haha..the human torch was faster than the speed of light? mr. fantastic and invisible girl fought for truth and honor and both turned invisible?? i loved the toys but geez, did these guys ever read the comics?? lol great memories though
Cool announcement, it's not of my time, but it reminds me, when I was kid , and in the stores, there only were the action figures of "Super Powers"(the Justice League): Batman, Superman, Robin, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman and Captain Lightning(another name of Shazam in Spanish konwn as Capitán Rayo)Once and again, fine video.
@Immortal1000 Yes, I know, but In Colombia, he was called "Capitán Rayo"(Captain Lightning). The action figure was like Superman, but with grey and red suit, yellow cape, and he had a lightning on his chest(similar to "Flash" lightning).
Isn't it funny how the narrator of the commercial almost sounded like he didn't know what to say next? i.e.: "The Green Goblin- Spider-Man's...strange enemy." How about Conan and his sword of justice? LOL! I can just see Arnold now- "Sword of Justice? Crom! The Sword of Justice is no other than the Governor of California- AYYAYAAYAYA! Now quick! Get into thee choppah!" The guy did not even realize that Mr. Fantastic does not have the power of invisibility. Oh well what can we do?
The most interesting thing about this to me is this: How often, these days, would you see Marvel AND DC heroes in the same commercial? Answer: Never. Things sure do change, don't they. :-)
That's what I've been saying! Thanks to Mego, DC and Marvel was one big happy family. But when Mego went out of business, the two companies practically became deadly enemies!
So that's why I get sentimental for the Mego Superhero figure lineup. I remembered them fondly as a kid.
see, his is the reason i didnt want to get into comics at first. this complete gayness was how i thote the comics world was... TRUTH! JUSTICE! WE MUST ALL WAYS DO GOOD! PEACE! HAPPINESS! MORE JUSTICE! like shut...the..fuck...up...
Captain America´s Sleeves were Blue and there were no gloves. I Remembre I Fixed this mistake
With a Pair of Gloves Borrowed from one of the Two Batmen i had (One of Them was older and too deteriorated, all except the gloves) I´ve painted those gloves red with latex and my Grandma sewed the white sleeves.
I had a bunch of these... Thor's helmet never stayed on which was very annoying. Iron Man was the coolest. I just made Conan kill people, he didn't fit in with super heroes.
The problem I had as a kid was that the emblem stickers on the heroes never stayed on. I finally had to scotch tape the stickers back on Superman & Batman's chests.
Well that sure did JUSTICE to the characters. LOL! How racist was the "Great BLACK superhero" Wow who gave this guy the script I mean "Mr Fantastic and The Invisible Girl...BOTH have the powers of invisibility!"
I don't think it was so much racism as maybe an unintentionally backhanded compliment. This was the "Black Power" era so they probably just meant to point it out to potential black customers, with less than impressive reslt. The black Barbie of the seventies also stressed "She's black!"
It's just a commercial. It's silly as Hell, granted. But it was never meant to be an accurate dissertation on their backgrounds. It was just meant to tell kids these toys exist and they should buy them. Showcase them in dynamic scene and hope the kids are impressed. Accuracy is pretty much takes a back seat to presentation.
I find Green Goblin's "Spiderman's strange foe" amusing
This was great -- I had most of these when I was a kid. But I can't watch this goddamn thing without thinking of Twisted Toyfare Theater...especially the look on the Thing's face.

Wow, I can't believe that they combined DC and MARVEL, man can't they do this today?

"green GIANT Super-hero, the Hulk" ------the figure was SMALLER than all the "regular sized" characters.
Mr. Fantastic can turn invisible?!?

Mego certainly blazed the trail with the first female action figures. I had to sell most of my collection a couple of years ago. Damned recession.

I get very sentimental for these figures (I had some of them as a kid!). This was when DC and Marvel was one big happy family under the same roof.
Then, Mego went out of business, and it was never the same after that. Today, the competition between the two companies gets more heated than ever.

That was Mr Fantastic. With his power of invisibility he sneaked in and floated an air biscuit.
I heard that Iron Man's head was originally meant to be used for a Dr Doom.

That great BLACK superhero! Conan's "Sword of Justice". So many good moments. Nice to see Catwoman getting a pardon like that.
Also, 3/4 of the FF have screwy descriptions. It's cool to see something that obviously wasn't fine-toothed by Marvel Inc.
