He's not entirely responsible, of course. But he plays a major part and he carries the same bigotry-happy attitude that people, might I remind him (like he'll read this, right?), used against homosexuals like us for centuries.

And just like the homophobes, he doesn't care. No amount of logic will help him see this because, like the homophobes, logic has no place in one's bigotry.

I sincerely hope he stops hating himself someday.

Julian is trying to avoid feeling responsible, and that's obvious, especially near the end. He's trying to pretend that he's not responsible for the kind of loathsome, destructive attitudes towards fat people that the industry he works for breeds into society, an attitude HE HIMSELF engaged in constantly throughout the interview. He fails to make the connection between his institutionalized size hatred and his own rant about anorexic kids. Anyone who thinks he's right is as delusional as he is.
