@snooupii 2x / 100% stronger. 6770 is still a decent card. Try MIcrocenter or frys as well.

i wanna get the gt 440 ddr5 for htpc use and some casual gaming. im trying to decide between 512mb and 1gb. the 1gb is about $20 more. what do you recommend? the most intensive game i may play is batman arkham city

@kingkongwong007 512mb GT 440 will be fine for 1080p. The GTS 250 512mb/1gb version are neck and neck at 1920x1080. Usually by the time you're truly held back by the Vram on these low/mid range cards the game is unplayable regardless of Vram. 6570 DDR5 and 5670 DDR5 are also nice options if those are a bit less. They perform slightly ahead of the GT 440.

@Statikteck BenQ EW2730 27IN monitor. SILVERSTONE ST75F-P PSU , ZALMAN CNPS10X QUIET / Flex with a sickleflow fan. 8gb generic ram. 1TB Samsung F3. I'd try and shave off as much as possible to grab a VA or IPS panel monitor. The 27" Dell is $700 or so, but that BenQ is around $450. Honestly though, it looks fine as is. If you want to look into a VA or IPS try and find a local store that has them showcased.

i am a bit con fused on what to pick up i have a 500 dollar budget i was thinking of a 580 but i wanted to try t save some money i looked at the review on the 6870 cf but i see that in some games its on top while in others the 580 blows it away and i was wondering whats your take on the 6970. i just want the best video card for recording in fraps and keeping high fps in bf3 im probably only going to use 1 monitor but i want something that works good and will handle future titles.

@nlblewi The 6870 CF review was from Nov 2011 so they could have had some major driver updates for that. 6970 is about 15% behind the GTX 580. The 6970 = The GTX 570. 6870 in Xfire for $340 is quite potent. 6970 should be just fine for BF3.

Benefits are a 2nd open PCI slot for an extra GTX 590. Just make sure you have a 1200w power supply. If you want to run 3D vision, it will cut cards performance in half. So your dual 590's becomes like SLI 570's in 3D vision, and even games like Metro2033 , Witcher 2 with all candy on can crush that. So for 3D 590's wouldn't be a bad idea at all. This is only current games we're talking about, in a year, look out !!!

What do you think is better for performance on a 1-2 monitor set up with possbile 3D? I'm not sure if I want to set them up for surround yet.

EVGA Overclocked 570's SLI or a 590?

@Injektedchaos3 A single Nvidia card can run 2 monitors. Surround on a 2 monitor set-up isn't very good because the 2 bezels sit right in your line of sight. A GTX 590 is $750 versus $600 after MIR for SLI GTX 570's. Since they game the same and if you don't plan on grabbing a second GTX 590 then IMO 570's are a better idea. Plus if you run into trouble with a card, you still have one to run with while waiting for an RMA! Perhaps a Single GTX 570 is good enough! Runs all new games on full !!!

@WestCoastPCbuilder What would be the benefits of having a 590 over SLI 570s? I'm thinking maybe getting a 590 and SLI it in the future but I don't know if it would be worth running on 1 590 for now.
