  • WHAT??? At the big jellyfish tank it looks like the top is open and you could stick your hand in there?! Isn't that like WAY dangerous?!

  • @Superscriptor Yeah, it was open, but I think most people wouldn't even THINK about putting their hands in there. ha ha

  • ramen sounds so bomb right now XD

  • i think it might be better to focus on English Lang. most usable most needed also .love her :)

  • @medoloverr I agree! And, I use only English with Nina, but she goes to a Japanese school and all her friends speak Japanese and her mother speaks Japanese, so it's a challenge for me!

  • i think nina perfectly fit yotsuba

  • Do u guys want any more kids? I think Nina would be a fabu big sister! :)

    - your photography is amazing. This is a great way for me to see Japan.

    Arigatou!

  • I'm so glad I found this video and many more of Nina Show. :D

I'm a Thai girl studying Japanese. Those Japanese and English subs really help me learn. ^^

    She's a good-natured girl, very cute. ><

  • I miss those SUUUUUPPPPEEEERRR hot summer days, haha. I cant wait for the summer festival, fireworks, and pools, Oh the joy.

  • @ThatVideoGameGirl123 Today feels a bit like that. We just had a thunderstorm so the humidity is close to 100% and we are lounging in front of the fan.

I love summer matsuris and hanabi as well.

  • @geofg oh by the way, your photography is awesome! do you edit with iMovie?

  • @ThatVideoGameGirl123 Yep, iMovie. This was made with the old version, but my vids since March were edited with the new version.

  • @geofg Oh okay, cause your really good at editing! I have iMovie but I use Windows editor cause its kinda compilaited for me, haha.

  • What a great summer vacation! And yea I've said this before but I can't say enough: Your photography rocks! And so does your videography~ (^_^)v

  • @deedeedare Thanks for all the compliments! *blushing*

  • Taí Shabu delícia :p

  • she feels shy lol

  • hey geofg, i am very intrigued how that fish tank works. can you please explain it to me?

thank you for making these videos! watching it takes my stress away even for a short time :) btw, i love the photos! :) i really want to visit japan some day :)

  • @paoloantoniosy ha ha Yeah, that fish tank is quite mysterious. Why doesn't the water pour out of those holes? We need a physicist to explain it to us.

I hope you get a chance to visit Japan some day.

  • 二-ナ ちゃん is so pretty, sweet and cute .. we are going to have our first baby girl coming June. I hope she will be as cute as 二-ナ .. thanks for sharing Geof!

which handycam r u using? im thinking to get one of Sony HDRXR550V or close to it.

  • @thonza78 I used a Canon video camera for this. It is about 5 years old and uses cassette tapes. It was OK, but the battery didn't last long and sometimes it had problems. I just bought the new Kodak zi8, however. You can get it for less than $200 (2万円以下) and it has a good battery, nice HD quality, and you can put up to 32 GB memory card so it holds a lot. It is also very simple to use. I don't know about the Sony. I suspect it is good, but probably costs more.

  • This looks like so much fun! And I noticed that your photographs are really nice- what kind of camera do you use? Canon?

  • Yes, a Canon Eos Rebel (6 years old)

  • @geofg Yeah, I have a Canon EOS Rebel 350d ~ love em!

    :)

  • i just adore Nina! ( and that's coming from a person who usually can't stand kids )

  • Thanks! I'm glad you can stand Nina. ha ha

  • nice pics uve got!!! and nina? she is just so adorable!!!

  • waahh shes so cute <33

  • all the more reason as to why i want a girl, Nina is so adorable! i'm jealous of you and i have no kid!. hahaha :P wonderful family, living in japan. aaiiiiiii!! im gonna watch all your 120 videos before my winter break ends :D 2 down 118 to go.

  • Thanks! But, don't spend your whole winter break just watching Nina videos! Ha ha.

  • cant help it haha

  • I absolutely love your videos of precious Nina! I'm half japanese and america so she reminds me of myself when I was little and lived in japan. (sasebo, kyushu.)

    Happy Holidays! :]]

    - Trisha Mae

  • What kind of cam do you use? The vidz and photos are always so nice. The place looks soo beautiful. It's great that she'll have these pics & vidz to show her kids one day.

  • Luv her soo much..

Just cant stop watching her ideo..

And my mom luv it too..

She says Hi 2 Nina.. ^__^

  • Love the photoshoot of the food cuisine btw~ Thanks to ur channel~ I am kinda inspired to learn more about photography now! Thanks!

  • Thanks! The only advice I ever give in regards to photography is to take lots and lots of pictures (digital cameras let you do that easily) and then later, when you look through them, only keep the few that you immediately think, "Oh, that's a good one" and throw the rest away. I probably only use about 10% of the pictures I take.

  • you have many perfect shots of nina. i wanna be parents just like the both of u! lol. u guys seriously inspire me to be parents who is eager to capture our own child's innocence and childhood.

  • cute! "Let me see the view"

  • wow i love ur photography.. nina is soo cute wish i can meet her someday :D

  • Nina definitely has your nose. I couldn't help but point it out. Hahahaha. She's so adorable and spunky.

  • My nose? I'm glad you think there is something of me in her. I always hear how she looks like her mother.

  • Beautiful!! Just beautiful. That delectable looking Oyuu-han of seafood looked so appetizing because of the arrangement and the colors but...I really dislike the taste of seafood. T_T

Ohh! and the Fukui Marine Park Center was great!! I wonder how they got the food opening for the aquariums to not spill any water out, quite interesting! I really do have to start saving up, you visit fantastic places Geofg. I'm glad you were able to squeeze in one last beach trip, I'm sure it was worth it.

  • My wife and I wondered the same thing about the fish feeding pots. Why doesn't the water pour out? I wish I understood physics.

And you are like the fourth person I've heard say that they love the presentation and layout of Japanese food, but just can't get past the fact that it is fish.

  • Oh really?! Oops, perhaps I need to be more original. u_u'

    gomen ne~

  • Ha ha. No, I just think the paradox of thinking the food looks so nice but not liking the taste is interesting. And, I wanted to let you know you are not alone in liking Japan and Japanese culture, but not liking fish. I even know some native Japanese people who don't like fish.

  • Oh wow. I totally just found your channel (thanks to Victor) and wow... I'm like amazed. Your photos are so beautiful (as is your family!) I'm so glad that I found these. It's great to see a life lived so beautifully.

  • Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  • Geof, your videos are so beautiful. It tells a story and so beautiful to look at. I wish we have gentle beaches like Japan. what a view! The Sushi and shashimi kept me drooling the whole time . Nina is sooo cute feeding the fish. Sara loves fish feeding too. Take care Geof, Akiko, and Nina. your family is in our most treasured thoughts.

    BIG GROUP HUG

  • Hi Chris or Kelly. (I never know which one of you is writing. ha ha) Japan does have a few nice beaches, but you have to be willing to drive to find them, and they are usually pretty crowded. But, yeah, we had a good time. Hope you enjoyed your summer too, and thanks for the group hug!

BTW, we got Nina some guppies as her first pets. She feeds them every day (but Papa still has to clean the tank). Does Sara have any pets?

  • Great Video! Very cute. Thnx for the subtitles :p

  • oh I was too late to post comment, I was hospitalized, and now I'm home. so glad to see Nina again.. all that I said, Nina always can make my day happy and smile.... thank you Nina ad Mr.Geof.. I know you love beach soo much! really wanna go there... hm... =)

    hug and kiss for nina...

  • wow, this place is absolutely beautiful, I would love to make a trip down here =).

You take very nice photos, was wondering if your camera is a regular point and shoot or a dslr? =D

  • Thanks! Yeah, I use a dslr.

  • I am just wondering what kind of lens you are using, cause your photos are so sharp and have so much color =D. Also how you took that night shot with Nina playing with the sparklers. Its all really nice! really admire your photography, I'm still playing around with mine and learning as I go.

  • I splurged on a Canon EF 24-70 lens with a 2.8 aperture a couple years back. It was pretty pricey, but it gives great clarity and depth of field. The sparklers shot was taken with the camera on a tripod, with maybe a 3 or 4 second exposure. I learned everything I know from just playing around, too, so just keep playing! That's the great thing about digital, you can take as many shots as you like and just throw away the failures.

  • 「食べようとしてんの?」 (笑)

That's the cutest idea anyone could have come up with seeing that giant jelly fish and those tiny fish XD

Nina-chan is the cutest as always~~ Am I welcome in her little house? When she say 「はずかしい」 is was just so adorable~~ Love her~

  • Ha ha. Lately Nina has been fascinated with the idea that animals eat other animals.

OK, I'll ask Nina if you are welcome in her little house.

  • hi i love all your videos, so loving & warm. (: by the way, what camera are you using?

  • Thank you! My camcorder and SLR are both Canon. The SLR is pretty decent, but the camcorder is a really cheap one that uses digital casette tapes.

  • do your English students wear sailor fukus at shcool? i love those uniforms!

and does the sound of cicadas ever get annoying?

  • The cicadas can get pretty loud, but I don't mind them because they remind me of summer, and they only come out for a month and a half or so every year. Then, the crickets come out, and you know Fall is on the way.

  • Looks like a wonderful time! And that food looks amazing! Wow.

She was very brave with the fireworks! And it is great that they let you feed that fish at the aquarium... what a cool place!

  • Yeah, nothing like summer, especially when you're a school teacher and can enjoy it. Back to the grind for awhile now, though. Hope you had a good summer, too.

  • i had a wrong grammar in my first msg lol, what i mean is thank u for posting of the video everyone loves it. and give my hugs and kisses to little nina.. that's all :D sorry for the wrong grammar :( i miss nina chan, uyasumi nina chan :*

  • Ha ha. Don't worry about your grammar. And, thanks for the nice comments!

  • Wow! that looked like an incredible weekend. So that was in Fukui? Did you go to the big beach party with John of Fatblueman fame????

Hope you guys are all doing well! Great to see another installment in the life of Nina.

  • Yeah, my wife found that beach through internet bulletin boards. It's definitely worth a visit. The onsen on the beach was really cool. It wouldn't be as far a drive for you, either.

No, didn't catch John's beach party. He actually lives really close to me, but I've never met him in person. We've exchanged messages, though.

    Thanks for stoppin' by, Busan!

  • That's nice. I look forward to getting a nice room with a private onsen. They look so cool.

I'm planning to meet John next month. His band, Fatlueman is playin in Osaka on Sept. 19th I believe. Myself, KansaiPJ and some other vloggers plan to go!

  • It is nice that you guys spend time with your kid creating memories. Sweet family. Is your smart little girl ready for school in the Autumn?

  • In Japan, the school year starts in April. Nina has been going to daycare since she was 8 months old. When I am on vacation, we take her out, but I am back at work now, so Nina is back at daycare. She loves it though, and has lots of friends there.

  • 最高!! That was really well made. I wathed it with my kids. They enjoyed too.

  • Thanks! Your Hawaii trip looked great, too. But, alas, that was probably our last trip for awhile. Gotta do some work and make some yen now.

  • Nina will be an artist someday ^^

    will you allow her ?

  • Yeah, Nina can choose what she wants to do when she grows up. An artist would be an interesting choice.

  • geofg than you posting it..hehe i love when nina start to eat the ramen.i heard some slurrrrrrpppppppp! ahahaha.what she's up to when she goes under there, lol she has incredible wacky things in her mind but she is adorable.i love the pictures geofg im getting hungry, delicious food nice shot geofg.nice view geofg can you give me that pictures? heheh i want a copy, what is the name of ur wife? i forgot it, hehe.thank you, give my hug and kiss to her.

  • I watch your vids a lot less than I used to.^^ changes in life I guess. But It was so awesome to see your family and nina out on a vacation.

Its a cherished memory that always remains!~

Nice vid goef. And nice music.:)

Ps: Nina' hair grew longer!! so pretty.

Looks like she decided to keep her hair long after all.^^

Hope you guys are doing good.

  • Hey John,

Thanks for stopping by. Yeah, we had fun on our two little summer trips, but time to get back to work now. Ugh.

Nina's hair is still pretty short. Does it seem longer in this vid?

  • Well sir, work is work and someone has to do get it done. haha.

Wish you good luck at work sir.

And yes! Nina's hair grew real long since I last saw her.

Is she gonna keep it that way?

  • i've been waiting for a long time...

    thank you for the update...

    i love nina!!

how do you educate nina so she can be so funny and smart ??

  • Thanks! Nina was pretty much just born Nina. She has always had a sense of humor, even when she was 6 months old. She is a natural comedian. Ha ha.

  • but I think she is not like usual kids

She is very smart even tough she is very young..She can speak fluently..

If you asked her something, she can answer it well and clear

Do u always have conversations with her mostly?

    If I have a baby,I hope she/he can be smart since she/he is young..hhaha..

Maybe you can share some tips to make children can be smart...

    Thank you..

Sorry if I make some wrong grammar..

  • Thank you! I do think Nina is a natural communicator. Ever since she was about 4 months old she has been trying to communicate, using gestures or whatever she can.

We don't have any special techniques, but since she likes to communicate so much, we just try to speak to her normally, me in English and my wife in Japanese. She does the rest.

Good luck being a parent yourself some day!

  • Somehow eating ramen outdoors always taste better then eating at the kitchen table.

I love that picture where Nina is pondering which umeboshi is wants to pick, lol.

    Again, very lovely video!!

  • Ha ha. That's true. We rarely eat ramen like that at home.

    And, thanks as always!

  • BTW - what lens do you use on your Rebel (I have a Rebel XTi that I like to use). I know the lens can have as much to do with picture quality as the camera... and would love to know what you have.

  • Yeah, my Rebel is a 6 year old dinasaur with only 6.2 megapixels. It's my lens that I really splurged on. It's a Canon EF 24-70 zoom with a 2.8 aperture. The focus is much more precise than the lens my Rebel came with, so I get more blurry shots than I used to, but when the focus is just right, the low depth of field at 2.8 gives a really nuanced and almost 3 dimensional look that you just can't get with a cheaper lens. (My lens cost more than the camera body, by the way.)

  • oh wow awesome, thanks so much for the info, really appreciate it =). I definitely will keep on working at things, hopefully be able to take photos as good as you one day .

can't believe summer has already flown right by =/, just wasn't long enough hehe. Hope school all goes well for Nina, work for you =), looking forward to more videos to come.

  • love nina always!

  • Oh geof! I love this vid... Nina is so beautiful and she's grown up so much.

I rarely have access to hi-speed internet, so I don't get to watch all the videos I used to, and I miss it so much. I miss watching Nina growing up! Between the editing and the way you've told the story - this is one of the better vids I've seen you do. LOVE it and Nina. Take care and give her a hug frome me.

  • Thanks! It's good to hear from you after so long. Sorry to hear you don't have access to high speed internet much anymore. I would be lost without it, and would probably have to move back to America. How are your two beautiful girls? Is Jia adjusting OK?

    Thanks for stopping by!

  • That was in Fukui Prefecture, on the main island, Honshu. It's probably about a 3 hour drive from Osaka.

  • Your videos are works of art. Is this your profession or hobby? Nina is always so cute. She is a star!

  • Ha ha, thanks! No, all I've ever done is these videos of Nina (as a hobby), but I've done over 100 of them now, so I guess I've developed a certain "style". But, mainly, I just ride on Nina's star power. Ha ha.

  • aww, never thought i'd say this, but the few scenes of no music and the semi crying made me really miss the sound of semi.

  • Yeah, I know what you mean. The semi have already stopped for this year, and now we just have the lonely cry of the crickets (suzumushi). It's always a slightly sad time for me, a reminder that another summer has come and gone...

  • Great trip, great pictures and glad to see Nina enjoyed the trip..regards to you and your mrs! :)

  • Your photography. I love it.

  • this video was so nice! One of my favourites! The music was so nice and it looked so great there! And the food at your hotel thing looked so professionally done~ Served up all nice, did you make it yourself. or was there room service or something? Anyways amazing job on this one! ANd as always your photography is amazing

  • Ha ha. No, I could never make food that looked that nice. The meal is part of the charge at the ryokan (inn) we stayed at. It costs more than staying at a hotel, but the great meals make it worth it.

  • Amazing video.. It felt like it was my last vacation of the summer as well lol ~! ;) Kurage! That was crazy.. If I saw it up close in real life like that I would probably freeze of fright :P Nina feeding the fishes was too cute "wow!" ;) Loved it ;D

  • Yeah, that kurage was pretty impressive. Those echizen kurage have really proliferated in the past few years and are a nightmare for fishermen because they get caught in the nets. It's a big problem, apparently. They're great to look at, though.

  • I miss Japan.

I never went to Fukui, but it looks nice.

  • The beaches there are definitely worth a visit. Maybe on your next visit?

  • SOOO beautiful !!! Great parents

  • That was wonderful, it made my day and yes beautiful photography.

  • cooooooooooooool i hope u had a great time

  • i loved this video! so much fun to watch love the photography! what kind of camera do you use to take your pictures?

  • I use a Canon digital SLR. It's called the Rebel in the U.S., or the Kiss in Japan. Mine is about 6 years old by now.

  • hehe Loved watching Nina feed those fish that was so cute! They looked ferocious though. hah

  • Hello you guys ^__^ lovely video, as usual, you're such a lucky and beautiful family!

Just one silly question: why sometimes Nina swims with her shirt on? Is it against sun exposure or there's some other reason?

I'm asking because here in Italy that would be very strange and all kids and adults just go in the water with swimsuits on.

  • Thanks! Nice to hear from you.

Yes, Nina wears that shirt to avoid too much sun exposure. We use sunblock too, of course, but if you are going to be at the beach for many hours, going in and out of water, it's easier to use those. They are popular recently in Japan. Japanese women, especially, tend to be very careful about not letting their skin get too dark.

  • What camera are you using in this video??

  • Canon Digital SLR Rebel (Kiss in Japan)

  • One of my dear friends lives in Fukui. I want to visit her even more after seeing the beach (I miss the beach since I moved).

  • Fukui is nice, especially the beaches. Where do you live now?

  • I moved from the US (east coast) to Quebec, Canada.

  • Nina is such a star

  • かわいい~~~!!I wish I was still small so I could fit in the closet like that。。 haha Hide-n-Seek would be so fun!The beach looks so fun too!

    たのしっかたですか?

  • 2:00 wooow

    2:53 this looks very delicious.

    and very cool photos ;-)

  • ニナは可愛い~~~

  • Your vids are always so great to watch! Thanks for sharing! :D yay Nina!

  • wow shes gotten so big! ive been watching for a while! shes seems so bright!

  • This is another of my fave videos! You showed many of the things about Japan that I miss very much! Where else can you get food as art to such a degree? Beautiful settings too!

Nina is becoming a prettier and prettier girl. I look forward to seeing her in her school uniform and even maybe in a school setting. I am curious; is Japan your home forever ?

  • Yes, Japan definitely has its own distinct way of preparation and presentation when it comes to food. It amazes me every time. And that fresh sashimi was awesome.

Will Japan be our home forever? We ask ourselves that all the time. At this point, I have no idea. It gets pretty complicated when we think about Nina's schooling, and what is best for her. But, I think we will at least always have a home here, whether we always live here or not.

  • Mmm Ramen on the beach. I usually just bring a sandwich or something :P

Once again, great video, the scenery was truly amazing.

Also, great still shots as always. I really enjoyed watching this video.

  • Thanks! Yeah, we usually just eat sandwiches or whatever when we picnic, too, but we had a few hours to kill at the beach until our 3 P.M. check-in, so figured we'd act like we were camping.

  • ahhh i miss japan.. nina's voice is really cute..

  • Yay a long video! That brightened up my day. Nina really knows how to have enjoy herself!

  • Thank you! My general rule is to try to keep the videos around 3 or 4 minutes because I imagine people become bored watching them, so I'm glad the 7 minutes didn't put you off.

  • i simply loved her expression when she was feeding the fishes. "wow!" she said. kawaii Nina!

oh and it was REALLY interesting and funny to see her in the closet. and you went like, "え....." ahaha! *loved that*

thanks Geof, for editing that 7.31min video, i'm pretty sure that satisfaction will be derived from viewers worldwide!

    Nina's SG number 1 fan!

    Richie

  • Ha ha. I didn't even realize I said え〜. I guess I'm turning Japanese.

And yeah, Nina was pretty impressed by the fish feeding tank, but we were the only people in the room and it was kind of quiet, so she was being pretty calm, but still excited enough to say, Wow.

  • Seems like such a relaxin and fun trip!

  • Wow, that was so beautiful.

Not only that but all that food looks so tasty.

    Ramen on the beach. mmmm

I think I liked the big fish eating the best.

Japan always has the best things.

  • That aquarium was just a little local place that my wife found on the internet. We only saw maybe 3 or 4 other people there the whole time, but yeah, it was really cool. The fish feeding tank was really fun. We just can't figure out why the water doesn't pour out of the feeding holes.

  • nina never ceases to make me smile.she is so adorable!

  • I wish i could make soup on top of a rock like that! All we eat is sandwiches at the beach :P

Nina is so cute crawling into small spaces and feeding the big headed fishys!

  • Yeah, the check-in time for the ryokan we stayed at was 3, and there were no restaurants or convenience stores around there, so we took our camp stove and instant ramen. Pretty easy.

The fish feeding tank was really cool.

  • Finally a new video! Now I'm learning Japanese. This video really educates me. Never thought learning Japanses from a little girl is this fun :))

    ありがとう!

  • Ha ha. I'm glad Nina's vids can help with your nihongo!

  • Simple yet wonderful! Nina's soooooooooooo cute!

  • wow. i love ur photos man! can i got a tips for shooting like that? thanks.

Hi Nina! :) have fun there.

  • Ha ha. No real tips other than to take LOTS of photos. I've taken thousands and thousands of pictures of Nina by now, and thrown out 90% of them, and just kept the best 10%.

  • looks like a great time~

  • "Nina ebi daisuki!"

This is really nice to learn japanese ^^ The food looks so good!

Woah, Hanabi, Rontenburo are my dreams!

Nina is really adorable, I can understand almost everything that she says now! =D

  • Yeah, listening to kids speak Japanese is definitely a good way to pick it up. They speak in pretty straight forward Japanese. I'm glad Nina's vids can help you with your Japanese.
