  • How sad I hadn't realised she had gone! Many a happy night spent there over the years.....

  • I have so many fantastic memories on this boat. I thought the revolving dancefloor was life changing!

It's a shame they let it get in a state - it's like seeing a friend leave!

  • It really was a heap by the end like, shame it was left to get in that state...

  • I was on the tuxedo a few times in Glasgow, i also got knocked back a couple of times for being too pissed, not easy walking up a sloping gangplank tryin to look sober with 3 or 4 bouncers watching you, good days.

  • I was a student in Newcastle for four years and in all that time I never once set foot aboard this rusting relic and I am extremely proud of it. However, I was sad to hear about The Cooperage closing down; now there is something worth saving!

  • @BuzbyWuzby Well the boat used to be thee place to go in its pride it was popular with celebritys it died the death when more clubs opened inthe city centre and and the wrong crowd moved in from 2003ish. But yeh i miss the Cooperage not sure why it shut down think it was due to the decline of quayside.

  • Im so gutted it is gone ive got some fond memories...I nearly shed a tear watching this

  • I used to be in the marketing management who ran the boat in the early 90's we turned it round from just 1 night per wk, and started the student night. I remember dj'ing in the main room, and the delay from the base was so bad as the base bounced off the pillars from the monitors. My collegue and i who had the ideas left near it's end in glasgow as we were head hunted by James Mortimer to run the Hamilton Palace... If you were around in those days, you may remember us. Days we will never forget!

  • I feel sad.

I live in Australia but spent 6 months in Newcastle in 1996 playing cricket and had the honour of visiting this nightspot a few times. I will never forget the revolving dancefloor and the piano bar upstairs where I continually had to duck due to the low roof.

Where has the Tuxedo Royale gone???
