I'm a aspie and I can barely tolerate "neurotypicals", all of them seems so stupid to me that college feels like hell :( I'm more comfortable @ my home, alone in my room reading, not even in the library.

I don't know if I'm an aspie, but I have recently suspected myself to be. It just makes sense. I know what you mean, I think and act very differently than anyone I've ever met. I can't believe what my college campus did. They remodeled the library so that it's not a library any more, it's a "learning commons." Half of the bookshelves are gone, it's just rows and rows of computers. On top of that, there's a coffee shop inside. How can I possibly read with a coffee machine making a bunch of noise?!

Teaching a student who is incapable of learning is possibly the most frustrating experience a teacher can have. No amount of patience and understanding is ever enough to keep going. Eventually, the teacher will give up on that student, because they don't learn. Students who cannot learn, never advance, no matter how much the teacher tries to help. It's not that these students are stupid or demotivated, they simply cannot learn. For a teacher, the reward is seeing a student advance.

I never felt comfortable at my college library. People were talking all day & everyday. You couldn't just concentrate on your research, the dorm was better.

The heavy set guy talks way to fast, It is also an assumption that a person who is handicapped or has aspergers knows what they to need help them progress in a college situation, The college should find ways to accommodate the student with disabilities as well as find ways to improve the individuals limitations.

@SeltsamerAttraktor Doctors still use Anafranil on some Aspergers syndrome kids and they don't help much. In fact, studies have shown that autistic traits in kids may have more to do with lack of sleep in some children. Kids are getting less sleep than ever before. Doctors would much rather subscribe a pill to cure a personality trait or condition than recommend anything alternative. It's all about money. Personality traits don't need cures. It's blind intolerance and indifference.

@Samael51760, I haven't heard of Anafranil being used for Asperger's whatsoever. I take Anafranil, but it's not for my Asperger's, it's for my OCD. And it helps my OCD quite a bit. Medication is the answer for most neuropsych disorders, because they are all brain disorders, and medication treats neurotransmitter abnormalities. Medication is not evil, as many people think.

@Thesexygal190 thats what they told me too... and yeah the Label just undermined everything i was, i was 18 when i was diagnosed and suddenly it made me into a this monster... got in the army and then discharged two and ahalf years later because even after proving my worht i was discharged as a risk because of my autism... it may be real but most organisations that should understand it dont and use this as a throw away term.

@Samael51760 I would believe you if (1) I didn't have painful, personal experience, and (2) I didn't know how Asperger's was first discovered, and (3) I didn't know that the actual greediest people (drug manufactures) haven't been able to come up with a way of convincing the public (much less doctors) that even one of their drugs is actually effective for treating actual Asperger's. They have been trying hard and are embarrassed at their failure. If it was fake, they would have a drug for it.

Wow!! As a mother of a daughter (just recently diagnosed with AS) going into her senior year in high school, I was thrilled to view both parts of this video!! I have forwarded to her high school counselor, her social psychologist, and others to help them understand Aspergers and academic and social transitions facing my wonderful daughter!! Bravo!!!!
