  • I would strangle a baby to be at this show

  • Your first reaction's gonna be one of fear, ya know

  • This can only mean:Amazing!!!!!

  • There's a very thin line between being crazy and being a genius.

  • this sounds alot like Can. so great!

  • actually, though it looks safe :P

  • haha that dancing girl, dont try this at home kids

  • he needed some reinforcement not to be knocked at the pegs he showed this by adding peg extensions on his table for tortured spirit beautiful man, he is

  • you cant compare the 'mellowed' out later floyd to the truly great early pink floyd they shouldn't even have the same fucking name. im glad i can come here and find great videos of their amazing early performanses with syd barrett, so what if he just liked to stare in to space on stage half the times? i think that craziness shit is just a rumour because he was a great spirit rock and roll and psychedelic at the same time i love listening to some old floyd laying in the sun rays on a chilly day

  • Sounds like a swam of bees! So sick and I LUV it.

  • I love the way youtube allows children with no idea to comment on things they have even less Idea about.

  • Masters of Psychedelic Music life proof

  • Syd Barrett was schizophrenic. His LSD use didn't cause a thing. It certainly didn't help, and neither did the death of his father. He was mentally ill, and I'm sure you've heard there's a very fine line between genius and insanity. Syd was an utter recluse, hardly leaving his home for years except to his own backyard. He even said so in an interview. I think he'd know better than anyone else here, don't you?

  • Syd's father died when he was 16 and this greatly affected him, or so I've read. Syd was relatively a "normal" guy but things started changing as the band got more well known, the drugs started coming in, and I've heard Roger say there were people hanging around who didn't have Syd's best interests at heart. Roger said after Syd went away for a weekend with some of these people that when he came back he wasn't the same person. Some kind of seriously bad trip happened. It's a damn shame.

  • So this is 1966. Cool.

BTW, Syd Barrett's sister was quoted as saying Syd had some mental issues before all the LSD; he was sort of unusual as a child too. He was slated to be one of those deeply affected by drugs. Makes sense. I wouldn't use the word "crazy" but maybe something along the lines of borderline personality disorder which quite a few talented & unusual people have whether diagnosed or not.

  • Ohhhh my God, Syd !!

  • R. i. sacred Peace Syd!

  • Pink Floyd wrote "Dogs."

  • Syd.

  • dance ? lool kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk epidemic

  • This song needs to be re-invented as a club/dance tune featuring a marginally-talented, scantily-clad girl singer with a super whiney voice. Or not.

  • Oh my God I would be coming OVER that fence and jumping on that sweet tall bass player.

  • @charadeyouareha hmmmm your name sounds familiar. and his name is ROGER WATERS.

  • punk

  • thanks for shring this precious jewel

  • Is there a classic rock station in this country that plays this far out song? I'd love to know.

  • Sounds like the jams I have

  • wow this videos is super cool whoever posted this thanks! i like seeing the way people danced back then so pyscdelic wish i was aroudn back then!

  • was this shot at a wedding

    awesome

  • Best version out there of this song. Syd's playing is beyond beyond.

  • Wow,one of the Marx brothers dancing in the crowd as well...........

  • mann do acid : ok, right

but NOT DANCE LIKE tHESE PEOPLE

just look how pink floyd did this psychedelic sound.

  • @beastrock666 dance how ever as long as its FREE.

  • Waters said that Syd had weird ideas and wanted to introduce two girl singers and a saxophone player into the floyd. Pink floyd did do this five or six years later , well after Syd had been fired.

Almost every aspect of Syds life had been used in some way to inform pink floyds work... lyrically at least.

    He must have new this.

  • @droogless im only liking this cuz of the way you spelt knew

  • sp what paul is saying is: Do Drugs People

  • this is quite magical I like a lot!! feel the music...

  • I love it - and the macca speech at the end

  • Beatle Paul pops up at 4:16

  • Syd Barrett è dio in terra.

  • amazing

  • Trying to find this outtasight song on (FM) radio is like trying to find a nun in a cathouse.

  • there's nothin like the 60's people! live n let love...

  • R.I.P. Richard Wright

  • haha people dancing to this tune looks so freaky! :D

    great song , great band!

  • Wow... all i have to say is Wow. I been a Floyd Fan since i was about 14 years old, by then The Wall was recently released.... i never really liked almost anything before Meddle... but this little party makes me wanna do some Acid and dance my butt off

  • 2:10-2:32 is the best part, i find...fun to play also.

  • eee...nic fajnego

  • If only Syd Barrett didn't use drugs.I think if he was with Pink Floyd all the way through the band's years, the band would have created music that would surpass even Dark Side of the Moon;but then again that's my personal opinion.

  • Totally agreed

  • He had schizophrenia, so (contrary to popular myth) regardless of drug use, he would have ended up the same way.

  • His schizophrenia which he APPARENTLY had was APPARENTLY caused by the LSD use. I don't really think he was crazy to be honest. He was a genius.

  • @ElliotSpencerBassett High talent is high levels of dopamiin in the brain. Even higher dopaminlevels borders to madness.

  • @ElliotSpencerBassett

Man listen to his various takes and recordings of his sessions with Gilmour and Wright after going solo. Sure he may have been high some days and so he was acting erratically but Syd was ANYTHING BUT INSANE.

  • @ElliotSpencerBassett whoa man, what if like, were all crazy and the crazy people are actually the sane ones o.0

  • @garrettlolwut You just blew my mind... WAIT... MY MIND WAS ALREADY BLOWN!

  • @ElliotSpencerBassett He could very well have been both. Genius and insanity have gone hand-in-hand more than once.

  • @ElliotSpencerBassett Shine On SYD

  • @ElliotSpencerBassett hmmm Perhaps there is another explanation abaut This SHizophrenia , you know that mental diseases often are transfered genetically , perhaps some of his family was having Shizophrenia maybe his grandparents who knows ? But yee He is a Genius !!

    SHine on !!

  • And contrary to that myth, it was never confirmed he had schizophrenia or any other mental illness. Roger Waters sure acts like it though.

  • well i don't think he had a healthy mind, for what i've heard he acted like if he had a mental illness when he appeared at the studios in 1975 with the rest members of pink floyd when they were recording shine on you crazy diamond and wish you were here. Look at the interviews, and the statements the members of pink floyd made

  • I know, they've made lots of statements. They aren't the most reliable bunch. It very well could have been his idea of a practical joke being the incredibly drugged, depressed eccentric that he was. You know "crazy diamond? I'll show you crazy, fuck you guys". Seems a bit too coincidental to me.

Or not, who knows, but that's not concrete proof in my eyes.

  • who said "i'll show you crazy, fuck you guys"?

  • I'm saying, that could have been his reasoning. He was an odd guy, always was, and the whole thing seems so absurd. Shaves his eyebrows, meticulously washes his hands, shows up the day they talk about his madness in song and says "I'm here to play the solo" with a stringless guitar? He seemed very self aware in his last interview, I don't think it's out of reason.

Also, it's what his sister says was the reason, but I do realize that could be her covering for him.

  • Crazy like a fox, he died a very rich man. Before he got the boot he wrote a song the guys couldn't get because he changed it everytime he played it to them. He called it "Have you got it yet". He was a smart ass joker that acted crazy and they just got pissed an didn't pick him up for the show one day.

  • Uh...no. There was a LOT more to it than that. He was mentally disturbed. Have you ever even heard the rest of the band talk about the day they didn't pick him up for the gig, and how guilty they felt about the entire ordeal? They wouldn't have fired him if there had been ANY possibility of him performing or writing. He was too far gone to participate anymore.

Syd was a genius, don't get me wrong, but the band did the right thing, honestly. Much more of that life might have killed him.

  • Behold, early Pink Floyd in all its psychadelicness! :D Awesome!

  • Syd Barret the head and the heart of the Pink Floyd

  • paul mcfuckingcartney

  • yep....

  • @nolanpotter1 The Beatles and their cheesy psychedelia and pussy songs!

  • I never pictured people dancing to interstellar overdrive

  • me neither, but when i listen to it, i feel like i want to dance. But for it's not actually dancing, it's like playing the song with your body. (Whel, ain't that the definition of dancing? lol)
