I've heard that they really don't make much more power, they just get a nice sound out of that tiny parallel twin. They run on Ebay brand new for about $360 for the earlier models(1988-2007).

I read somewhere (not sure if it's true) that 08's have better midrange while the previous model have better high-end power. Also the previous model is 20 pounds lighter (dry).

the new ones do make more midrange but make the same 32hp or the older ones also they now have 17inch wheels instead of 16's so you can get better tires and the ride is better

and if im not mistaking the new ones are a couple lbs heavier dry but they are lighter ready to ride

also the new ones are soo much better looking

not to mention they will have a higher reasale value than the older model

and they are not so small

if i had 4k a new ninja 250 would be my commuter getting 70+mpg

Most people that hate the 250 have never owned one. They can do all the stuff bigger bikes can, you just have to do it differently. They can burnout and wheelie just fine and they are built exceptionally well for the price.

At 17? Enjoy your insurance, haha. Expect to pay about 5k a year to insure that bad boy, not that it matters, you'll probably be dead in a month or two after you low side it off a cliff.

600cc SS bike? Good luck with that, your insurance should be between 5 and 6k a year :-). Not that it matters, you'll be dead after a month. 600cc bikes aren't toys, a Ninja 250r is faster than 80% of the cars on the road, a CBR600 is just silly fast (0-60 in under 4 seconds, top speed of 150+). You turn your wrist a quarter turn and you're doing 100.

lol, Ive got that story to tell. 4 days after I bought the thing I went off the road at 125.. but I got it down to about 55 before I went down. the bike came to a stop with everything behind the rear singarm hanging over a cliff. but I was 20 on a new bike. and yeah, it would have cost me what the bike is worth to insure it each year.
