    молодец регина

    nice one

  • Regina is just -- Great! Im now an addicted follower of her music! woo, this would have to be one of my faves. I could imagine a clip to this song, black and white film. Regina in a dimly lit room, with silk curtains flowing in to a light breeze and a story of an unhappy couple unfolds.

  • Regina is just -- Great! Im now an addicted follower of her music! woo, this would have to be one of my faves. I could imagine a clip to this song, black and white film. Regina in a fimly lit room, with silk curtains flowing in to a light breeze and a story of an unhappy couple unfolds.

  • well I'm not sure about you, but at least 600 of those thousands of views of this video were me..lol

SUCH a beautiful song, and ridiculously amazing singer! :)

  • february. get ink, shed tears.

write of it, sob your heart out, sing.

    while torrential slush that roars,

burns in the blackness of the spring

those words evoke so many emotions in me, beautiful isn't even the right word, its like they go past my ears and rest deep right in my soul.

  • @rising101 What you said was almost as beautiful as the poem itself.

  • @ekklesiast how is she copying bjork she wrote this song and she sounds nothing like bjork

  • @ekklesiast

    don't make me laugh...

  • Actually they cheered really loud you just cant hear it because the only way you can get sound from the web cast is what is being projected into the Mic.

  • This was on my birthday. So brilliant (:

  • beautiful! can't decide between this and the flowers as my fave songs

  • февраль...достать чернил и плакать...ахуенно...

  • @forestgreenov

    poslednim slovom vse perecherknuli (

  • goal: be regina by age 20.

  • lol,

  • @riiderxx dont be anybody but yourself... i m sure regina would appreciate that more. :)

  • her singing can be kind of weird, but the actual words and music is beautiful and the best!

  • @zLilypad234 I think the weird is what makes her the best.

  • I guess your right. I haven't thought of it that way. :)

  • Regina's just so beautifully unique. I love her. Unconditionally.

  • Well, everyone needs uniqueness in their lives, and Regina gives just the right dose. I love her to0 :D

  • I like her :)

  • This is the video that started my Regina obsession.

  • The russian part is poem by beloved poet Boris Pasternak. All russians cherish the poems of Pasternak

    Февраль. Достать чернил и плакать!

    Писать о феврале навзрыд,

    Пока грохочащая слякоть

    Весною черною горит

  • what does that mean?

  • за всех то не надо

  • и "грохочУщая"

  • Pasternak is awesome! I have to memorize his poems a lot in Russian School. I love Russians, maybe it's because I am one... lol, nevermind, but i still love pasternak!

  • The only reason the crowd doesn't hoot and cheer is that they are speechless. Regina is amazing in ways that cannot be described. it's not that she is not worthy of aplause, but our best aplause is not worthy of her

  • I just cant really put into words how amazing Reg is.....and I am not gonna try.

  • She deserves much more enthusiastic applause, if you ask me.

She's so fuckin creative and amazing

  • Yeah I agree she needs way more applause, I think that is a problem with playing (sometimes) in the us, especially in the south like this (tennessee, if you consider that the south). possibly they don't really appreciate this cross cultural music. maybe?

  • haha she has such a robust singing voice.. but love how her thank you was said so demurely. one of my favourites from regina.

  • mi viene da piangere

  • it looks like when she started singing in russian the wind started blowing

  • she was the first artist i seen at glastonbury this year, i had never heard of her before but what a joy to the musical pallet and a great start to the weekend

  • Февраль. Достать чернил и плакать! Писать о феврале навзрыд, Пока грохочущая слякоть Весною черною горит.

  • I absolutely love the end. The guitar and drums are very very filling, but im glad the whole song isnt like that.

  • I love this song!

  • she does the coolest things with her voice

  • I contracted reginitis from this song.

  • Well said! :)

  • Your comment is so full of win!!! :D

  • @thegreatpie Does it burn when you feel?

  • She's awesome. Simple as. :D

  • February. get ink, shed tears.

write of it, sob your heart out, sing.

    while torrential slush that roars,

burns in the blackness of the spring.

that was the lyrical russian part :)

  • Pretty good translation. I never thought it's possible to translate Pasternak's lyrycs

  • Спасибо!

Can you write out the original Russian lyrics (in Cyrillic)? Русский - Кириллица

  • Thankyou for translation

  • what is she saying in russian?

  • amen

  • maladez regina, o4en krasiwaja pesnja!

    very nice one :)

  • Wowza;)

  • Февраль. Достать чернил и плакать!

    Писать о феврале навзрыд,

    Пока грохочущая слякоть

    Весною черною горит.

Excellent how she adapts the poem by Pasternak, beautiful song!

  • Aww, the little"thank you" in the end just breaks my heart.

  • haha I love the Russian part.

    it's so pretty. :)

  • I love the russian part. The words are really pretty.

  • I want to cry cause i've been in Bonnarro 2007 but didn't know her back then so i've seen someone else at the same time, maybe Hot Tuna. Fuck!!!!!

  • this song is awesome!

    regina rocks!!

  • Me encanta lo caotico de esta canción

    Uff espeluznante Espectacular

    Regina rules

  • she made me want to learn russian too..

  • she makes me proud to be russian :)

  • She makes me proud to be human :)

  • ditto!

  • Really? Because she specifically moved away from there with her family to avoid how disciminatory they felt their country was of them. She calls herself a "Bronx Girl" and calls it her hometown.

  • They moved to the US just because the Soviet Union was crashin down and people had nothing to support themselves. Luckily, Regina's family could leave for America and make their lives better. Every emmigrant can understand what I mean. She's a Bronx girl for sure, but I hope there is something left russian in her =))

  • lol. Be afraid of the lame, they'll inherit your legs. Why does she keep going 'ugh', though.??

  • She's withstanding metaphorical blows:

I (whack) must go on standing....

  • Comment removed

  • its sexy as hell,

  • Amen! ! !@

  • Après moi ^^

    After Me

Mdr La fille Qui Galère Trop En Anglais :D

  • aw i love how fantastic this performance was and @ the end, she gives a coy "thank you"

  • Amen!

  • Holy Fucking Shit that is ill!!! I havn't heard this version before, at the end I was like whaaaaa?!?!

  • what a beautiful voice

  • ohh my goddd that was awesome! if she ever comes to Canada I'M SO THERE

  • She has! Many times! I've seen her live in Toronto.

  • shes the reason why i wanna learn russian

  • Febrero, toma tinta y llórala...

  • I think it's part of what makes her so unique.

  • Lmfao, lodeko, wtf?

  • Because, you know, it was in pretty deep. She just a human you know. Stop kissing ass :-)

  • as far as i know she doesn't say uh-merica but uh- must go on standing. and the uh is there as an aural reference to the jewish slavery in egypt. thats my interpretation anyway, could be wrong but im putting it out there. i think its a good device for getting her message across.

  • You're right that in this song she says 'I -uh- must go on standing' but Regina has another song called "Uh-merica" which is what that other person was referencing.

  • spot on

  • And nobody will break tears for you when I piss on you're dead disgusting fat body..

  • Well, aren't you nice.

  • Sorry but I hate antisemitism more than anything, that's why I overreact just a little bit..

  • This song is sooo f*****ng awesome! Regispek rulz!

  • I love when she goes into the Russian. She sounds very passionate at that point! 2:46, in particular, sticks out at me.

  • AMAZING.

I love the end part where the band joins in, it's so powerful :D

  • I'm in love. :)

  • She is sooooo amazing and inspiring :)

  • This is the best live version of this song I've seen yet. I'll repeat it; amazing.

  • her russian flows

  • holy*

  • holt shit shes absolutely amazing... i shit my pantz at 4:26!

  • i witnessed this

  • the melody is breathtaking

  • what a song.....

  • in awe yet again...

I have yet to be dissapointed by regina...

This song and this video is one of my upmost favourites. It has everything I'll ever need out of music.

  • I agree with you B- apres moi is so completely musical- it's poetry to music. I think she's evolved into a real musicians' muscian. She's uniquely brilliant.

  • How can anyone say her music has gone downhill when they hear this song? Apres Moi is the shit!

  • Agreed!

Her music has definitley not gone down hill. AT ALL.

  • I've been working on a couple pictures to illustrate Regina's Pieces and I can't bring myself to illustrate this song --

The more I listen to the song, they become so internalized that it nearly hurts and I have to stop listening.

I'd hate to have to stop listening to this song.

  • I know what you mean, sometimes Regina is so good (mostly if I'm up late youtubing live performances) I have to stop listening because it hurts. Her music is just so brilliant and genuine, listening to it gives me the same feeling as holding a newborn; it helps me believe that there is still something beautiful in this world.

  • russians are hot

  • russians are hot

  • russians are hot

  • this is such a pretty song

  • That's what she said. (Sorry, can't resist)

  • that wasn't even a good that's what she said... really

  • i loved this

  • I really love it when Regina sings Pasternaks poem! This song is one of my favorites. ^^

  • no, Thank you Regina

  • Russian is such an under rated language, it's so beautiful and Regina sings it wonderfully!

  • it's a poem by famous russian poet))

  • wow! 2:14-3:00

  • Well....i think i found my new wife...

  • Back off. She's mine!

    xD

  • you both have to go through me

  • and me...

  • i like monkey!!!

  • ı love this song and it's composer :):)

  • omgshesawesome.

  • This is better than the recorded version I've got on my i-pod from her CD... gosh she's amazing, I mean how often does an artist sound BETTER live than recorded... not very... It's performances like these by her that make me want to say something grand and ludicrous like 'Regina is god.' But I'll hold back and just say she's my favorite human who I've never met... though I hope to... someday...

  • It's as if you stripped this right from my mind.

In other words, I totally agree with every word.

  • Its the same thing with Fiona Apple.

I like the liveversion of her songs more than the recorded ones.

  • omg, i know! apres moi and field below are SO MUCH better live

  • this is the most incredible song ever!

  • I've seen in many sources that no one knows who said it first. And at any rate, it doesn't really matter.

  • me too, I'm the dot all the way in the back

  • I'm totally in that video

  • The mechanics of this piano is clearly not up to the task, or it is an artifact of the compression but there seems to be a lack of expression one can hear in the normal variations that the analog version of a piano can add. I can't help but love this particular recording of this song though as it has an emotionality that blasts through all the problems. Wow, when Regina sings in Russian I just get chills. Amazing each and every time I listen to it.

  • It is because she is on a keyboard and not a piano. I always hear the difference.

  • aprés moi le deluge - after me come the flood. used during world war two but has a meaning from centuries ago to do with some french aristocracy in war or soemthing. also has something to do with a painting.

  • "Apres Moi le deluge" was a famous phrase used by Louis XV to describe his fall and the coming French Revolution.

  • It was actually said by Madam de Pompadour...

    FYI the Russian means

    February. get ink, shed tears.

write of it, sob your heart out, sing.

    while torrential slush that roars,

burns in the blackness of the spring.

Its from Boris Pasternak's poem entitled 'February'

If you don't know what your talking about don't say misleading things...

  • Not to be a stickler, but it's not even certain that Madame de Pompadour herself said "après moi, le déluge". It is attributed to both Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour, but that doesn't mean she or he actually said it.

That being said, the person who attributed it to Louis XV wasn't being misleading.

Also, it's Madame, not Madam. And "you're", not "your".

So, if you don't know what you're talking about, please don't say misleading (or grammatically incorrect) things.

  • well, aprés moi le deluge, its all greek to me!

  • means: after me (comes) the flood, just like she sings :)

  • yes i know lol i was just commenting because of all the comments people had left over it hehe

  • the apres moi part is french

  • I just saw her at Lollapalooza in Chicago. I had never seen her before, she was stunning.

  • Fevral, dostat chernil i plakat

    Pisat o fevrale navzryd

    Poka grohochuschaya slyakot

    Vesnoyu chernoyu gorit

  • Where rooks, like charred pears, from the branches

In thousands break away, and sweep

    Into the melting snow, instilling

Dry sadness into eyes that weep.

Beneath - the earth is black in puddles,

The wind with croaking screeches throbs,

    And-the more randomly, the surer

Poems are forming out of sobs.

    1912

    Translated by Lydia Pasternak Slater

  • absolutely amazing and inspiring!

    the whole poem is:

Black spring! Pick up your pen, and weeping,

Of February, in sobs and ink,

Write poems, while the slush in thunder

Is burning in the black of spring.

Through clanking wheels, through church bells ringing

A hired cab will take you where

The town has ended, where the showers

Are louder still than ink and tears.

  • i love this song. even borrowed a line for my yearbook :) haha. i love regina!!!!!

  • Breathtaking!!!!!!!!!! What language is she singin in? Russian?? French??

  • It's Russian. I think it's from a poem.

  • Thanks!

  • It's verse "February.Get ink, shed tears" of poet Boris Pasternak.

  • O thanks!

  • simply amazing.

    jaw dropping.

  • i, oh, love her! haha.

  • I love Regina! I have yet to see her perform live, but I hopefully will soon. I love how she changed the song up a bit here. The first time I heard it on Begin to Hope I fell in love.

    :]

  • I love these videos of the Festivals that she plays, she's so good live!!!

  • I happen to check the AT&T blueroom a few songs into her set. @ first i wasnt really into it. But i couldnt turn it off. Ended up watching her whole set. this is by far my favorite song. Thank god for that dam at&t thing.

  • I'm a little biased of course, but by far on the of the best performance I witnessed while I was at Bonnaroo. She was stage left during the Franz show, she was diggin' it! Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips asked her before thier set to dance on stage, too bad she didn't, I'd have loved that for sure!

  • I was front left of stage.. incredible performance! Thanks for taping!

  • She was the best performance at Bonnarooo!

  • lol...
