In my opinion the arcade games were always better. TMNT2 turtles in time' for the NES (8-bit)version was one of the best at that time to hit the market. That was just the beginning of an era that now is long gone. And for some like myself it's still very much alive.

There is no Snes version of the Arcade game. Do you mean the Nes? Cause the Nes TMNT Arcade game has more levels and increased replay value. The actual arcade game is very short. Both are fun, but Ive always liked TMNT 2 on the Nes better then the original.

The TMNT merchandise i had when i was a Kid is a Leonardo Action figure, and it also had a Glow in the dark Mini turtle inside a goo like substance. I remember spinning leonardo when i'm playing, knocking off the foot clan hehehe! Ah Memories!

Here in the uk, the turtles were finally called Ninja turtles, when censcorship was relaxed, in either the late 90,s or early this decade, it took that long.

Its funny how last gen, developers would sometimes give away the original game(s) as a bonus to be nice (Sonic Adventure DX had many games you got for free just from playing the game, I don't even think it was shown on the cover that you got them), but now with DLC they know they can make money off of the nostalgia and charge money for them. A (ROM of a) single 20 year old game should not go for more than $1. Look at 5 year old games: they go for $4-6. It is a fair price.

Actually it was never illegal but Great Britain thought that the word ninja was based on blood and violence and hero was more nice and kidfriendly. So it wasn't "illegal" in a way that you can't say it or write it anywhere without a fine.

This review so far is a great nostalgia trip. I remember Turtle Mania back in the 80's and 90's. I remember the arcade game for the arcade and NES. Good times.

I'm was born in the early nineteens so I didn't get to play so many turtles games and other stuff, but I played the nes version of the arcade game. So many good memories.

This game in the arcade made so much money for such a long period of time that the resale of the original stayed high up until the late 90's when E Bay started to get real popular for buying original arcade cabinets. This game payed a lot of bills.

i grew up with the 2000s turtles. And i thought that theme was awesome, until i heard the 80s one. that's just so catchy, you could sing it all day and never get bored. In fact i remember at school my friend said "Teenage mutant ninja tacos, teenage mutant ninja tacos, tacos in a hard shell, beaner power"

Very nice review Sir, but you did get two things wrong about the UK.

It was called Hero Turtles because the BBC thought Ninjas were too violent and wanted the name changed. The illegal part was that Nunchuks were illegal in the UK at the time. Which went as far as to edit out scenes of Michelangelo using them. Though bizarrely they never did that with Panthro in Thundercats.

and the ZX Spectrum is pronounced Zed Ecks Spectrum.

I don't think it was actually illegal, It just sounded to violent for a kids cartoon (or something like that), I guess they saw the errors of their ways as the new series is now called ninja turtles.

It is odd about Panthro though, you could argue that it was more acceptable for the Turtles to use weapons as they were only ever using them on Robots Etc. But Panthro did use them on living creatures.

To my recollection, only the first season of Turtles ever aired on the BBC (Same with ThunderCats), though I did see the last season, when it jumped the shark (I.E. when they got rid of Shredder) on a satellite channel.

@kNIGHTWING01 The chucks in USA were just too violent according to the dreaded soccer mom that ruled the late 80's and early 90's hell they rule even today. Even more so even though Mikey was seen using the turtle cable which is a cool gadget nonetheless the chucks could still be seen holstered in the belt and in blink or you will miss it scenes where Mike held onto in certain scenes. I remember when I played the Arcade game on Battle Nexus, and I thought that it was a joke in terms of sound. You only hear a couple themes that are only present in the game, and there are no sound effects except for when you add up lives. I was really disappointed because the arcade game on Battle Nexus seemed to disregard the 80s animated show in all of its glory. Overall, I'm excited for TMNT month! I look forward to more of your videos and reviews of the TMNT games. :)
