I have had to work in buidings with sodium lamps providing the only light, all these premises were vehicle workshops/warehouses,the lighting frove me crazy ,you couldnt tell what colour anything was and after a few hours of working under them when you go outside into the daylight your eyesight is screwed for about an hour after.God knows who's bright idea it was to install those lamps. The only reason they use them is their low power consumption, obviously money is more important than sight
The blinking pictures don't appear to change because losing sight of the picture for that long is enough to forget the objects and their positions. I guess that's what they were referring to in my psychology class, when they were talking about instantaneous memory (which is shorter than short term memory). Also, I think this exhibit would be really cool to visit while stoned.
the monochromatic room is not an illusion, because the only color able to be absorbed or reflected is orange, that is all that is possible to be seen by the human eye.
I think your blink change video of the street scene is broken as the final pictures changed but the original demonstration pictures showed the same street scene unless there was a very miniscule change. The final one showed different color posts and cars not so with the blink ones.
@psinckl You really have to pay attention. The first change is the banner above the mini-van, changes to suns. Second change is the curb between the cars. Third change is the window on the right hand side above the suns. Forth change is the removal of the "certificates" sign above the minivan. Fifth change is the most dramatic. The car on the right hand side is completely different. (black to white). Look again....pretty cool stuff huh?
Since colour is all about reflection of visible light at different wavelengths you can't actually see the colour of the flowers. When you shine the white light onto it (A compositive of all these wave lengths) the flowers reflect their respective wavelength and this gives them their colour. So you can only see the coloured flowers when the white light is shone on them.

Especially that last shot. Pause at 3:30 and notice that it still seems to be moving.

Oh yeah, that's one of my favorites of all time. I've seen it many times before, even before I smoked.

so you're ok with the 3 sun faces appearing out of no where and the black car turning into a white one.
