this is dumb the main reason its considered a gateway drug is because people who sell marijuana usually sell other drugs as well so if it was legalized people wouldn't have to worry about dealer pressure to go to the next level or the risk of weed being laced with cocaine or PCP.. if you saying it is always a gateway drug you could also say tobacco is also a gateway because all of the people i know started smoking tobacco before weed
"yes marijuana is a gateway drug" - No its not. Its proven theres nothing it to give this effect. The user is just as likely to do harder drugs with the use of weed or not. Blame it on weed if they want, doesnt make it true.
@dapperckone I see what you mean, but im still against the phrase "gateway drug". Because the "drug" part, is kinda pointing out the marijuana, and targetting it, kinda saying its thats fault, but clearly it isnt, its her fault, she creates the so caled "gateway" out of nothing, the weed doesnt do anything, its innocent :P
@dapperckone Ofc I KNOW people can become a addicted. But its not the drugs faults, its a mental addiction, the same kind of addiction you'l get for porn, or burgers or something, because like I said already - Theres NO addictive substence in it. at all.
@dapperckone There is no physiological addiction to cannabis, that's a scientific fact. You get "addicted" to cannabis in the same way people get "addicted" to video gaming (i.e. the feeling becomes desirable but no withdrawal symptoms occur).
And the research done into this "gateway drug" theory has found more of a link between alcohol and hard drugs than cannabis. This supports the current belief that some people are predisposed to try "cool" or "illicit" drugs, not climb the drug ladder.
@ihaterobbie123 : I agree, scientifically there is no documented studies; however, I know that I see and treat clients that have a profound addiction to this drug! You can call it a habit or social fun but, it can develop into something worst if its not treated.
@dapperckone Exactly, we need to treat it like a health issue and legalise it. Once it's in the open kids won't be able to buy it off shop shelves and the illegal trade of cannabis will stop.
With regulation we could eliminate the addition of glass, faeces and other substances used to make the product heavier. This would reduce the health risks significantly.
Not only that but we could stop spending money keeping victimless criminals behind bars and branding students with a conviction.
