!

  • As he ages, his voice seems to get better. Not that he was bad when he was younger but he has gained some qualities.

  • It seems to have lost it's edge and become more mellow. Love it!!!!

  • one of my favourite JT songs. Cheers.

  • what a beautiful song!!! thanks for posting this gem

  • awesome!

  • grandissimo artista..

  • Quelle douceur infinie dans sa façon de chanter ce texte et dans son regard et son sourire!

  • this song is so deep, it is so beautiful and full of hope. It makes me cry every time.

I just sent it to my sister Susy! She cried.

  • There used to be a time when you could turn on your radio and listen to songs like this that didn't agitate you. Those days are gone and like my parents I say remember the days? JT was one of those artist that when you heard his songs you just enjoyed it for how it made you feel...missing the good o'l days.

  • I feel you Chunks...I listen to JT whenever I need a lift - works every time! :)

  • "JT was"? "missing"? He's not dead you know! Touring regularly...you should get yourself to see him - magical!

  • the story behind it is....While james was in a clinic due to his drugaddiction,a close friend(suzy) died (suicide),his friends told him three months later cause they knew that this was a crucial time in his life.

Another reference to this friend Suzy is made in the first part of the song Fire and rain.

  • Does anyone know the story about this song, is it something that happened to James I am sure it is, he is a biographical writer a great one.

I would love to see him some day.

    Sue H.

  • Don't know the story behind this one .Sweet Baby James was written for his nephew James ,the son of his late brother Alex. You are right many of his songs stem from his life experiences as do the songs of his siblings Kate and Livingston. His brother Alex was a different kind of musician.Sad his light burned out too early.

  • You're right. He is biographical. A lot of his songs are about coming from darkness/loneliness/addiction into light/contentment/recovery. Do not forget that he has had to overcome a heroine addiction. For me, this song is about making it through the darkness of our darkest nights and letting go of addiction no matter the pain.

  • this is a great song about life... it took JT over a decade to finally complete this great song.

  • Oh, to be Susie.

  • This song makes me cry.

  • me too, I don't know how he can sing it without crying

  • HEY, U LIKE STEELY DAN?

  • Best band in the world mate, they're my daily drug

  • What control he has of his voice...amazing.

  • One of my more fav James Taylor songs. Nice video dad

  • Thank You Son

  • your welcome dad

  • Great Song!!!

  • its a great song. I love it.
