  • Forgive me - but you all actually watched this crap????!!!!

Thank fuck it was never brought over to the UK...

  • @alcockell Sure beat watching Benny Hill reruns from the UK.

  • @mlsgiant Yeah - later Benny Hill wasn't exactly our best export, but if you consider that the scriptwriting on this was far below what PSBs like the Beeb or Thames would accept at the time. Yes, we took a lot of Hanna-Barbera, but we also had Star Fleet, Ulysses 31, Cities of Gold etc running in our kids strands. Saturday TV was also different this side of the pond; read up on Swap Shop and Tiswas to compare. consider that even He-Man raised some parents' ire re merchandising in the uk

  • @mlsgiant as an American I have to say... no way Benny Hill was awesome

  • @alcockell - Dude, if you loved the old Atari game, this was GREAT! As was the old Pac Man cartoon, Frogger cartoon, Donkey Kong, DK Jr, Kangaroo, and Rubik the Amazing Cube!

  • @xxoxia none of which aired in the UK Thankfully. apart from P,acman.. which was roundly panned as one of H-B's worst.

    .

  • @alcockell - Pac Man was my favorite when I was 5! You can't really judge kiddy cartoons as an adult. Of course they're not good. I can't stand watching this stuff nowadays, but back then, it was great!

  • @xxoxia If I remember, the opinion I voiced was the general consensus *then*, never mind now.

Consider that PacMan was the ONLY one of the videogame-character cartoons that came across the pond. Then again - we didn't have the console war issue you had - home computers were the main thrust.

May have been the Nintendo Famicom versus the Sega Master over there - over here, it was the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, BBC Micro etc...

Video Game Crash didn't really happen in the same way...

  • @alcockell - Nah, back in 82 it was all about the Atari! Back then, I was 5, so I wasn't really aware of what other people thought about the shows, I just knew that I loved them! I used to draw Pac Man all the time. I had Pac Man everything and was really obsessed. But, now I live in the UK and can see how different TV is here. I'm surprised there are any of the same shows here, really.

  • Some people complain this show wasn't true to the game- that was typical of a lot of video-game based cartoons. Like other video-game based cartoons this show only borrowed some elemtns of the game. Other than have Q-bert hop on random objects to change their color and fly on some disc-shaped objects, and Q-bert say his trademark catchphrase in a word ballon whenever he got hurt, there wasn't much else that was like the game. When did Q-bert ever shoot things out of his nose in the game?

  • How come they didn't make a video game spin-off of this cartoon, like they did with the Pac-Man cartoon?

  • @Mavericker7 Wrong way round - with these, these cartoons were spinoffs from the games.

Pac-Man was the only one of these that came across the pond, IIRC... until pokemon etc.

  • @alcockell You don't get what I am saying. I KNOW This cartoon was a SPIN-OFF of the Q-Bert game. Why didn't they make a video-game BASED off of THIS CARTOON? A video game BASED ON THE Q-BERT CARTOON. A video game based on a cartoon based on a video game.

Pac-Land was a video game BASED on the Pac-Man cartoon.

  • @Mavericker7 I remember. Basically Pacman characters and Mario Land gameplay.

Was it a collaboration between Namco and Nintendo, or did Taito license characters off one and gameplay from another?

  • @alcockell Nintendo should have made a video game based on the Super Mario Bros. Super Show cartoons.

  • @alcockell The Pac-Man cartoon wasn't really true to the game.

  • @alcockell A video game BASED on the Q-bert cartoon WOULD HAVE SOLD. Q-bert does stuff in this cartoon he doesn't do in the video game, like shoot things out of his nose.

  • Look at 0:25 - there was ANOTHER snake besides Coily and Viper in this?

  • Every saturday morning i was stuck to supercade watching q-bert! Long time ago lol

  • Comment removed

  • man i'm so confused. on one hand i feel this kind of stuff is offensive to american indians, but on the other hand, it's q-bert, he can get away with anything! everytime i get a little outraged about how every year the genocide of millions of people is denied and rewritten with a fake feel good narrative, i take one look at that funny orange snout of his and i cant help but laugh. hilarious!

  • what the hell you talking about the cut up 7 minutes version on youtube?

i can't find that one and this isn't even 11 minutes moron! it's 4 minutes and 37 seconds the shortest version on youtube!

you are such a dork where is part 2 after all these months, you dope?

  • @TheyH8MePoopsie

1 - MinisodeNetwork uploaded a short version of the episode.

2 - This is only the first half. There is a second half, but I think he hasn't uploaded it yet...
