Are neumann mics really that much better than At4040, s ???

Or any out there compatible with these mics because they have so much reverence in commercial studios. I am thinking of purchasing one for my studio...buts whats better, a great mic, or mic pre amp? aaahhh haaaaa!! Tis a complexing one isnt it, ha ha ha ha ha!!!

I really don't understand. Capsules are the same, with a response quasi linear ... bandwidth of 10 octaves and the man tells: this is especially for woman voice ??? Based on what ? What is the real difference ? I really have difficult to understand ...

Since I do not make these mics or work at Neumann, I can't tell you exactly. But the circuitry has a lot to do with what the sound will be in the end. Mics like the U87 have a warm and full bottom end, and therefore sound nice for voiceovers and male singers. It makes your voice sound a bit bigger than it really is.

In 1987 I bought ( for the company in which I worked ) 4 TLM170i and there was the electric diagram with them.

Looking it, it seemd quite linear, without possibility to colour the sound ... at least, as I told: it seemd so ...

Not entirely. The U87 has more coloration than these 2 "female" mics.
