  • RIP Showbiz-OoS. I have all the live versions on my ipod but I guess I will never get to hear you live :(

  • Thanks for posting this. This version is just as good as the newer one live! They're still perfect + Chris looks very handsome here :) haha!

  • the early version doesnt have a "born" in it. rofl. wth tv station.

  • @killerkite333 The song didn't have a title at the time it didn't get released for another year, so the TV station just put "New" as in "New song" it wasn't a mistake.

  • RE: crowd. Any other year, I'd agree. But this is what living through a horrific and tragic weekend where 9 people were killed tends to do to people.

To me, Muse was kind of therapy after walking numb around on the festival site for two days. Sunburn, Feeling Good and particularly this made me cry my guts out.

This could never have been a party, and Muse knew it. But it's still the concert - of around 10 - that I remember with the greatest affection - and gratitude to Matt, Dom and Chris.

  • He drags his pick up the neck of the guitar while using his whammy peddle at the same time. just watch closely.

  • muse 2010 roskilde!

  • BY THE WAY - if this had been played at this years Roskilde (2009) you would see a floating mass of people going crazy. '09 was fantastic!

  • That will happen next year!!! :D

  • LOL I found out yesterday! MUSE at Roskilde '10!! I'll be there, be on the lookout for a drunk guy in yellow surf T jumping and singing! CAMP BRESK

  • Haha, nordmann?

  • Oh sorry. Absolution came in 2003

  • Wtf is wrong with the crowd? I saw Plug in Baby in 2000 and instantly became fan, I'd been in front goin crazy!

  • what's wrong with the crowd? search in google 'pearl jam roskilde 2000' and u'll know.

  • argh... plug in baby in 2000. You're wrong. Plug in baby was on Origin of Symmetry in 2003

  • they played it since 2000, didn't release to a album untill Origin of Symmetry in 2001 ;)

  • I think my point was made.. :)

(BUT - actually Time is Running Out was the first VIDEO I saw by Muse, but then I wasn't so much into music)

  • absoloution was in 2003 :P

  • and the bass is too low though...

  • At the beginning, the title is 'New' ???

  • Haha xD

  • Yeh 1:42 was pretty cheesy but I think it can be forgiven and WTF where the crowd dead or zombies or something

  • 1:42 really made my day!

  • what effect is used at 3.30?

  • digi tech whammy

  • I wish I'd been with them from the beginning. Sadly only learned about muse four years ago or so. My head would have been seen jumping above the rest of the crowd!

  • what a crappy crowd!

  • Well this was from when muse first started, so people just had to get used to the music :P

  • And thanks for posting this, DeadStar2ooo. Never even realized video footage of it existed.

  • I love when he sings without any emotion on his face. Statue Matt.

  • how would you know

  • he looks soo just like my friend!! Matthew! what a coincidence! lol muse rock!

  • yer he looks like mine too he is called matthew aswell:O

matthew bellamy and he plays guitar like a demon too:O

  • Ugh! am being serious though hes full name is Matthew Konrad Gothard!!!

  • Oooh, I want to see a picture of this Matthew Bellamy look alike friend!

  • Jesus this is surreal to watch, seeing them on like one of the tiniest stages on Roskilde when I saw them headline last year. Really interesting to hear how New Born developed though. They were so young back then :D

Damn I wish I was old enough to have been a fan from the beginning.

  • What exactly happens at 3:40? I'm thinking either

    a) He has a theramin in the guitar's neck or

    b) The arm movements are just theatrics and he is really using his whammy pedal.

  • It's not a) but I'm sure if you forward him that idea he may use it :D

  • b)with a little plec scrathing with the second movement of the right hand, maybe?

  • B), i liked his arm movements and the sound he made

  • yeah man he just pushed the whammy pedal =)

  • if its just me then ill shut up but does that bass player look crazy high?

  • hes called chris..

  • Haha, this is awesome! Compare this to clips from them playing at Roskilde 2007. It's really interesting to see how far they've come!

  • wasn't OoS released only in 2001?

  • yes if u cant tell this is the early version pre recording. theres less distortion, no fuzz factory and other things

  • you can also hear on the piano intro, it's different from the recording, some words are missing or changed, and the pause between the first verse aand riff is without controlled noise

  • yea thats what i meant by no fuzz factory.

  • Good old times - I can still vaguely remember this gig! Interesting thing to note, that this was the smallest stage on the festival at the time. When they played at Roskilde again in 2004, they were on the second largest stage & then they finished off by headlining the biggest stage this year.

  • God, Dom looks so young there!

    Chris almost has an afro.

Matt was a rock god even back then.

  • Thanks for this. Can't believe I hadn't come across this before. Bellamy in usual form - random leg cocking and all, god love 'im. Fantastic!

  • 3 : 40 !!!!!!!!!

  • lol.. nice
