  • Does anyone know where I can find the particular album/EP that THIS version of the song can be found on? Every other version I look for isn't as high quality as this version.

  • I never knew that this music was written before FellSilent's first album came out, I thought this was the result of them breaking up...

  • the guitars sound better on the demo, meatier, glad they changed the vocals though.

  • is this the Demo

  • If your pronouncing it "DUH GENTUH" your doing it wrong and don't know what you're talking about.

  • I can't stand all this petty sub-genre bullshit. When people ask me about my musical preferences, I simply state 'heavy metal'. To reel off all of these stupid names people are giving metal distinctions would kill me.

  • i hate it when people label music, in my case its metal or its not you never see sub genres in other fields of music its mostly just metal why is that.

  • @crisisrising1 There are subgenres in every other genre. It's just that Metalheads tend to be more critical and therefore like to put things in categories so they know what NOT to listen to.

  • @crisisrising1 calling something "metal" is labeling, Mr. hypocrite.

  • Too bad ''Djent'' isn't a genre. Great song though!

  • @Gunnar192 Who are you to say it isn't?

  • @Lateralusmaster Well my name is Gunnar, and look it up. The ''inventors'' of ''Djent'' even say it's not a genre and that it's rediculous.

  • @Gunnar192 No, Meshuggah made the term and Lamb Of God said it wasn't a genre. Even so, just because ONE person says it isn't doesnt mean it isn't. I bet you believe in God because the bible says so too.

  • @Lateralusmaster Actually I don't like religion at all. ''Because ONE person says it''. Periphery, Meshuggah, Vildhjarta, Lamb of God, the list keeps going on. Look it up on Wikipedia if you have to. And why would you say that I believe in god? That's just rediculous.

  • This is like the only "djent" song i like... And years better than the new version. The one with Chester Bennington singing...

  • What is the genre of pictures at like 4:10? I love those images!

  • @Calibur43 ....Finally someone who really understands what Djent ACTUALLY means... u can still go polyrythmic, and progressive without being Djent... Djent was a word made up just to describe the guitar tone... usually coming from 7 and 8 stringers...

  • @Jeremy878787 Haha! I know man! It's all about the freedom but for some reason people think djent MUST incorporate polyrhythms....

  • the image at 1:20 is called 'time trap' i believe it's the first one in the image list

  • 0.20 vildhjarta?

  • I love their band name, reminds me of the book "A Wrinkle in Time"

  • @lookingalive dude that's how i even found this band

  • @dfhellraiser4td ...4/3 doesn't exist, however 3/4 exists. Please make absolutely sure you know what you're rambling about before you start bashing others for having no idea what they're talking about. It actually makes you seem like a bigger jackass then them.

  • @UzielisBitchmade Look up some scores from Brian Ferneyhough and/or Conlon Nancarrow. Then tell me again 4/3 doesn't exist.

  • british music is so depressing

  • I love the picture at 2:05

  • djent elitists are almost as bad as dubstep elitists. christ people, its just music.. enjoy it.

  • can someone tell me what the image at 2:00 is called

  • @LotusPearl66 looks like something by Alex Gray. They artist that's done some of the Tool cover art.

  • can someone tell me what the image at 2:00 is called

  • what djent fan doesn't like hi res pics of outer space?

  • @lukyganesh

lol, yeah i'm noticing that theme too, haha. i think its pretty rad though.

  • Did you edit this, it sounds amazing. Way better than the version I have.

  • @xDisgorgementx demo version and yes it's way fucking better than the album version

  • @EuMilo Is this before they had Dan join the band? Clean voxs sound alotttt different.

  • @xDisgorgementx yeah I think this is recorded with Abisola Obasanya on vocals

  • Any fans of djent should check out Cloudkicker! He needs more fans to encourage him to play live shows!

  • I read a bit of the comments in the first page, and i saw Meshuggah being mentioned a lot. Guys, remember that Meshuggah is pretty much the father of Djent. Think of it like the origin of Death metal, Possessed began playing new style of thrash metal, and then Chuck came with DEATH defines those elements Possessed had created, and so Death Metal was born.

  • @blueapple007 Its pretty much the same with Djent, Meshuggah started playing something new, then bands like Periphery and TesseracT defined the genre into what we know as Djent today :)

  • They sound like Meshuggah because Meshuggah was the 1st band to start using the style. Djent is stylized in the playing more than it is an actual sub genre.

  • Abi was so much better. I'm sorry but with the new singer it doesn't sound like Tesseract anymore, just Tesseract with Green Day vocals. Glad they released the instrumental version of One too.

  • First, there was Silence. Then came Tesseract <3

  • amazing!

  • just because its djenty doesnt mean its a meshuggah rip off. as long as its good thats all that matters

  • where's the pic from 1:20 from! i must know D;

  • Stop saying djent.

  • Bands playing with a Djent tone and style will not be "generic" for a VERY long period of time. It is a fairly new flavor of metal that deserves to be explored the shit out of. On the off topic but still very relevant, does Skyrim releasing and selling to a much more varied crowd than Oblivion did, make it less valuable and creative? NO, let Djent bands prosper and stop defacing them because they followed in the foot steps of Meshuggah.

  • @Calibur43 Eh, it was coined in early 2000's I'm pretty sure so it's not that new, but I'll give you the fact that imo it's just starting to become more popular with bands such as periphery and AAL so I suppose there are two sides to it :). Nevertheless is fucking amazing haha.

  • @GBOBass1 It indeed is haha.

  • @Calibur43 youre fucking joking, right? you think this shit is new? metal bands have been using polyrhythms for decades. it only seems new because all you poser djent fans just started listening to metal.

  • @dfhellraiser4td All I can do is laugh at this comment, first of all djent is a guitar tone and muting concept which I mentioned before, not playing with polyrhythmic structures. Most people don't even know what a polyrhythm is and they swing the term around like they know what they're talking about. If I said 4/3 what would you interpret that as? You want a fucking polyrhythm? Listen to Danny Carey in Eulogy by Tool, I was born in 92' so yes I did just start listening to metal.

  • @Calibur43 djent isnt just a guitar tone you moron.

"Djent, in its original meaning, is a heavily digitally processed power chord, and is the name for an elastic, syncopated guitar riff. Djent as a style has been described as featuring heavily palm-muted, distorted guitar chords alongside virtuoso soloing, and is characterized by rhythmic complexity and palm-muted riffing"

its quite evident you just started listening to metal because you have no clue what youre talking about.

  • @Calibur43 i mean yeah, the guitar tone and palm muting is a big part of djent but the entirety of the songs construction is based on polyrhythmic riffing. without the basis of polyryhthms, djent would just be typical metalcore.

  • @Calibur43 How would you describe a polyrhythm? I was always taught that a polyrhythm was more than one beat at a time, while most of the rhythms people interpret as polyrhythmic are actually just odd time.....any ideas?

  • @lookingalive A polyrhythm would be something like playing triplets on the hi-hats over a just a standard 4/4 pattern on the bass and snare. The most common poly I can think of would be tapping on say a desk like the following: RL together, L, R, L, RL together, and continue pattern while counting "Tri Pa Let." The left hand is the triplet and the right is just quarter notes. It's more of triplet modulation, I'm a drummer so that's how I came to know them.

  • @Calibur43 theyre still in the same meter. they end and begin on the same beat, there is no overlapping of measures, which means thats not a polyrhythm. if that were true then all drum beats would be polyrythmic haha. they have to be either different rhythms in diff time sigs, or two completely different rythms that can still be in the same meter, but are acented on an diff pattern. such as doing triplets on a china, and quarters on the kick, but accenting the china on every 4th triplet.

  • @Calibur43 '92 born? Funny, same here! xD

  • @Calibur43 tool isn't metal you tool...djent fucking sucks...just like all the rest of the shuggah copycats

  • @Calibur43 MESHUGGAHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • @SirAlaska Damn STRAIGHT

  • @Calibur43 The footsteps of Meshuggah led to a body of water that Djent has flourished and began to swim. Meshuggah mearly discovered the beach, earning them the respect they so honestly deserve.

  • @Calibur43 Honestly it depends on the band.

There are Djent bands like Tesseract who are trying new and different things with the genre and I support them whole heartedly.

Then there's a fairly large amount who aren't so much following in the footsteps of Meshuggah so much as copy and pasting sections of Nothing and Catch 33. Which those are what are killing the genre so quickly after its birth.

  • @Calibur43 Djent AND Skyrim?! Now that is amazing!!

  • Can someone please post a link to the picture at 8:15 ?

  • @muffinz4lifez

    bit.ly\rJSJxt

  • @muffinz4lifez make that \ a /

  • 34 people like bullet for my valentine and lmfao

  • @mindmolester7 Bullet for my Valentine and LMFAO are completely different in every way, Bullet is a great band with talent, LMFAO makes me want to kill myself

  • @muffinz4lifez why you on tesseract video if your a bfmv fan?????

  • @mindmolester7 Because I listen to pretty much all rock from 60s groove, to black metal, basically anything rock and roll or metal, it's all good, TesseracT is sick, and so is Bullet, what's wrong with that?

  • @muffinz4lifez There aren't many people like you. Congratulations.

  • These vocals fit the band wayy better.

  • @DeepSeaCreature666 oh yeaaa

  • doooooooouutube woldnt let me write $4/$4

  • i guess they ALL (vildhjarta periphery tesseracT blabla) are inspired by bach meshuggah and captain beefheart in one or two ways but after decades of 4/4 many people who digged into music notice there are many melody's hidden in different patterns than whats being sold so long. but this seems to be the future, if there wasn't already fredrik thordendal being 200 years ahead.

  • @hittshappens Can you explain more of this

  • where did you find the picture in 6:55 - 7:15 from? pretty crazy collection you've got going on here. love it dude.

  • nice pictures!!!

  • Where can I get the wallpaper with the missile flying and green background?

  • Where are these pics from? Especially the adam and eve styled one with the machine coming from the heavens and the angel.

  • THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH TESSERACT!!! I AM ONE HAPPY MAN!! :D

  • There is no doubt they are a tight band, but please don't argue they sound nothing like Meshuggah, because that 8 string low end guitar sound being polyrhythmically played over top drum grooves like that IS Meshuggah's formula. As for the other half of this band's formula, being the ambience, melody, and clean singing, is not anything new either. And now that there is "Djent", with all these bands picking up 8 string guitars and using Meshuggah's formula, does make this generic in that right.

  • @Progmetalguy This comment made me happy.

Entirely agreed. I do not understand why it's seemingly impossible for people to both like individual artists more than others, but at the same time view artists objectively and analyze where they're coming from. It is absurdly irrational to listen to Progressive or Djent -styled bands that all borrow from similar styles, chord progressions, polyrhythms and ideas and then claim that there's absolutely no similarities between them.

  • @Progmetalguy and everyone else "Yeah, you point finger back far enough and some germ gets blamed for splitting in two." -Wise man

You point finger back far enough and you'll be able to say that today's music is using Cavemaanh's formula. I took this a bit around the corner but - you point my get.

Every single person who fight over genres, their namings and techniques, in a tomato tomahto way is a ___________ (pick a word).

    You say: Meshuggah!

I say: MUSIC! Oh and ... Tomahto!

  • @Progmetalguy You can choose to perceive it as generic and take away from your own enjoyment, but their formula doesn't matter, they play what they want to play regardless. This is good music.

  • the first 1:15 is the best shit i've ever heard, than it just turns to a fuckin mess

  • Get over yourselves, when you're touring with BTBAM maybe then

you'll have some room for comment.

  • these shud play with tool and messhugah best show ever \w/

  • I remember coming here when there was about 2000 views. I can't believe how far these guys have come.

  • Does anyone here know where i can find the picture that comes up at 5:52 in the video?

  • The views sure have spiked! Awesome

  • See beyond what your eyes view physically and travel along the astral plane to see what this world really is about...otherwise known as skrying, thinking pragmatically to make this world a better place. Music and a smile on my neighbors face is my motivation .PEACE and LOVE!

  • fuck, are their ANY bands like this without that stupid Soft Singing, pisses me off

  • @KreatorOfDeath1985 Check out the first track from Place of the Hidden God - Alien....

Type it into your youtube search bar motherfuckers and expect to induce a nose bleed ;)

  • @PlaceOfTheHiddenGod

THat Singer sounds like Metallica in its Awful days, like St. Anger. Not very good either Ugh

  • Saw these guys at St Andrews last night w AaL & BtTBaM. So dope. Grey matter ejecting opener to the show \,,/

  • @MrWallow7, I believe it is a rockfistasaurus. Very rare.

  • saw them last night

  • Holy fuck Tone.

  • whoao! what's the image at 1:35??

  • BTBAM, AAL AND THIS BAND TONIGHT!!! man im excited

  • This would be so better instrumental.

  • ill never respect a review who acknowledges "djent" as a genre.

  • BtBaM, AaL and TesseracT tonight!

  • generic djent.

  • @trogdortheenchidna oh please tell me how is this generic

  • @Daali94 they sound like every other djent band...and don't say "well they all play in the same tone so of course they sound the same" because you don't have to sound the same just because you're djent.

  • @trogdortheenchidna TesseracT... generic? I'm a little insulted. I don't think any band has been able to gain the ethereal edge that TesseracT has. I can't think of another djent band that sounds in any way like this one. Meshuggah? Hell no, Periphery? Hardly, Uneven Structure? Not at all, Vildhjarta? not by a long shot. I could list djent bands all day and none of them would sound a thing like this.

  • @Omeggia He's probably only listened to Meshuggah, then this.. and decided. A lot of people comment on these videos expecting to know everything about djent because they listen to Meshuggah

  • @Omeggia Can we please throwaway the stupid "djent" term and just call it what it is? Progressive rock/metal? Also, maybe no band in TesseracT's genre has matched the ethereal ambience, but there are plenty of artist that certainly have.

  • @NosferatuOfWorms Progressive Metal band who use low tuned guitars and razor tight palm muting, happy? (:

  • @Omeggia lol you honestly think adding some synths and faggy clean vocals makes them "ethereal" and lyke tots dif den meshuggah!? poor ignorant trend hopping fools.

  • @dfhellraiser4td they are ambient sounding and have much more melody then meshuggah lol but i am just an ignorant trend hopping fool.

  • @dfhellraiser4td Oh my I was so ignorant but now I bow down to you for you have shown me where I was wrong! This sounds sooooo much like meshuggah, I mean it's more melody than math based BUT IT SOUNDS EXACTLY THE SAME! I must have been trend hopping or high. Sorry for being an "ignorant trend hopping fool". Now seriously this comment made me laugh :L

  • @Omeggia dont worry little boy, youll get bored of this shitty trend and move on to the next one. its what all scensters do. first there was metalcore, then deathcore and now theres djent. all shitty, rehashed versions of what true metal artists accomplished decades ago.

  • @dfhellraiser4td Djent and scenesters in the same comment?? I am very much insulted sir. I'm following what I like, not what the latest trend dictates. I happen to like listening to this and not because it's the "latest thing to do" I dislike most metalcore and deathcore and have for a long time. I'm fine here thank you very much :)

  • @dfhellraiser4td I couldn't agree with you more.

  • @Omeggia These guys sound A LOT like Periphery. But that's not a bad thing. They are both amazing lol

  • @4WOF Really Periphery sounds absolutely nothing like TesseracT. Not at all. Such a different atmosphere.

  • @Omeggia

Textures and Tesseract have a lot of similarities. But both are badass as fuck

  • 2:47 has got to be the most metal picture I have ever seen. lmao

  • @TheKidGizmo painkiller - overdose story and monsters... (pc game)

  • @TheKidGizmo hahaha such a fucking epic picture I want my wall painted like that

  • Where can I get the photos at 1:40 and 3:52?

  • is it me or are the vocals way too soft? i can't make up what they're singing

  • @gangsterthomas1000 I am not sure we are supposed to

  • @LucienZakhaev ah that could be possible too

  • Gonna see these guys with BtBaM! Cant fucking wait!

  • FUCK DJEAH!

  • @AVH5000ultimate did you mean fuck 'yeah'

  • @TheStoogesOfficial Nvm.... I see you don't get it...

  • @AVH5000ultimate I get it lol :)

  • @klaww180 Nice. ^___^

  • Saw these guys with Protest the Hero and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster a while ago. Sound was messed up at the show so I thought I'd give them a shot, glad I did.

  • the saddest Djent song ever

  • wow

  • The tent was full at soinsphere so I could get in had to watch from outside and they overlapped with periphery... Sonisphere planing fail!!

  • Is this band any good live? I'm going to see them with BTBAM and AAL leaders but it's kind of a drive and I wondered if it's worth leaving earlier to catch their whole set
