Umm... hehe, well it's a little hard to translate. While "naisen kainaloon" literally means "into a woman's armpit" what the phrase means is into a position where someone has their arm around you. So a better translation is "And if he stay's in love with the woman's arm around him..."
solocitizen: yes that is actually quite strange translation... zt3fan has clearly translated the words straight from finnish to english, its more like "In a woman's arms" than "in a woman's armpit"
lmao i dont know why i totally didnt see the time you gave for when it says that. when i saw it i nearly died. that was nuts. funny how translation works sometimes.
Sen pitäis olla "tunnetko jo rakkauden, sen ONNEN hiljaisen" ja "kun luodut maan, voi TOISTAAN rakastaa" ja "tunnetko jo rakkauden, jo kohta LÖYDÄT sen". On kyllä hieno kappale ja hieno leffa!
Hi, i like your english translation "tunnetko jo rakkauden". May i translate it on german and upload the video? I ask you that because you're the owner of the translation and it's just nice to ask something before you do it without the consent of the owner
we actually say it like "in somebody's armpit" but the meaning is.. mm. different in english. it means like someone's hugging someone. holding someone, you know? it might sound weird but we use it. :P
that's because it's transalted from the finnish version. it's not able to translate the finnish version correctly from english, so the lyrics are a bit different in every version. that's why these english subtitles are different too.
well we usually say in armpit when someone is hugging someone. :P it's hard to explain but we use it. it doesn't mean you really go under someone's armpit :D argh. can't explain it right.
i can see whats happening and they don't have a clue they'll fall in love and heres the bottom line our trios down to two. the sweet caress of twilight theres magic everywhere and with all this romantic atmosphere disasters in the air.
i did this song for my junior cert so i know it pretty well.
Nalas voice is absolutely perfect. The translation is a bit confusing since Finnish has got many words or sentences which as liteatelly translated can sound very very ridiculous.
"Varkain käy se yössä sydämen" and "Stealing trough" do not quite match in this contexts, as Yadyadyada said. "Varkain" refers more correctly to "sneaking", but doesn't necessarily have the negative tint of that. Something happens or goes "varkain" when it happens without anyone noticing, secretly.
The whole phrase would translate more correctly "Secretly it goes (goes by, happens) in the heart of the night, common emotion."
Well g is actually used in Finnish, but not so much! Fron example: Kuningas. (King) :DDD lol.. I love the song!<3 Finnish version is the best of them all. :)
This was a nice vid, but I think some lyrics were a bit too straightly translated. For example, "varkain"... well, it really doesn't have much to do with stealing in that context.
And all that, little mistakes.
But yeah, I didn't mean to hurt anybody's feelings, I know it must be a difficult job sometimes to translate these :)
This is the easiest Ive ever seen Finnish - nice and slowly sung so you can follow it - Im sure its all to lul you into a false sense of security - Ive tried finnish but gave up after the 50th tense! If anyone knows an easy way to learn basic finnish online please let me know. And greetings from Scotland!
i thought finnish was impossible to sing...but this is wonderful...the text is so alike the swedish song...compare the 2 songs in english!.. is so alike!
That part is bit hard to get in other languages, because if you say in Finnish "I'm in someone's armpit" it can mean that someone's holding/hugging you.
English subs are here because the orginal version's words don't fit in finnish. lyricks are changed in every language, in every disney movie because THEY SOUND LIKE GRAB. lol. these subs are written because you may wanto understant these finnish lyricks !!!
Exactly, and remember that languages have their own idioms. In English we say something unchangeable is "written in stone," but that idea would not translate into other languages.
So beautiful song in finnish <3 oho nehän puhhuu suomea! xD
And hehe the armpit part is wrong. Yea it is a DIRECT tranlation from "kainalo", but in the finnish version they mean like in woman's "arms" or "lap" xD haha maybe not like that but still.
Nami-Aquatique, the subtitles are just right for the finnish version, the lyrics are different in every version. And if you say that english is orginal, you are maybe right but wrong too. Disney-movies are always orginal in every languages, they are for kids.
no the armpit part is correct xD its just that thats how we say it in finnish. it would kinda be something like... under a womans feet or something :'D
