  • What was the theme song name and who did it?

  • @lecagot2 It was Experiment In Terror by Al Caiola. It sounds like something John Waters would have used on the soundtrack of PINK FLAMINGOS.

  • @ezandycle Thanks for the info. Brings back a lot of memories from the 1960's watching Chillie Billie with my brother.

  • @ezandycle By the way. I found you can buy the song on Itunes.

  • @lecagot2 Cool. I might check it out.

  • the guy on the far right at 0:06 looks like a swinger and is pissed off cause the other couples are ignoring him...

  • It's 11:42 PM and like 35 years ago I would have been settling in for a couple B horror flicks. The one I REALLY wanted to see was alway the second feature. Guess what? I never made it.

  • WOW-ad for the VIP. I think someone from my family still has some glasses from that place. It was renamed many times (HubCaps, faces, etfc) and we always thought nothing could survive there. Later we learned it was the same owner all along just getting the new crowd. People thought it was Pittsburgh's version of Studio 54.

  • Pittsburgh in the 70's was awesome! Chilly Billy, The Steelers, Geoff Christie on KQV. All totally AWESOME!!!

  • Have to watch this movie - never seen it before. But the intro has nothing compared to the NYC intro with the six fingered hand coming up out of the ground.

  • My Mother used to be fun-loving & athletically-inclined; now she just sits around pretending that she's sick and infirmed.

  • This is so awesome! I remember seeing BEAST OF BLOOD (one of the still in this opening) and it's been a favorite of mine since. Incredible memories. Thanks!!!

  • Love it thanks for the memories. Love that Chilly Billy

  • hahahah my parents used to go to the VIP!

  • Kids from my neighborhood in Elm Grove would come to my house and stay up late for Chiller Theater. We always made our own Chef Boy ArDee Pizza. Good simple times...

  • Thats weird, I live in Bethlehem, near Elm Grove.

  • @MoshMasterD That's funny I live in Northampton near Bethlehem

  • Dude, we need that 24 hour hotline back! I don't know where to party O.O

  • I grew up in Bethlehem! 50 Chapel Road...2 houses from the water tower. Where do you live?

  • @Follguy I grew up on View Point Lane. Stone Church Rd. Moved to Bethlehem- Moved back to Stone Church Rd. Miss 'ol Chilly Billy on saturday nights...

  • WIIC 11 ALIVE

  • The V.I.P. commercial was a bonus.

    Thanks for posting!

  • The best show there ever was with the greatest host of all-time. I remember watching Chiller Theater on Saturday afternoons before WIIC(now WPXI) moved the show to Saturday nights. Then I would stay up until four or five in the morning watching Chilly and those great monster movies. In the early days it was all live, too.Fond memories.

  • wpxi, channel 11, what news channel did it broadcast? cbs, nbc, abc or a different one?

  • NBC

  • Al Caiola's version of Experiment in Terror!

  • additional: love the Chilly Billy theme music too !!

  • a CLASSIC post. Born 1958, Pittsburgh, PA. awe, those were the days....I remember when I could not get to sleep due to dad blasting Chilly Billy movies on Saturday night. They scared the hell out of me ! Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!! I LOVED "Chiller Theater" so much! I can remember waiting for Saturday night to come all week. I would watch "Saturday Night Live" then "Chiller Theater". Also, if you were lucky enough you could find an episode of "Star Trek". Long live "Chilly" Billy Cardille. I liked the castle opening better though.

  • Chiller Theater was excellent. I remember when it aired right after the 11 o clock news, the newscasters would swivel their chairs to the screen behind them...as if they were going to stay to watch the show!

  • I bet my dad was switching when this aired.

  • I used to get the crap scared out of me every saturday night. The opening that used to get me was the one when the clay letters would eat each other!!! I have moved away from Pittsburgh and this brough back good memories. Thanks!!!
