  • Wonderful song and singer!!

  • Thank you

  • Flawless.. Thank you for making this video. !!

  • Perfect. Thankyou.

  • green sleeves was written by a young lady for her man. he told her...that when she lay in the grass that it will be his green sleeves holding her....when he was gone.

  • @trurapbattle where did you find this out from?

  • whoever sang beautimus!

  • Well... I love this song and love the way she sings it too. For me, her diction is pretty good. Maybe some people are misunderstading as in opera/lyrical singing, you have to sing the "r" in an Italian way because they're better for you to keep the tune, the voice projection and all, but for me, her pronunciation is great. We can clearly understand what she's saying and she can trasmit the softness of the song.

  • "discourteously" xD

  • well , im a filipina lolz... honestly i dotn really know the songs but when i heard it it makes me feel good ... very nice!!

  • she sounds Kathleen Ferrier-esque

PS: for those who don't know who this is, it's a compliment

  • I prefere Aafje =)

  • @raigekimaru

I place Heynis at the top even over K. Ferrier :-)

  • what a beautiful version!

  • PinkSherbert: Why would Aafje Heynis sing german? She may sing Dutch, but german...

    Anyway,it's english.

  • No, she is singing in English. Look up the lyrics and you can easily hear them being sung. FABULOUS VIDEO and Audio Thank you to whomever loaded this.

  • Wonderful music and images!

  • is this strange person singing the song German or somin'?

  • My first language is English and she has excellent diction. I am amazed how many Scandinavians speak an excellent unaccented English. After all the English language had vast contributions from the Scandinavian languages since large parts of the country was populated by the Vikings. I regard them as my brothers and sisters. Not only that they run their political affairs intelligently.

    Aled..

  • Aafje Heynis is from Holland

  • dude , that woman is from Holland ... where they speak Dutch, that is very related to German :P

Does English relate to Dutch ? I dont think it does.

  • @kristianjochems I'm sorry, but it does. English is a Germanic language, just like Dutch, German or the Skandinavian languages.

  • @AlJR189 English is not a germanic language English has many roots in different languages - mostly latin and french i thought!?

  • pelle pedes in picem !

  • Quelle voix profonde et vibrante ! Magnifique et émouvant

  • is this woman singing this song Dutch ?

she has such a wonderful voice!

  • Yes she is

  • you're both deaf

  • no she isn't....nub.

  • no it's in english cuz i understand what she's saying

  • Takes a while to load but worth it! =)

  • @nicubucurestiromania it was a friend did it for thisone

I thank you in his name

  • @nicubucurestiromania It's "Nor I" not "neither me"....

  • @craig29t you may want to see pictures taken by Dombrovskis, Peter who was a Tasmanian Wilderness Photographer of the 90s before his too early death in that very wilderness.

  • Very pleasing - wonderful voice.

  • Very much appreciated - wonderful voice.

  • Excellent video and pictures!

  • Dear Andy, nice to hear that Aafje is appreciated in Canada as well as inHolland

She was born in 1924 and is 84 yrs now, still alive. Many British folksongs she did beaufifully, but Greensleeves is below her level.Bit short of breath or too much on 1 line. The Dutch(Scottish born)alt/mezzo Caroline Kaart(born Raitt)(1932)did a splen

did job with Greensleeves and the non-classi

    cal British star Anne Shelton(1928-1994)did

the best version ever. With full orchestra

    she was greatly admired
