  • From about 3:35 to about 3:50, there is about a fifteen-second little piece of musical heaven ... then, again, right before the close of the song at about 4:33 to about 4:48, there is another one. Absolute perfect little music snippets from an amazing group of musicians. Beautiful stuff.

  • Skynyrd does have SO many excellent songs. They go way beyond their well-known hits, such as, "Sweet Home Alabama" or "Freebird." It's definitely worth one's time to listen to their catalog from beginning to the present time --- for instance, take some time over a weekend and have a Lynyrd Skynyrd marathon! [laughing] Seriously, it's a fun thing to do. One of a kind band. So wonderful.

  • Can someone tell me ... is this the original 1968 recording (first one by the band, along with Michelle on a 45) ... it sounds great, but almost sounds too good production-wise, like it's been re-issued with some polish ....

  • its so beautiful!!!

  • Man, I was singing along the first time I listened to this! Does that make me a true Skynyrd addict or what? :D

  • @speakers79 : No lookin' back now, put on yer seatbelt.

  • A melhor banda de todas, lynyrd skynyrd, nesse ano aqui no brasil \o/

  • THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING. I AM 46 I HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS SONG WOW!! I CAN JUST IMAGINE GARY & ALLEN PRACTICING THIS SONG.LONG HAIRED KIDS FROM JACKSONVILLE

  • MAYBE IT'S JUST ME, BUT, I THOUGHT LYNYRD SKYNYRD WAS ABOUT TO TOUCH THE SKY BACK THEN, TILL THAT AIRPLANE CRASH.

I THINK THERE ONE OF THE MOST OVERLOOKED ROCK BANDS.

MAN, IMAGINE IF THE ORIGINAL LINE UP HADN'T DIED.

THEY'D BE KICKING ASS IN THE 80's.

  • RIP friend

  • what an amazing song! i want to belive that there are more ppl listening to them than what we think... im 17 and its my favorite band, and most of my friends know them, and even if they dont listen to them a lot, they respect them, for the music they make!

btw can any1 tell me from wich album this song is?.. cant find it :O

  • @AlezardGr

amen brother, im 16 in Australia, barely anyone here knos skynyrd, i think im the only aussie that love southern rock.

  • @benwety95 Your wrong there mate. I've been an avid fan of Skynyrd since the 70's. I'm 49 and live in Melbourne Australia. I wish the new band would tour. The old band was going to tour Australia in 1978....RIP.

  • collectybles

  • @AlezardGr Collectybles

  • @AlezardGr it is on "lynyrd skynyrd collectybles"....it was never put on any of their studio albums..but they put this and a few other amazing unknown songs on the collectybles album

  • not to be pushy, but the lyrics should be "play my music til i hit paydirt" just saying lol.

  • We gotta keep southern rock and classic rock and that starts by supporting the up and coming bands that are out now a good one is the Six Shot Revival out of Atltanta GA there on youtube take a sec and listen

  • Hey if you like skynyrd check out my guitar cover of tuesdays gone. Im currently begining to work on another video featuring covers of multiple skynyrd guitar solos. please comment and rate. thanks!

  • @Jc0smillozsx

aye brother, if u do simple man i would appreciate it if its not to much trouble

  • Awesome! I never heard this song before but it's really awesome. The real Skynyrd, back in the 70's that was something...

  • crazy craig you hit it right on the head. the talent that lynard has came to an end in that plane crash. the volume of songs that never got air time at the radio stations are the songs that lynard should be known for.

lilbaz2 your the only one to post this song and its one of the best lynard songs thanks for the posting

  • This is the very first song they ever recorded in 1968. Ronnie: Vocals and lots of J & B. Gary: Guitar Allen: Guitar and the lead break. Larry Junstrom: Bass Guitar( original bassist of Lynyrd Skynyrd and mainstay bassist of 38 Special). Bob Burns: Drums

  • that solo sounds like ed king, does anybody know?

  • ed king wasn't in the band yet...this was 1970. Ricky Medlocke was still playin bass, and Gary Rossington was lead guitar.

  • @spanglerman30 rickey only played drums in skynyrd until when he joioned again in 96

  • this sounds amazing on the headphones !

  • Need all my friends to talk to.

    badass

  • this is just a badass song!!! dont get much better than this

  • i fucking love this song!!! i think they should make this song more public. cuz ive realized its not that popular but its an amazing song!! O.O

  • yep, same with most skynyrd songs though

  • yeah not many people listen to lynyrd skynyrd anymore. i only heard of it cuz of my dad =]. he loves lynyrd skynyrd. most people my age are listening to hip hop/pop/rap. all that shit. but i like rock :D

  • @kvncldrn

Heh, you are just like me :D

  • @31Roadsterford yeah!! haha

  • You're 100% right. Skynyrd has so many songs like this one that get no airplay, yet they still kick ass. I think it hurts they're image today. Most people know Skynyrd only through hearing Sweet Home Alabama and that's a damn shame.

  • I agree with you 100% crazycraigdolf

So many people think of Skynyrd ad Sweet home alabama and Freebird and a few select others...but Skynyrd had ao many more to offer...just listen to all the CD. I have shown alot of my friends all that Skynyrd had to offer..,..and turned then into real Skynyrd fans

  • @crazycraigdolf when im on the radio there aint never been lynyrd skynyrd not even sweet home

  • tony u said my pick is that things goin on

  • what an incredible melody these kids made back then... if you start with this song and work your way up to "That Smell "you can hear how the music matured.....incredible song writers and musicians...a shame alot of people just think they only wrote 3 hits...you know the ones they play on the radio....

  • nearly everyone i know says they only have 2 good songs even nthough they have never heard any of their other songs.

i dont understand why people don't listen to them more

  • those two songs i'd assume would be "free bird" and "sweet home alabama" both damn good songs, but this and a T for Texas are my two favorite.

  • @lilbaz2 your totally right... cant really see skynyrd getting passed on through the generations by many - i certainly will, this is a great sound

  • @lilbaz2 agree man..ive been listening to them since i was young..and have heard every song..and it piss me off when people say they only have 2 hits...(they make no since!!)

  • @lilbaz2 i really appreciate you uploading these songs man..true classics..from a true skynyrd fan!!!

  • @TonyBeazley i listen to them everyday and have been for nealy 40 years

  • why cant they ever play this song on the radio? it kicks ass!

  • One of the first songs they ever wrote

  • This song is why Ed King joined the band...he loved it!!!

  • thank fuck i been trying 2 find this song for like 20 minutes

  • Good song, Makes me think of boot camp and leaving my friends.
