  • You got guts and hearts and that will take you a long way.

  • i think you did well

  • I think you did Ok. Looked like your first time in a ring though.

  • And people should stop whining about how "It's not really Choy Lay Fut" or "It's the practitioner, not the style!". If the style loses repeatedly, with multiple practitioners, what then? Blame the rules? No, that is pathetic.

It IS the practiioner, but it is ALSO the style. And even if your style was made for the battlefield or street, never pressure testing your techniques makes you soft. This kid (CLFBSWestAus) chose to pressure test. Good on him.

  • Son, when people say "Ahh, but this is not Choy Lay Fut" or "Ahh, but this is not such and such style", what they mean to say is "We expected you to win the fight, just like how Chinese actors beat gweilo soundly in kung fu movies".

Some techniques are lost in the ring. There is pressure in the ring. Traditional wushu doesn't often prepare students properly for the ring.

You have balls for wanting to test your style. More people should follow your example kid!

  • @Clown7916

Hey there read your comment bought a smile to face thank you for your kind words and support plenty more to come :) and curious do you practice CLF yourself or another style just curious always good to hear people supporting the "pressure Test" as you called it. again thanks for your kind words and awesome support !

  • @CLFBSWestAus No, I don't practice CLF. But it's a very interesting style. The sheer number of forms, that colossal arsenal, the idea of it amazes me!

  • @Clown7916 the thing is with boxing gloves on a lot of techniques cannot be performed - no finger jabs or finger pokes, no ear slaps, no small joint manipulation techniques and no tiger claw or eagle claw techniques. when you disallow be it by rules or by ring equiptment 90% of a art's techniques its not a equal contest. that said, how many Thai boxers are victorious in bare knuckle fights in singapore and hong kong where kung fu can fully express itself...not many thai's win then.

  • @naumutroi I had forgotten to consider these points. Thank you for correcting me.

  • I don't think you lost this match. But that is just my opinion/impression. You controlled the fight nearly every step of the way.

I was sad to see your lack of CLF footwork though, that might have given you a decisive advantage.

  • Great job, Blake, especially for your first ring fight.

  • way to represent the gwoon blake!

  • The choy lay fut guy is a case of he did plenty of sparring and not enough drilling. He wasant a bad fighter but he seem to not have drilled set ups and counters enough

  • Amazing job. Takes guts to step in there, win or lose.

  • is that slightly altered? I think gloves change the style considerately.

    Good luck anyways!

  • I think personaly I'd prefer your forearm to the side of the head as opposed to your shin or knee. :o) But to us who were at the fight, we seen the damage done to the Muay Thai fighter and it was not pretty. Let's just say the deng gurk did what it was ment to do!!

  • @OkinawaT

I am sorry you are feeling that this is not choy li fut but it is maybe you should post your comments in english so everyone can read or post a video of yourself fighting agaisnt muay that with gloves using choy li fut better because until then i think everyone will agree choy li fut needs to be slightly altered to fight in the ring thank you for your comment though

  • @OkinawaT

It is still Choy li fut it has not change our momentum is different to the kickboxer and our technique is far different but yes i agree some techniques are lost in the ring but it still takes alot of courage and skill to fight under these rules full contact thank you for your comments

  • @CLFBSWestAus I'm sorry.

  • @CLFBSWestAus Why is Choy Li Fut so much more effective than other kung fu styles? I've seen boxers easily own kung fu guys, but here you're holding your own. I also found Bruce Lee's statements about it impressing. "Choy Lay Fut is the most effective system that I've seen for fighting more than one person and is one of the most difficult styles to attack and defend against." "It is the only style (kung fu) that went toThailand to fight the Thai boxers and hadn't lost"

  • @CLFBSWestAus You're quite right. Like many martial arts, CLF does need to be slightly altered for the ring. What many people forget is that Muay Thai itself is altered for the ring from the original Muay Boran style. If you look at Muay Boran and then look at Muay Thai you can see the difference.

  • Very close fight! Well done! Did you get a little tired towards the end? I think a little more fitness and agression and you surely would have won! Buk Sing Pride!!!

  • @HadesAngel999 Yes my stamina was lacking and it was my first time entering the ring but thank you for your comments

  • CLF should have had it. Second round the opponent won, but the other two you dominated, and that elbow complaint, like nosvaructu said is hilarious, I personally saw a forearm strike, but I use those as well. Mad respect man, and other your other fight CONGRATS!!!

    KUNG FU!!!

  • good fight

  • Damn, gave round one and three to choy li fut.... Hehe...did the muay thai guy complain that his spinning back fist was actually and elbow? Imagine that.. muay thai guy complaining about an elbow, weird.

  • Hey thanks for comments guys my sifu is sifu george michielson Perth australia :D

  • Good Job!

  • Who's your sifu btw?

  • oh man you got robbed! settle with we all know you won.
