If you had any idea what you were talking bout you'd probably think about how much twisting force is on the chassis/engine/gearbox and with the amount of revs it does going through the standard 6sp synchomesh box you'll realise thats probably why probably more than 95% of 7 sec cars have either an auto or clutchless manual. The most skilful thing to do in your cavalier might be changing gears but in a car like this its being able to steer it and keep in the throttle...

@Sheckter88 - I don't know shit about suspension. What do know is it is pretty sweet to see a car run an 8sec quarter mile and not have a wheelie bar. That is all I was saying. Supras are such cars. I have an 86 Grand National and no matter how powerful I make it, I would want to keep the suspension such that I wouldn't need a wheelie bar. Tony Gomes ran a 7.97 in his stock suspension setup GN and no wheelie bar.

Well, I really wasnt trying to bash on V8s I love engines in all kinds and a nice V8 is one of my favourites. The thing that got me mad was that someone said that the supra hardly does a wheelie, and it got me thinking about how many vids there are here of older american cars that more or less lift the front wheels instead of going really fast, more or less for show. A good setup suspension should lift the front just in the start for traction, and then go down again to decrease drag.
@DemoFly Yes, I do. A proper built car should squat just in the start when maximum traction is needed. Long wheelies just increase drag and actually slow the car down. But I know it has quite a big purpose for show.
@fyllefinken Looks like someone does know what torque is. Lets think for a second. While your Supra may make lets say 400ftlbs of torque at 6k. My mustang makes 330ftbls at 3500 or so. The differance is at 2K rpm im already making 300ftlbs. Then the torque just kind of levels off around 330.
With larger v8s with 6-700 ftbls of torque. Its hard NOT to lift the front wheels
@sharkbait11 Not all Supras are making 400ft/lbs at 6000rpms. Stock Supra turbos make 315ft/lbs at 4400rpms and small turbo modded Supras are making as much as 500ft/lbs at 4500rpms. This is due to tuning and use of the right modifications (quick spool valves, E85, smaller turbo sizes, nitrous etc)
@fyllefinken some of those cars arnt lifting there wheels the frame twist causing them to life from to much power and ive seen wheelie bars break from a muscle car so keep calling them stupid
@fyllefinken - You have much to learn in the world of drag racing (and other things I'm sure) so keep your mind open and your fingers off the keyboard where you are prone to placing comments on any subject you lack knowledge of. Racers in FAST cars (and on many bikes) NEED what is called 'weight transfer' for maximum traction. For some, this means the front wheel or wheels lift only slightly, for others the wheel stand may be several feet in the air. Check out some NHRA Super Stock class cars.
@8secondBusa I never said they shouldn't lift their front at all. Just saying that too much isn't good either. I know weight-transfer, since I'm into dragracing. You don't want to lift the front to high or to long out on the track, it just increases air drag. It's simple.

there is nothing to be said by anybody, except the owner of the car, on the subject of how much or little of a lift is needed to place the right amount of weight on the rear tires.

You obviously know nothing about strip racing. if you knew anything about strip racing is that wheelies are all about just adding lots of torque and removing weight to the back. its not that hard buddy. @Sheckter88 - I don't know shit about suspension. What do know is it is pretty sweet to see a car run an 8sec quarter mile and not have a wheelie bar. That is all I was saying. Supras are such cars. I have an 86 Grand National and no matter how powerful I make it, I would want to keep the suspension such that I wouldn't need a wheelie bar. Tony Gomes ran a 7.97 in his stock suspension setup GN and no wheelie bar.

Well, I really wasnt trying to bash on V8s I love engines in all kinds and a nice V8 is one of my favourites. The thing that got me mad was that someone said that the supra hardly does a wheelie, and it got me thinking about how many vids there are here of older american cars that more or less lift the front wheels instead of going really fast, more or less for show. A good setup suspension should lift the front just in the start for traction, and then go down again to decrease drag.

@fyllefinken Looks like someone does know what torque is. Lets think for a second. While your Supra may make lets say 400ftlbs of torque at 6k. My mustang makes 330ftbls at 3500 or so. The differance is at 2K rpm im already making 300ftlbs. Then the torque just kind of levels off around 330.
With larger v8s with 6-700 ftbls of torque. Its hard NOT to lift the front wheels

I do know what torque is, since I work alot with tuned V8s, 572cui, both N/A and supercharged.
Thing is still, that many people set their 4-link suspension in a way that tends to lift the front, and squat the back way to much.

@sharkbait11 Not all Supras are making 400ft/lbs at 6000rpms. Stock Supra turbos make 315ft/lbs at 4400rpms and small turbo modded Supras are making as much as 500ft/lbs at 4500rpms. This is due to tuning and use of the right modifications (quick spool valves, E85, smaller turbo sizes, nitrous etc)

@fyllefinken - You have much to learn in the world of drag racing (and other things I'm sure) so keep your mind open and your fingers off the keyboard where you are prone to placing comments on any subject you lack knowledge of. Racers in FAST cars (and on many bikes) NEED what is called 'weight transfer' for maximum traction. For some, this means the front wheel or wheels lift only slightly, for others the wheel stand may be several feet in the air. Check out some NHRA Super Stock class cars.

I have nothing against wheelies, and I know air-drag is small at low speeds, that's what I'm trying to say. My comment was a positive one against this supra, it squat's the rear and lifts the front just a few feet out, unlike many others that run with their front in mid-air well over the 600 feet mark.
