yea gonna try the normal d activators in my esp then try the x2n/paf pro in my other guitar, the DAX's look shitty because they don't have a good high end + one of my favorite guitarists ever (chuck schuldiner) used the x2n and he had a a good tone on their last album and the dax neck model will be way to warm for my tastes + if i had from dimarzio i can just return and retry something else until i find the right one for both guitars.

@ViktorVR diezel vh4 is the shittiest amp iv'e ever used/heard listen to metallicas tone on their last like 5 albums, its fucking terrible, i could get a better tone out of my old roland cube 30 and lol my blackstar is so much better i thought i was dreaming, although these pickups look awesome i might try em =) bite,edge tightness sounds good too me.

@FirePower3006 mmmm yeah the blackstar line have many great tube amps , but I found a little dificult some one say : I can't get a good sound or tone out the VH4. It simply soud dificult to belive that amp make sound good even the horribe EMG pickups.

And as for the 5 last Metallica albums well I blame more Bob Rock for that and the fact they stop using ADA equipment in the studio records.

But it's nothing to do whit the amp I mean if the wizard has no magic don't blame the wand.

@FirePower3006 No I don't think they worth the money they are awful pickups if you want something good in active for metal use Blackouts from Seymour Duncan or Lace Sensor for jazz and blues.

I'm a passive pickup guy I always laike the organic sound from passive pickups and all that bull shit of the active pre amp to give you more otput is just that bullshit.

I have 2 guitars whit EMG regular and X series and they are no match for the X2N from Di Marzo or the Duncan Distortion or Invader.

But the custom sh-5 now thats a good pickup! invader muddy as fuck. x2n really good in alder. Larry D. said i should try the d activator in bridge for thrash/death metal of my guitar hmm.

@FirePower3006 Yes you right what I was try to say was not the Duncan Distortion I mean the Super Distortion from Di Marzio and the SUPER 3 It's an ass kicker too from SD I like the Full Shredd it's SH-10 I belive , I Have the X2N in several woods It's the pickup I use most I have that in Alder in which souns kick ass , Mahogany and basswood and it sound exelent too it's great pickup.

The D -activator i like the D-activator X kick ass too.

81 from EMG don't mach even the Evolution heheheheh.

As for the pick ups it's good choice but I recomend more D-activator X a set Bridge and neck soun more powerfull than the regular D-activators.

Live, James uses two Diezel VH4's, 2 Mesa Simul-Class 2:90 power amps, 4 Mesa Triaxis preamps (a preamp made to reproduce almost all the amps' tones I mentioned in my previous comment) a Roland JC-120 head. Tone is subjective, and just because an amp is more expensive, it doesn't mean it produces better tone. Mesa, Engl & Diezel all have their strongsuits.
