@BenFosterism But no at really high resolutions. I've seen tests and the best cards run it at highest settings but not high resolutions. And i also agree, with what you said, consoles are slowing down graphics evolution.
@mystrdat Of course, but better wait for 7990 with is basically two 7970 you should have better performance. I think you do lose a bit performance with crossfire. It will be the next monster, 6Gb.
i do run benchmark on mine but it aint giving me scores i let it go trought every single test 6 times in a freaking row and nothing how long do i have to wait?
after seeing that "physx" test i must say i am deeply unimpressed, that's something source engine could do on a 3.2ghz northwood. fuck all this crap. we need ray tracing and much higher level physical simulation.
..Really? The source engine can let your bullets affect the the curvature of a waving sheet or flag? It can create real-time moving dust particles in sunlight? Source was great in its time, but picking up and throwing static objects and ragdolls hardly compares to modern usage of PhysX.

I'm sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about. What you're claiming is not based off of any tech reasoning, it's just speculation. GPU-accelerated physics is a very real technology, and it'll render much faster than even the greatest CPU. You may not know this, but you CAN select to render PhysX with your processor, and you'll get much lower FPS as a result. Being able to simultaneously render the physics of an object AND draw it make the process much faster.
@carrerasubway you need to download the software itself, this is just a preview. What the software does is generate very intensive graphics to test your pc. This is just a video showcasing them.
Ok, 3DMark has some cool stuff as usual. Seeing that this uses a lot more outdoor environments for realism for 2011. Physics test is cool with tons of things being destroyed. Amazing benchmark scenes for realistic environments on Earth.
But, how would this compare to Crysis 2? Hmm? They are both even contenders.
@nlicky Crysis 2 only has DirectX 9, so it would be unfair to compare them. You can get decent framerates in Crysis 2 even with 4 year old graphics cards (I got about 60 fps with vsync on my GTX280). I cant really comment on how 3DMark 11 performance, since my card is only DX10, but I bet this video showcasing it with a SLI or even Quad setup.
@Kloborgg max 60 fps with vsync on, it sometimes fluctuate between 30 and 60 when alot is going on onscreen (but tbh, there isnt very much going on in Crysis 2 most of the time) With vsynch off, 40-70. I didnt play it all that much with my old system, I just finished building a new sandy bridge setup with a GTX 580, it almost seems overkill now, with constant 60 fps even in 3D mode (720P though since my projector cant output higher. I hate tearing in games, so vsync on most of the time.
@Kloborgg Thanks, yeah in sterescopic 3D mode I have to run it in 720P for my projector.
But those results I mentioned in the first part of my comment I got from playing in 1080p on my monitor but they were not on the extreme setting, they were on high.
lol dude this is a gaming benchmark for graphics cards. ofcouse your computer can play this video but your computer will not be able to play the actual software benchmarks which does a stress test on video card. for example your computer will be able to play videos of crysis with no problem but actually playing crysis will be another story.
@pakrambo That's what I'm saying, this is just a video, but people sit here and brag about how their computers are able to play the video in 1080p, thinking the video itself is a graphics test.
@Herbaceous2008 Why? It is a video. I can play other videos in 1080p aswell without a problem. 3DMark is a benchmark tool used to test the DirectX9 performance of your graphics card. This video isn't rendered from a 3D vector model as you watch it.
@kamratframjandet do you mean just watching the video on youtube or the video in the program? if you watch in the program it is actually utilising your pc and will run it based on how good your pc is....if you mean watching this video? um......are people retarded?
@kamratframjandet It IS a graphics test, unlike "just a video". Any computer today can play a video. The challenge here is that your testing how your computer can render all those 3d spaces and effects in real time, unlike a pre-rendered video like those awesome trailers that Blizzard Makes
@ASKALAPHUS We've been through this already! THIS is a video OF a graphics test. YouTube isn't rendering the 3D models with texture and lighting, neither is your computer. This is simply a video. That's why the video description is saying "Visit 3dmark(dot)com to download now".
@tazss159 Nope. Watching Ray William Johnson is no more of a test than the video above. If you really wan't to test your computer you must download the software and run it, NOT watch a RECORDING of someone else's test.
my comp handled this fine with a GTX275, running a C2D E8400, and im also watching a movie on my 2nd monitor, so i guess i have more than enough power still :P
@bladedush wow...I guess people on here are actually retarded then? you fucking retarded cunt....watching movies has nothing to do with anything...try running hte program that renders the graphics you dumb cunt
@superbrainification Well that was a year ago++, now I could find laptops under 5 lbs for 700 bucks that are fully capable of playing games in HD on medium-high settings
they still havent mention the specs for this benchmark and 3dmark11 doesnt support SLI yet. Which makes me think it is probably something in-house. Looks phenomenal though. You have to be a graphic nerd and a hardcore PC gamer to appreciate it.
Wow, DL'ing this now but I bet my new laptop will explode when I try and render this! A quad core i7 processor, with 6gb RAM, too bad my not so pure 435m GT will likely melt!
Maybe I'll actually have enough cash to justify a $2000 machine when this kind of graphics reaches the market!
The choppiness of the new graphics doesn't bother me as I don't mind that type of progress but what pisses me is that they are now pushing the 16/9 aspect ratio. Either be 1920x1080 or 2560X1440 but anything else means seeing the black bars when viewing on a 16/10 aspect ratio monitor. Mirror's Edge is the same thing, be forced to play the game with the black bars because "Oh I am sorry, my monitor isn't 16/9". It's push, push, push and dipping into your pocket in more ways than one. bullsh I.T.
i hear you. i want to upgrade to an led monitor from my hp w2408, but ill have to go with a "1080p" monitor. what was wrong with 16:10? why the hell did movies go 16:9? 16:10 is more pixels. more pixels = higher resolution. wtf?
I wonder what a 5450 would say to 3DMark11, it's obviously made for current super high end stuff but I wonder what lower end stuff with DX11 would do on it, and I wonder if it can complete the entire test.
Lightshafts, tesselation, bad artists, propritetary soft...
For what? For money of poor casuals... You dont want good gameplay, great experience of interaction with software, you just want to buy a new gpu too see a little better virtual reality, because it is all you really have. Stop, where you stand. Look behind. Think. Use Linux.
@MaikUniversum not a game.. its a application that you can run, it will test your computer and tell how much faster it is than other peoples computers ect. I REPEAT, NOT A GAME.
@ExpanderDJ I have a Phenom II x4 945 @ 3GHz (stock), 2GB DDR3 @ 1333MHz and a HD5450 (650MHz core, 680MHz memory) and I got 4FPS (except in the physics test, in which I got 11FPS).
So either you are lying or something is wrong with your PC.
@Abb4d0n This is futuremarks youtube account so theres a good chance they just pre-rendered this at 60fps to show what these benchmarks are supposed to look like.

PhysX is pretty much just a scam to try and get a few ATI users to buy Nvidia cards, and of course to make more expensive cards more desirable.
animekid200 10 months ago

It's not a "scam", it's a marketing tool. Yes, the only reason ATI cards don't have it is because Nvidia doesn't allow them too, that's business. However, Physx is certainly a real thing that does add a decent bit of eye-candy to a few games.
Kloborgg 9 months ago
You don't get my reasoning behind it.
Gamers barely need mid-range CPU's to run games that don't have PhysX, but still provide the visual features that PhysX can do.
All that PhysX does, is move some visual features that the CPU usually handles, namely Physics, and moves it to the GPU.
Which, in turn, means people who want PhysX features to run smoothly, can't spend more money on Intel, only on Nvidia.
If PhysX became industry standard as Havok did, Nvidia's plan would be a success.

@piraka321 thanks mate :-)

they still havent mention the specs for this benchmark and 3dmark11 doesnt support SLI yet.

@orpanyd: They have to develop the programs for the technology trend. That's just the way it goes sometimes.
shinji257 1 year ago
The choppiness of the new graphics doesn't bother me as I don't mind that type of progress but what pisses me is that they are now pushing the 16/9 aspect ratio. Either be 1920x1080 or 2560X1440 but anything else means seeing the black bars when viewing on a 16/10 aspect ratio monitor. Mirror's Edge is the same thing, be forced to play the game with the black bars because "Oh I am sorry, my monitor isn't 16/9". It's push, push, push and dipping into your pocket in more ways than one. bullsh I.T.

@orpanyd
Buy a new 16:9 monitor! ;)
WeKillandDie 1 year ago
@orpanyd
i hear you. i want to upgrade to an led monitor from my hp w2408, but ill have to go with a "1080p" monitor. what was wrong with 16:10? why the hell did movies go 16:9? 16:10 is more pixels. more pixels = higher resolution. wtf?

@Spliffer45
I wonder what a 5450 would say to 3DMark11, it's obviously made for current super high end stuff but I wonder what lower end stuff with DX11 would do on it, and I wonder if it can complete the entire test.
Usul573 7 months ago
@Spliffer45
My 580gtx 3GB sweats heavily through this even, under 20fps at one part. It's brutal.

For what? For money of poor casuals... You dont want good gameplay, great experience of interaction with software, you just want to buy a new gpu too see a little better virtual reality, because it is all you really have. Stop, where you stand. Look behind. Think. Use Linux.

@ExpanderDJ I have a Phenom II x4 945 @ 3GHz (stock), 2GB DDR3 @ 1333MHz and a HD5450 (650MHz core, 680MHz memory) and I got 4FPS (except in the physics test, in which I got 11FPS).
So either you are lying or something is wrong with your PC.

Prolly an OC´d I7 EE, 8-12 GB RAM, SLI 570 or X-fire 5970 (perhaps even 6970) etc.
Lunaspice 1 year ago
@Lunaspice The highest end card in the 6000's series is the 6990, not the 6970. They changed the order.
