  • Sydney 2000 sucked sooo bad for these poor gymnasts even the gymnasts reported the floor being way too slippery I hope the 2012 olympics in London won't be too controversial

  • i feel very bad for her. it's not okay that they don't give her her medal back. she was a beautiful romanian gymnast

  • Is she allowed to try and get her medal back again even though she tried before in 2004? Cause she went out and earned the gold medal even on a jacked up horse and its ridiculous that Andrea took the fall for the team doctors negligence

  • This Olympics must have sucked for most of the gymnasts. People fell on the incorrect vault, and others who were in the lead fell on their final apparatus. And now this poor gymnast gets her gold taken away. :(

  • I love Andreea! One of favorite Romanian!

  • force romanian :X

  • gosh this was amazing on the night. still gives me chills

  • they can take the medal, but they can't take the memory. i can't imagine working for something since i was a toddler; all of 4 years old and then have it taken away over bullshit. man, i would've flipped out on everything aussie if i was her, but she handled it gracefully. btw, has anyone seen her, lately? she's 28 and unbelievably gorgeous. it should be a sin to be that talented and that beautiful.

  • The true champ!

  • She's so great. She deserved that medall so much! Best routine I' ve ever seen!

  • These games were just a mess.....they should have started the meet over......that's all there is to it.

  • Actually what happened is she has her medal but just not her title cause what happened was....Liu Xuan (CHN) gave her bronze medal to Maria Olaru (ROU) who then gave her silver medal to Simona Amânar (ROU) then who gave her gold medal to Andreea Raducan (ROU).

  • I remember watching this when I was 10 and hoping she would do great because this was the routine that would ensure her the medal.later that day when the medals were awarded, everyone in the world saw three Romanian flags rising. We won gold, silver and bronze. I don't care what they say, she deserved that medal, she worked for it. I guess envy goes very deep...

  • I LOVE this routine, but where are her pirouettes? aren't they required?

  • I could understand if the drug was still banned, but this is an absolute miscarriage of justice, what she worked her whole life to earn, gone.

  • Love this routine!!!!!!!!!

  • Very difficult routine

  • your so amazing andreeA

  • Thheee REAL champion ^^^

  • No matter what she is the 2000 Olympic AA Champion!

  • @djprojectus I'm American, and I think she deserved the gold.

  • @itstheapocalypse yes,i exagerated and i will delete that comment, but i was so frustrated in that moment by so many negative comment about a gymnast who was in her such a short career, nothing but greatness.

  • I love her landings!

  • aww it's still hard to watch this.....you see how overjoyed and elated she is. And to think, only a few days later, everything would fall apart for her....

  • she had such an artistic landing pose. Exquisite.

  • linda, linda, linda, mi favorita¡

  • I think of this Olympics in gymnastics the Olympics where everything went wrong for everyone. It's as if the whole stadium had collapsed and people were killed.

  • love the little step dancing part :)

  • Andree Raducan: the TRUE all around olympic champion.

  • Give it time though I am sure she will get the medal back...just like the us was finally awarded the bronze team medal.

  • She will always be the 2000 Olympic All-Around Champion to me

  • You know its funny at this recent summer olympics, and how the NBC commentators ( i think they are idiots to begin with) make a big fuss OVER everyhing. It was odd that they didnt make montage of Romania and Andrea R. "The long Romanian tradition" yada yada! and the slow painful death of Romanian gymnastics (thats I how picture it) and how the comentators would talk so much garbage. I hate the US commentators even though im from the US.

  • awesome! a perfect gymnast a perfect routine!. She doesn't need that Medal cuz we all know that she is the best with or without it.

  • One of my favorite gymnasts. :)

  • At the end she pulls her arm down like 'YES!'

:( The IOC should give her medal back now that the drug is off the ban list!

  • @Gr33nkiwi But that would require the IOC to admit that they were wrong and heaven forbid they make a mistake.

  • @Gr33nkiwi Simona Amanar (her teammate who originally placed second) gave the medal to her so even though amanar is listed as the winner Andreea has the medal. Also Liu Xuan (original fourth place winner) refused to take the bronze so the IOC still has that medal, unless they awarded it as some other competition

  • @bbhouk1 Yes, I know. But I'm talking about 'officially' giving her back her medal :)

  • @Gr33nkiwi in that case, i wish they would too!

  • @Gr33nkiwi Lol...even Tim Daggett in the 2004 Athens team final said, "Give it back! Give it back!"

  • @Gr33nkiwi Not just her, but they should give all the ones who have lost their medals b/c of this type of things their gold, too. It's happened in other sports, too. So ridiculously unfair! She EARNED this medal!

  • @Gr33nkiwi It was actually put back on recently =\

  • @Gr33nkiwi

    Yeah, that's so cute.

What kills me with the disqualification is she didn't take any more than was allowed technically. The only reason she showed up as having taken too much was because she was so small. Simona took the same pill and did fine. That's just crap.

  • it s the best ...wonderful

  • I will always remember Andreea Raducan as the true Olympic All-Around champion!

  • @andro669 Me too!

  • omg! i have the same floor music!

  • For the love of God, IOC, give HER medal back!!!

  • she didn't broke any rule! she didn't know that the pill she take was forbidden.

  • Tell that to Javier Sotomayor - cocaine in his bloodstream in 1999, allowed to take part in next year's Olympic Games. Fast forward another year and he's positive for nandrolone. Andreea unknowingly took a "drug" that did NOT enhance her performance and that was off the list of banned substances in no time.

  • Is this case already closed by IOC? I mean, Is there any change they give her medal back?

  • @Catboy35: She did try to get it back a few years ago (I think it was in 2006). Didn't hapen, but I'll say it again: it bloody should!

  • I knew that but I thought IOC could reconsider that horrible decision.

  • @Catboy35: And admit, maybe for the first time in their lives, that they were wrong? That would be the day!

  • Let him/her (protege5mpa) talk... andreea the best!

  • did she get gold?

  • yes. but after 3 days they took it from her because she was taking some aspirin ............. .

  • it has the same composition

and even like that... why is the reason you call me idiot?

    try to be nice.

  • Watching this, one can readily see how the Sudafed gave her a little extra boost.... :/

(That was sarcasm, by the way.)

Seriously, Andreea deserves this gold all the more for, A) having to vault on a faulty horse, B) Staying incredibly consistent when virtually everyone else in this meet faltered, and C) Doing this all while woozy from cold medicine.

The IOC should be ashamed of itself.

  • The IOC doesn't know what is the meaning of 'admitting mistakes' and 'shame'. Since they already removed that substance from the ban list, they should give her the medal back and reinstall her name!

  • While I have great sympathy for the shameful way Raducan was treated by the IOC 1) a lot of other gymnasts also had to vault on the mis-set vault, many of whom could've been badly hurt.Andreea was at less risk for falling due to her height; 2) Virtually everyone else faltered *because* of that stupid vault error!Nearly breaking your neck & not knowing why when you've always hit that vault would shake up anyone.Andreea did a great job but IMO they should've chucked ALL the results & started over.

  • Comment removed

  • More gymnasts should have Irish music for their floor routines (like her and Moceanu)

  • I'm proud to be an romanian!!!!!

  • Go Romania!!!

  • no, I'm not poor but I'm not rich, I'm a normal person from the poor-rich aspect. :) why?

  • nice music.........riverdance

  • I love the choreography, she had such a unique style, she did plain moves, not easy, plain, but she added her own flair to it to make it work for her. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't u need a passages of front and back tumbling to fulfill the elements required!?!?!?!?! She only has back

  • punch front on her 3rd pass

  • No she does a punch front tuck on the third pass and lands forewards.

  • Yes thank you, I can't believe I missed that.

  • and the drugged isn't even banned anymore... they should give it back

  • Was it banned when she took it? YES!

  • She deserved that Gold, it was her team physician that recommened it anyway, why should she be punished?

  • Amazing, never seen anything like it. Its a shame she lost her gold medal because she was tested positive for a banned stimulant

  • After all the free publicity, Sudafed should have hired Andreea to be their spokeswoman. Her slogan: "Sudafed. It took away my cold, then it took away my gold."

  • Hahahaha.

  • LMAO the funniest thing I have ever read on youtube.lol

  • "NUROFEN iti ia aurul cu mana!" - in romanian

  • yeah, thats really not funny

  • brilliant sarcasm

  • @mka800 your joke is funny......but the subject is sad. i'd like to throttle the people who took her medal.....

  • @mka800 hahahahaha!!!!!!!!

  • I love at the end how she's like YES! and pulls her fist back

  • aha ha me too:))

  • I think she practiced that as well! Great gymnast, Great person!

  • Practiced what?

  • you know...pulling her fist back, like a winner...she must of practiced it, just in case she won

  • Oh i dont think that's something you actually need to practice.

  • Of course you don't :-)...it just seems so natural as if it were a part of the routine..it's just a funny thought, that's all

  • all i have to say is she performed this with a cold on performance decreasing drugs!!! amazing!!!

  • actually no it wouldn't have, it's actually a perfomance decreasing drug and if causes dizziness so she really could have injured herself out there :(

  • Actually, it would have. Sudafed for all practical purposes is a mild amphetomimetic.

  • she's magic *-*

  • I'm so glad Simona Amanar handed her gold over to Raducan....that was the right thing to do. Great sportsmanship.

  • That seems an act of a true champion. I`ve always seen Amanar as a great gymnast.

  • not really. Khorkina took a spill off the bars as well. She did the same thing in 96. If she would had received the score that she earned in the EF on bars, she still would had placed 2nd to Raducan.

  • Really?! How about Athens 2004?! There wasn`t too law, correct me if I`m wrong ...

  • she fell off on bars because she had crashed on vault.

  • This floor exercise is the best I`ve ever seen!

  • watch the one from '99!!! i like it vvv much :P

  • It wasn't even a fair competetion with vault being the wrong height. Many gymnasts fell on vault or got injured which effect their rest of their performance for the rest of the meet, not knowing the the vault was the wrong height and some fell on the other events believing they won't have any chance in winning a AA medal after they fell on vault. If the vault was the correct height, the outcome of the AA would have been different.

  • I don't disagree that this AA had some of the worst flaws ever to exist in Olympic history, but if you will recall, Raducan was in the first group to vault, and she vaulted with it at the wrong height. This doesn't make it any less of a huge disaster, but it should help to know that the champion did not have any advantages as she vaulted at the same height as Khorkina and Elise Ray.

  • Still, part of being a true champion is being able to hadle mistakes mentally. As much as I like Khorkina, for example, she should have been able to put the bad vault out of her mind and nail bars... since bars was her best event. The Romanians were the most consistant throughout the competition, and individually, Raducan was more consistant than Khorkina. So, even thought the vault was a horrible mistake, I think it separated the true competors from the rest of the pack.

  • Incredible! She was the real winner.

  • s w e e t . . . g i r l . . . . ;)

  • they were really jerks for taking away the medal from her. she was the best and that stupid excuse with the "drug" was so pathetic...

anyway, we all know she was the real winner so fuck all the rest!

  • all the rest? the rest were her teammates, Simona Amanar and Maria Olarú

  • yes, you're right. it was a joke taking away her gold medal for the AA, but they were right in what they have done.

yes, it was'nt HER fault, but...and that's the case...it doesn't matter which fault it was or not...the only that mattered was, that she took a forbidden medicine.

therefore, i can understand the descision of the IOC...

Nevertheless, she IS the true and only AA gold medal winner, no doubt about it.

  • And the worst thing is...now the 'drug' that she took is ALLOWED in today's competition!

  • exactly!!!!

  • I bet this "drug" was just a pretext for CIO to steal her gol medal, from political reasons. Think about it! AA - 3 romanian girls, all from an "unimportant" country, compared to Russia or China:

    1.ANDREEA RADUCAN,from Romania

    2.SIMONA AMANAR, from Romania

    3.MARIA OLARU from Romania, too.

Liu Xuan from China was next, then Russia, on 5th place. China and Russia, also known as big and very important countries were humiliated by romanian team ...

  • I could hardly call Romania unimportant when it's one of the most decorated countries in the world when it comes to gymnastics. And I could hardly call Russia and China's performance (and medal count; 7 medals out of 8 for Russia?) in the EF humiliating.

  • I was talking about the AA !No.1 - Romania, No2 - Rom, No3 - Romania. From that point of view, YES, China and Russia were humiliated, since Liu Xuan was on fourth place and Lobazniuk fifth!

Second - My comment it`s about the fact that politics makes the law in sport! Think about that! 3. How do you explain that after Sydney the "drug" was no longer "banned" ? Anyway, it would not be the first time when Romania is robbed by the gold medal(Nadia C. ,1980, Moscow).

  • My point is that China didn't really stand a chance to medal in the AA. Russia did as long as Sveta, Lena and Katya hit. They didn't. Besides,Raducan was 2nd in qualification, Olaru was the reigning world champion and Amanar was Olympic&World AA medallist. They were forerunners for a medal anyway. Don't make it sound like they're ordinary gymnasts who won by default!

PS: Nadia herself said she was only second best in Moscow. With scores carrying through from the TF, her fall from the UB hurt her.

  • Comaneci was not robbed by the AA gold medal. Actually she said that Davidova was better than her. Comaneci falls on the UB in TO. Do you remember that or do you know about that? Team Optionals scores carrying to AA.

Karoly said that about those Olympic Games but every one who knows about gymnastics knows the truth

  • I remember watching this when I was 13 and she was such a great idol of mine at the time. It's such a shame that they took the gold away from her (and they took that drug off the banned list right after!) but she will always be the AA winner of Sydney 2000 in my mind!

  • Beautiful, flawless!

  • wo0o0o0w i miss her

i love you greetz from mexico

  • simple gorgeous! :)

  • She is darling and AMAZING!

  • llevo 8 años viendo este ejercicio en mi camara y no encuentro fallos para bajar esas 0.18 decimas en un ejercicio de 10. me encanta esta gimnasta

  • Everything in this routine is just PERFECT! So, why just 9,825 ??? Can someone tell me why? Oh, sorry, I forgot - Andreea is just a romanian !

  • Well it depends on the start value.

  • OMG, after all these years, I still feel sorry for her... what a pity she left gymnastics, she was great...

  • That was the main CIO goal: to make her leave gym! U saw how good she was! Btw, her nickname was "New Nadia"!

  • I think she is awesome she deserved that golden medal

  • She should got at least 9,900 for that routine!

  • Round-off whipback to double pike=Awesomeness
