Some metro lines extend outside the city (outside zone 1), but still obey ratp policy of unique ticket price. This create weird situations, like for example in La Defense, the metro station is considered in zone 1 when adjacent Rer station (where this video was taken) and suburban train station are in zone 3, so it's more expensive to go to La Defense by Rer or suburban train than by metro, while that's the same place...
The metro is operated by RATP, which is Paris City transportation company, the fare system is: unique price ticket. Normal regional trains are operated by scnf (national company), prices are based on distance. For month or year plans, the region is divided in 6 zones, Paris city being zone 1.
Rer lines A and B are operated by both scnf and ratp, ticket price is based on zones, C D E by scnf alone, same fare system as other regional trains.
I was wondering, is the metro fare system integrated into the RER system, and is the RER inside the same paid fair area as the metro allowing for tree transfers? At suburban stations, does the RER share tracks and stations platforms with SNCF trains? If yes, then where is the RER fares collected? I don't know if the SNCF platforms are in the RER faregate area, or are there no faregates at shared RER/SNCF platforms?

The sound of the train

The sound it makes at it departs reminds me a lot of Paris. Some metro lines make it too (Lines 1 and 13).
ed1976atx 3 years ago
No, this's a typical RER sound. The MP89 doesn't sound like that at all.
