  • @blackopshelp911 uggg me to!!all the time!

  • your friend has nice hair.

  • Just a tip don't breath at the same time or on bar lines :) you sound nice though :)

  • OKay your all Bass experts right? i'll try and post aa video on friday but, i believe my bass is broken. i can't play anything over High C my Jr. friend (im a freshie) looked for a leak in the second half of the body and he didnt see anything, what do i look for? PLEASE H E L P. thank you <3

    a bass clarinet

  • The Bflat Bass Clarinet is one of the best members of the clarinet family. I played one through high school and college. The only thing better was playing a BBflat Contrabass Clarinet, the "paperclip" model that went down to 32 hz.. Still, if i could afford one I'd get a Leblanc model bass clarinet and play in a local band.

  • @CatFlashBlue oh yeah I made that comment so long ago that I've changed usernames since. I'm andyb1314

  • @theTXFrog6 Also, you should play Bayou Breakdown. That song is 'fun' on any instrument.

  • @CatFlashBlue I'm a high school bass clarinet player. Not trying to reach any "depth" of my instrument at the moment. And yes in my opinion playing clarinet is more fun due to the more difficult parts in most compositions. 99.9% of the time the clarinets have a more challenging part than the bass clarinets. A music connoisseur such as yourself should know that. I love bass clarinet but at the same time I don't see what's so wrong about wanting to play a harder part.

  • @theTXFrog6 Well it depends on how you define difficulty. I'm not trying to sound like a snob. I'm just a person who loves music a lot and would want you to find that depth like I'm seeking out. I have realized that something that is difficult technique-wise (as in fingerings etc.) is actually easier than something difficult it terms of musicality. How do you make that simple whole note on the page speak so much better? You see?

  • @theTXFrog6 I dunno. In my head "more difficult" doesn't mean "more fun". I find that as the bass clarinet, you often play with the tuba and lower instruments, and often, the band is listening to them for cues. I think it's fun carrying the band instead of worrying about if you're gonna play the high Eb correctly.

  • @Okerokeka There are beautiful slow songs on clarinet as well as faster pieces for bass clarinet, let's keep in mind. I'm talking about the type of difficulty. Difficulty as in fast notes isn't as fun as a slower piece that challenges you and allows you to be musical about it. I'm also not trying to put you down for your opinion. Perhaps I should have reworded my first statement. And, fast-note songs have their place as well.

  • @Okerokeka I have 12 tubas in my marching band. So do you think anyone hears the bass clarinet? No. I don't feel like I'm doing much to carry the band. I'd rather be in the spotlight, worrying about high Eb . But the bass clarinet doesnt really lend itself to the spotlight in most ensembles. Im no professional nor do I ever intend to be one, and the experience of playing bass clarinet (or any instrument for that matter) has given me enough fun and memories to compensate for tedious parts.

  • everyone in who sees me in parades playing bass clarinet says "cool a black saxophone!" i just hate that. bass clarinet is just so much more bad ass .

  • What song is this? Beautiful work ladies :)

  • @Koriiame isn't the one to the right a boy o.o

  • woww excelente...!!! donde puedo conseguir las partituras?? como se llama esta pieza??

  • i play the clarinet and i wonder if my school offers the bass clarinet. it looks really fun to play one! ;D BTW great playing and vid!

  • @ch33zy03 me too:):)!!

  • It's beautiful !!

I play bass clarinet in japan's school.

I want to brass this song.

Can you tell me name of this song?

  • I love the bass clarinet. :) I'm playing it in band, due to a surgery it sets me back on my bassoon playing so I have to work my way up. Haha. Theres only 2 of us at my school. :)

  • @lulu10319

Ohh, I see what your sayin (:

  • @lulu10319

    soprano* clarinet.

  • @RebirthROsBaDKiD The Boy calls it normal clarinet

  • This kid in my band says I'm a loser cuz i play bass clarinet!!!

I was like WTF?!?! F*ck you!!! and he plays "normal clarinet"

  • I am one of 3 Bass Clarinets at my school and people are always telling me its just a big saxophone!! Even my boyfriend who is also in band says it's a sax!! It annoys the hell out of me.

  • My bro is 10 and he plays bass clarinet. (He is so awesome

  • nice

  • what song is this?

oh and i play the bass clarinet too :D

  • Someone sounds kinda sharp...but that's okay !!!

  • im the only one to

  • Clarinets for life, I play "regular" and Bass,

  • I Play bass clarinet and im in 5th grade and im the only one adn at skyway my band teachre told me that theres not a bass clarinet there and the kids asked " is it cool?"

    Heck ya!

  • this soundz pretti qood ! we shud do a bass clarinet trio xD

  • A grand performance! With time will come a more natural feel for phrasing, tone, and treatment of dissonances.

  • sax.....

  • bass clarinets ftw.

  • I march with bass and to me its alot funner than clarinet and to push myslelf i dont play just one part. in the song i play all the intraments parts (with my bass). but i usually stick to clarinet part.

  • i play bass clarinet...U STINK...jkjk but need to work on. im a pro and im only 11

  • @SilverStream106 yeah sure kid

  • @SilverStream106

hate to break it to you but you can't be a pro at anything if you are only 11

  • GO BASE CLARINETTT. HAHA Its the best there is and its very diffucult to march with. Just remember STAY IN TIME DONT SLOW DOWN

  • @nicerangelevel when i march i swich to clarinet

  • @nicerangelevel its not that difficult to march with

  • I play just the plain old clarinet, but this sound soooo much better! I think I might switch!

  • I play the bass clarinet. But im playing clarinet now for Marching season! I kinda like the bass clarinet better though!

  • I played the clarinet in beginning band, and varsity, then I switched to bass clarinet! I love it , it's so much, but this year I might switch to the contabass!

  • @RyanWalterTV wow today my band teacher said we can try out 2day for bass and i play clarinet:)

  • no offence but my class can play better than that

  • you guys realy good. Since I play clarinet, I was wondering if bass clarinet is any thing like it. like the fingerings and stuff.

  • @omardog123 it is the same fingerings except with a bass clarinet, u play more low parts!

  • @BtlesFan thanks I was just wondering. Mabye I can ask my teacher if i can play bass clarinet in symphonic band next year. If Your Wondering why this is from woodwind581 instead of omardog123, its because I made another channel.

  • @woodwind581 your welcome

  • good work thats talent

  • Bass clarinet is very hard to play. It squeeks alot more than the clarinet dose. I play bass btw..

  • @nowaymandud hey I'm andyb1314. I changed my username since that last comment. And no, the bass clarinet does not require you to change your mouth to change pitch at all. The only thing that makes it harder is that the fingers are more spread out. The music is a lot easier though- I can guarantee that.

  • Yikes!

  • Bass Clarinets RULE

  • saxophone is still the best

  • @lowryh1 no doubt the sax is best! i play alto

  • @MrLexington45 sweet! ya I play tenor alto and im now playing the bari in the school band

  • @alonnie16 not if you play loud enough....... im in 8th grade, and my director keeps telling me to play louder.....depends on your lung capacity, ive been playing bass clarinet for two years, after playing normal clarinet for two more years..........sooooooo

  • @alexpinabass, MY director always says get louder, too! Something about the bass clarinet, usually, is NEVER loud enough....

    *sigh*

  • @MsContrabassClarinet I know right!? Gahh!!

  • @MsContrabassClarinet God, for some reason I get can't SOFTER without the tone quality going down the drain...

  • @XamiNaxamis I know right?!? I have two dynamics. Blastissimo and bad sound. But the directors never understand

  • @zomgrandomtext I don't have the problem that bad, but yeah. Band teachers aren't the most sympathetic people in the world if you don't have the same instrument that they do...

  • i'm one of two......i'm kinda better! JK....

  • my 'friend' Terren is the only bass clarinet and she really isnt any good she is full of herself

  • There are Four in my school. Me and my friend in Advance and 2 in Intermediate. We are the best in our parish. Louisiana isnt very big so there cant be that many Bass Clarinets that we can beat but im pretty sure we are the best. When i get to highschool, i will play the Contra-Bass Clarinet. :)) SOOO EXCITED!!!!

  • i am going to play the bass clarinet in 8th grade but for now it's just the clarinet. =(

  • @jojo1316 I play bass clarinet now, and trust me, clarinet is more fun. The parts in songs are just better. But bass clarinet is still very fun! I hope you enjoy playing it!

  • @andyb1314 Sorry, but is the bass harder to play then the clarinet? like controlling the pitch with your mouth? ive been playing the clarinet for about 2 years and im just about to switch to bass, and im just scared its going to be difficult to control the pitch... D:

  • @nowaymandud its not hard u just play on bass line and its simular to clarinet but deeper and lower trust me i play bass clarinet

  • @andyb1314

Soprano Clarinet is for losers. Bass is where it's at.

  • we are not losers but i must say i do like bass and contrabass and they are a lot more fun.

  • @Zachusto Oh how I would love to get my hands on a contrabass clarinet.

  • @nyrfan9495 oh yeah? then prove it XD

I love the bass clarinet but the lower register sounds undesirable...that's why I can't really play it. Also I dont have that much money.

  • @nyrfan9495 Bass Clarinet is for losers. Contrabass is where it's at :P

  • @michael99o Contrabass Clarinet is for losers. Octocontrabass is where its at!

  • @michael99o Octocontrabass clarinet is for losers. Eb Sopranino clarinet is where it's at!

  • @andyb1314 Yeah no. The bass clarinet is ten times more fun. What I hate is when people ask me what type of saxophone I play.

  • @Okerokeka oh ikr!!! everyones like "its just like a big sax" and im all like oh HELL NAWW!! dont make me go all whoop ass on you!! lol

  • @Okerokeka That's a sign you need to practice more if you sound like a saxophone.

  • @CatFlashBlue I don't 'sound' like a saxophone. People look at it and think it looks like a saxophone. So they want to know what type of saxophone it is. It isn't. I'm not even sure how you can get it to sound like one. But thanks for insulting my playing ability.

  • @Okerokeka Oh, my apologies then. Hey I sounded like a tenor saxophone when I first started bassoon. So it wasn't meant as an insult. Maybe just honesty but I misunderstood. I'm very honest with myself and my playing, if that makes you feel better.

  • @CatFlashBlue Oh, sorry for jumping down your throat ^-^;; My band director put me on the bassoon this year (my last year at the school). He's lucky I played the bass clarinet before, because those fingerings would have been really tough otherwise -_-. Not to mention the embouchure.

  • @Okerokeka No problem. If there's ever an angry moment I make the assumption that it's a bad impression and miscommunication. Yeah I played flute first, and that helped with the fingerings a LOT. The biggest difference for me was all the keys for the left thumb D= 9 keys just for a thumb! Yes I'd say 75% of bassoon is the "reedmanship" as I call it hehe, as well as tone quality.

  • @Okerokeka Omg so im not the only one that gets people that ask that!!

  • @andyb1314 I played both clarinet, bass and contra alto... along with sax but Bass clarinet was by far my fav! once you get into the advanced pieces of music the bass clarinet parts really do tend to shine above the rest plus not only that you are not playing with a whole group of people it is just a few playing along

  • @andyb1314 if you say clarinet is only more "fun" because of the faster notes or more melodies, then you haven't reached the depth of bass clarinet or regular clarinet.

  • i play the bass Clarinet the only in my school and i play the Clarinet

  • Im the the only bass clarinet in my class but there is two other in diffrent class :P

  • Theres like 7 Bass clarinets at my school but in Band 1 im the best.....kinda....welll yea the other ones in band 1 are good 2

  • i am the only bass clarinet that plays in my school its soo fun i love it!!!!

  • today was my audition for bass clarinet for school band and the whole 7th grade band will know who plays bass clarinet at the end of the week. wish me luck people!

  • Be nice to the bassoonists because they're better than you!

  • @TheJmacaroni LMAO your right XD

  • Idk, I'm the principle bass clarinet at my high school (Houston County High) but, I play with my buddy, and I prefer 2 of us :o. Nothing cooler then two bass clarinets growling at the oboes and bassoon player ;D

  • Yes, I love being the only Bass Clarinet at my school too.. lol

  • Well done!!! I like your tone in the higher register. I know how hard that can be.

  • I am the first ever Bass Clarinetist at my school

  • I used to be the only bass clarinet player :I I miss being the only one :P

  • I'm the only bass clarinet at my school! :D

  • @ch33zy03 SAME HERE!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ch33zy03 i am to and i like being the only one

  • @ch33zy03 me 2 and i love it i feel special by being the only bass clarinetist in my whole school

  • @ch33zy03 I was too!!!..for 3 years!!! I had a senior when I was a Freshman and he was GREAT! I graduated now so I'm trying to find a cheap bass clarinet..(under 2000) Any suggestions?

  • @BulldozerNDF I've heard that the Yamaha 221 II is a great student model (only about $1700)....never played it though....It's only a student model, so there is only range to low Eb and a single register-vent

  • @ch33zy03 me two

  • @ch33zy03 ME TO!!! haha ^_^

  • @ch33zy03 same

  • @ch33zy03 ME TOO!

  • @ch33zy03 Me too!!! Haha!

  • @ch33zy03 haha my best friend is too. bass clarinet is the best sounding instrument ever, i think...

  • me tooo

  • @ch33zy03 me too!!

  • @ch33zy03 So am i the other person quit because she thought it was to hard so im the only one too, go us

  • @i38warhawk1 Lol, Well, What sucks is I changed schools and I had to switch back to the regular clarinet. I miss my Bass Clarinet. :/

  • @ch33zy03 me too

  • @ch33zy03 Same ! :D

  • @OffTopikk IKR! We need more bass clarinet players in the world. Bass Clarinet FTW

  • @ch33zy03 me too :D

  • @ch33zy03 Omg, same here! XD

  • @ch33zy03 MEE TOO!!!!

  • @ch33zy03 Me too! :D

  • im a bass clarinet player and im first chair. I used to be the only one but 2 other people came but htey hardly to anything! it drives me mad. :(

  • It's so hard to play high.

    But I'll keep tryin' :]

  • bass clarinets are way harder than regular clarinets

  • not the music

  • there's no regular clarinet. there are more than 2 dozen clarinets. there for any of them could be a regular clarinet for anyone. also making the clarinet the largest family of instruments. from soprano to contrabass. there's b-flat, e-flat, and A clarinets. and i believe there are A-flat but i can't remember. no clarinet is harder than the other because each clarinet is different.

  • Even more than two dozen - hehe :)

There's the little forgotton ones like the G clarinet, the very very rare piccolo clarinet, the Eb alto

but yeah :) Just thought i'd share the list :D :)

  • lol i love how right after i posted that i commented after that saying piccolo clarinet x3 i know. i play Bb clarinet. soprano. it's not as easy it looks xD

  • I play just your normal Bb clarinet :)

  • yeppers so do i! :D

  • Awesome :D

  • oh yeah and i forgot piccolo clarinets as well. which are higher than soprano.

  • go bass clarinets!!!!

  • the girl is playing high

  • is it the girl or the guy playing high reg

  • breath support, and stagger breath.

  • man only if there were another bass clarinet to play with me

  • ya i play bass clarinet and i made the best band in my school and i'm first chair. Slightly out of tune, but otherwise great!

I can play high E, the 1 with register key, F key, and the middle key on the rite hand :P

  • its the note 3 ledger lines above the staff

  • dude breathe with your stomach or u'll like die. oh and the person playing the low part is waaaaaay out of tune.

  • actually, beeboper13 is rite. SORRY!

  • ah! i play the bass clarinet for marching band! it's almost as tall as me!! i'm 5'0

  • good job, I liked it....I play bass clarinet and I love it!

  • WHAT IS THIS SONG?

  • u r not breathing with ur stomach. try 2 breathe with ur stomach a bit more. but anyways, great job on the high notes.

  • what is this song called?

  • Wow I can like go on 1 reed for like 3 weeks solid... I am also really good at the Bass Clarinet and whoever is playing this is also very good. May I ask... what piece of music are you playing??

  • i go though reeds fast but thats only because they keep giting to soft

  • coralcow i know!its really funny and cool!i think if u play like u know if ur bass goes down to c play the little right above it i think that D the screen shakes!

  • i make My own reads and they work great just get bambo that's the best way

  • i use tenor sax reeds...idk y but i always seem to sound and play better w/ sax rees.

  • There is no difference between a tenor and bass reed except Tenor reed is slightly longer.

  • You mean i can use a tenor sax reed on my bass clarinet?

  • a tenor sax reed can be used as there is only a slight size difference, but the tone isnt as good as a regular bc reed imo. It's a smart idea to keep a box of them on you in case of emergencies =)

  • yeh XD , i play tenor sax .. i wanna be a sax/clarinet teacher so i gotta learn clarinet + bass ... r they the same fingering ?

  • clarinet and the bass clarinet has the same fingering, just different sizes, also the bass clarinet has a few extra notes.

  • bad idea! tenor sax reeds are meant for tenor sax only!! o_O

  • not really.. i played with number 4 tenor for a year now

  • Comment removed

  • Was this Solo and Ensamble??? Did you guys get 1's???

  • OMG! 1ce i was ion music lesson durrin skool and we were waiting 4 the teacher 2 come bck from lunch. and when you play the lowest note, a d sharp, perhaps an E, look at a computer and if the screen saver has a windows thing, watch it as u play!!! LMFAO!

  • At the end the girl on the left looked like she was going to throw up!

  • it would have been hilarious if she did

  • Umm... NO, that would be gross.

  • my insturment!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im a bass clarinet purest i started on it and not the somprano i have quite amazing tone in my opinion :D

  • I play Bb clarinet but I've tried the bass clarinet before and it's quite funny :P

  • haha, me too.

my friend plays base clarinet and i tried to play it...

    wow. lol.

  • hehehe. . .I could barely get the low notes out. . .lolz

  • the low notes are the best part!

  • lol. . .I can't play them cuz I'm not used to bass clarinet.

  • The best part of playing bass clarinet is the easy parts in bands and orchestras!

Bass Clarinet is my majoring instrument, but I went to AMC (Advanced Music Camp) last week and had low E's like the whole song for one of them, and they vibrate the whole instrument, and therefore your head too. So massive headaches all camp!

And I'll bet none of you have ever gone through 5 reeds in 4 days! =]

  • easy things like that are boring =P and no, it takes me like a week and a half to wear out one reed.
