  • Nice pub and good beer. Expensive though apart from the GREAT food deals.

  • I have been here. I strongly recommend this place. Especially the Sunday meal and the pub quizzes! Bob is a legend. Have chatted with him on a fair few occasions!

  • I went in the other day and the interior looks like a shoddy Yates wine bar. It looks so charming and rustic on the outside but so tacky and crap on the inside. Furniture - appalling, lighting - offensive. It could be amazing. But it needs work

  • Aha, but what about the Students?!! We kept the place afloat from 1986-1990, cashing cheques for £2 a pop, much to the enragement of the red-faced publican "Geoff" in charge at the time. He drove a large, dilapidated Toyota Crown estate, which reflected his own effervescent personality. Then after that was some moustachioed twit. The students provide 90% of the business, not you clowns in the pubic bar!!! LOL

  • hahaha...spent many happy hours in here!!

  • Brings back great memories went to Keele 2001-05. In fact I remember Bob the narrator of this video well a nice man.

  • aaah so THATS Bob Beattie! Made famous by the Tavira Tuna Run voice over :)

  • lol

  • A+++

  • Nice to see it again, but it looks very different from how it was 1967-1971 when I was a student at The Hawthorns. All very basic then and they certainly didn't do food. The landlord was spectacularly gruff and not a fan of students, despite the fact we were his economic salvation.Seem to remember we called him 'The Bear'....a bulky man with a big beard.

    Do students still go there?No signs of any in this video clip.

  • Ye they do, a lot of students go for roast dinners. It's also used as a stop-off during pub golf runs, went there this year for one in fact as part of rugby

  • @oldpaw They do but reluctantly. The inside of the pub has been absolutely ruined. They've tried to make it look McDonalds.

  • brings back memories, frequented the Sneyd 1980-84
