i really like how u r reviewing this blade mcx, but one question. is it possible that u guys sell a wall output charger for 1s 3.7 volt battery rather than the AA battery portable charger or do u think my idea is really falling out of my hands?
I just wanted to echo the sentiments on the lack of an ac wall charger.... it boggles the mind, it's an INDOOR heli!!! You'll almost always have a wall socket to plug into if you're flying this heli, it's completely counterintuitive to have a battery charger that requires batteries.
my blade mcx is good i oncelet my friend fly it and he broke it the next day we went out and bought a new part and fixed basicly i couldnt fly for liek 12 hours thats to long oh i always do the side ways thingy wwere its on its side then flips up and fly's away i dont recommend doing it but its very handy
I stumbled across this at rocketg dot com forward slash micro He has all kinds of
free plans for very light carbon indoor flyers, using the radio and gear from cheap wal mart rc planes! He built the same as those 300 dollar planes for only twenty bucks! Neat!
i dont recomend using the radio that comes with this for anything other than small indoor aircraft. it doesn't have good range and you cannot program it.
@VisionQuest2012 is this a good begginer helicopter? i'm new to rc helicopters, and wondering if this is a high quality, easy to use begginer helicopter
I've narrowed down my options of helis to this one and a few others, but it really bums me out that the charger doesnt have an a/c adapter. I apreciate the quality of design of these helis, but for the price, shouldn't they all include an a/c adapter? I hate these kits that make you use batteries for the charger. What a waste.
I just got a cheap coaxial heli from Academy Sports for $30 that works surprisingly well AND even it has a wall charger, AND its a radio transmitter, not and infrared one. I mean come on, I know there's a difference in quality, but if this POS knock-off can supply all that, so can E-Flite. That really bugs me and is the only thing holding me back on buying an mCX.
well its your choice. the mcx is an excellent heli and if that little thing will stop you, then thats ok. maybe you could message eflite and tell them to start supplying a wall charger. they usually listen to every word a customer says.
Thanks for your suggestion horizonflyer9, I think I will email them. And as far as that knock-off I mentioned, well yeah I've decided to take it back and save up for the E-flite. I am well aware that there will be an improvement in quality. But to whoever thumbs downed me, I'm just sharing my thoughts and perspective on the matter - not trying to defame E-flite. Shouldn't thumb downs be saved for rude, irrelevant, or inflammatory comments?
What new one are you referring to? The mCX S300? If so, then I'm not aware of that including a wall charger either, unless you are saying Eflite just very recently release and brand new version that does include one.
In one video, the author stated that you have to re-trim the mCX EVERY time you insert a new battery?!?!?! is this true? if so, that's disappointing. :(
cool do you know how much it is? sounds pretty good i have a skylift chinook thats mostly for outdoors its hard inside its really hard to fly lol its just fun to have a really small one like this to fly around in the house and do you know the recharge time?
What should I do to correct the issue that I'm having: the heli tends to drift in an circle as though swinging from a string from overhead. This doesn't seem to be a trim issue, seeing as the heli doesn't really surge in any direction. It goes straight up, and then starts moving in the manner described.
What is happening is an over-correction by the flybar. This is actually a trim problem but it is very slight. When the heli will start drifting, the flybar will correct it but it tends to over-correct. then it will over-correct the over correction... this results in a circle. Experiment in different trim settings and you may find a good center point.
Thank you for your quick and concise response. I did find that it was a trim issue. It's a very tedious matter of noticing the initial direction of the drift. It took about a minute, but it's much better now. I actually just thought I'd post a comment while my other battery finished charging. Already have five flights on it.
To anyone contemplating an Air Hog or Venom over this, don't waste your money. I've returned all AH's and Venoms and the mCX is money well-spent.
hey mike its marc ur biffle i saw on ur thing u said u dont have a lot of friends? wats up with that? you have plenty. only angelos stupid. mikes an awesome guy. hes smart and hes athletic. (well hes fast and has amazing pace)i love watching him fly hes awesome. maybe ill help you build one onetime not fly them
watch out! the inner shaft is known to break where the flybar mounts, with hard crashes. an aluminum sleeve can be bought to prevent breakage for around $5. most importantly, just cut the throttle when your about to crash, dont try to save it!
The vpaor is an amazing aircraft. i flew it once at a rc club meeting and it is a ton of fun. its slow, easy to control, turns on a dime, and extremely durable. i would buy one myself, but i dont have enough space in my house to fly it
OMG what kind of beginner would pay $100 for a heli???? who ever would is truly obsessed..... air hogs are well they break a lot.. but once u get the hang of it they're fine! so take that blade mcx lovers!!!
remember this is a "hobby grade" helicopter. these things aren't exactly fun and games - the kind that little kids buy for kicks. this is for serious aviation enthusiasts and if you aren't willing to pay a (relatively) small price, then its your loss!
honestly, airhogs is absolute crap compared to this. the helicopter is $129.99 completely ready to fly, and its $99.99 without the remote. Its a great heli to start out this hobby with.
I bought one and flew it at a competition and came in 2nd. It's great! now i'm going to buy a MIA microflight racing body. then a vapor BNF. do you know if those fly good?
the only thing i dont like about the blade mcx rtf is the charger...it doesnt have an ac adapter. u got to use batteries, and it takes 4 batteries to charge the lipo battery. batteries are expensive and it eats them up fairly quickly. flying however is great. a lot better than those air hogs, but its also 2 times as much.i went from this to a cp pro to a blade 400
Yeah I know! and its impossible to tell when the battery is done charging! my charger broke so I spent $30 to get a new one, and then now my new charger is acting weird. now I need to hold the battery in with a rubberband!
I just bought this heli on Saturday. This is my first air RC. It's amazing! i love how good the response times are on it. also i like how if you push the right stick down it goes in to low fly mod allowing beginners to fly with even more ease. i bought 1 extra battery from my LHS and i let one charge while i use one i think im going to get another tomorrow. i would definitely recommend this to any and everyone starting this (so far) tight hobby of chopper flying.
this is with out a doubt the best heli i have ever flown, i bought a falcon 40 couldn't hover after 3 months. so i got a blade cx2 and it was a little easier only took bout a month and a half. but the cx2 wasn't very stable compared to the mcx. my 8 yr old flew planes only never flew a heli so i explained the controls to him he picked it right up and never crashed once. this heli is super stable and i love the high and low rates that was my prob the sticks were to sensitive gota love the lowrate
yeah i love this heli too. ive never tried any other helis before but right as soon as i did my first takeoff, i knew that the heli was way to stable for its small size. It is amazing how easy it is to fly! eflite really did a great job on this heli.
lol niiice im gettin a similar one. its called lama 2 micro and it seems the same but folding blades which seems to work out well. i put one on layby and hope to get a great heli! lol.
yea ive flown those. those are pretty good helis but i really love this helicopter. the mcx is even more stable than the bigger version! (the blade cx2)
My dog attacked mine, but didnt hurt it. Make sure you turn the transmitter on first, then connect the battery. And dont be a dummy like me and press all the little black buttons wondering what they do.
i thihk its achilles heel is that its just too small for its own good, the connector on the battery is really poor, ill get a new one on monday, probly three actually.thanks for your help.
the chargers fine, its the red light on the heli that blinks once then it wont initialize fully, the battery[lipo]is fully charged.its so small i cant see what the prob could be!
i bought one yesterday and its died allready, when i connect the battery the red light flashes a thou of a second and nothing!it seems to have just given up,any ideas anyone?
your charger might be dead, or it may be your battery. the charger for this heli is really crappy so it probably gave out already. one thing that may be wrong is that the charge port slid into the charger, so check that the jack that the battery plugs into is all the way at the surface of the charger. you should try getting a new battery and charger and it will probably work.
i broke the inner shaft on my mcx. replaced it with a new one and now the heli is hard to control and even after trimming it, its drifts to the left. any ideas??
no, i dont have any ideas. thats really weird. did you make sure that the shaft is in there straight, or is it crooked? if its not straight then it will wobble in flight and make it hard to control.
I'm hoping maybe Horizon will send me some free flybars or somthin from my sob-story, lol. I definitely wouldn't have tried that if the video didn't show it being done. That said, my new ones should be here tomorrow. I wish I'd got some spare batteries too, lol!
ya it happened to me too. the stabiliser bar was strong enough but it broke the plastic linkage on inner shaft at the top. now after replacing the shaft, my heli wont fly correctly. oh man, i so want it fixed. it was so much fun chasing the shih tzu around with this heli.
Obviously my posts are working now, lol. Also, I'm currently writing Horizon Hobby to let them know about my gripe with their video. Again though, this little chopper's killer! To be on the safe side, you might wanna pick up a couple spare flybars though, and another battery or two so you can keep flyin. It's addicting! :)
i love flying this little thing! and yes i already had to replace the flybar once. that thing is really fragile. thats the only down side other than that this heli is amazing.
I keep trying to post this and it doesn't seem to wanna go up. DO NOT do what's done @ 3:06 in this video - mash the throttle to upright the chopper if it's laying on it's side. I got my mCX and decided to try that a day later, and guess what, I snapped the flybar on first attempt. I wouldn't have even tried, but I'd seen it done in this video and figured it could take the punishment. Needless to say, I was/am pissed and am currently waiting on my new flybars to arrive. The heli's awesome tho!
does the trim change with speed everytime? it seems impossible to have the heli stand at a spot for too long. there is a gentle drift in some direction always.
believe me this heli is STABLE. the flybar, the gyro, and the great balance makes this thing really stable and it can stay in the same spot for a while when it is properly trimmed. Sure it sways a little bit but with small corrections you can have this in a very flat hover.
i just bought this lat night. it is a lot of fun. the heli was usable right off the box. one thing though is that the trim seems to change everytime and needs re adjustment. also the stabiliser bar linkage had come loose needed to be reattached after i realised thats whats making the heli difficult to control. overall, its a lot of fun!! definite buy for any first timer like me.
i know! its just too bad that 2 weeks ago (1 day after i got it) i flew too high and hit the ceiling and destroyed the flybar! :( the part is taking FOREVER to arrive and i haven't been able to fly it for 2 weeks! other than the weak flybar, its a great heli and i love flying it!
yeah either that or make sure your local hobby show has parts (my local hobby show has every single part for this helicopter EXCEPT the flybar! lucky me lol)
i know right? i got an airhogs 2ch helicopter from walmart that cost me $60 and when i flew it it was no fun at all! you couldn't even control the thing! efltie has really outdone themselves with this helicopter!
the battery takes about 30 - 40 minutes to charge. its a long wait but if you get more batteries (only $11 a piece) then you can cycle them and spend less time waiting for them to charge. Yes the battery is very similar to the parkzone micro airplanes but you should use the recommended batteries. hope this helps!
i just got the blade mcx today and all i have to say is that it is AMAZING!!!!!!! it is so much fun to fly, and its so easy! i was flying in every room of my house and it was so much fun! you can do anything with this helicopter! and i have never flown a helicopter before, but it was still so easy to fly this one! everyone, you HAVE to get this thing!
I work at a hobby shop, and when we got these in..last Thursday, I couldn't wait to break open the demo model. Man, Eflite has really outdone themselves with this one. We've already sold half of the shipment that came in since.
exactly thats why i just called my hobby dealer and asked them to hold one for me when they get them in. i can't wait to get it and I'm counting off the days until it is released.
yes this little heli looks very cool indeed wish they were about when i was looking at lama's one half of me is thinking i dontneed a little heli while the rest just wants one lol :D
CRAP!! The heli, i mean. I'ts so small, you can only really hover, or do REALLY slow circuits. Get a parkzone vapor!! Really robust, Had mine nearly half a year, never get bored of it! Also, it will handle a mild breeze... this, you can forget about it.
i thought about getting the vapor but i dont have enough room in mu house. believe me, this may seem like crap to you, but i think it looks really cool.
the video was on a website. i pressed, "play video" and windows media player came up to play it. then, i just hit file, then save as. i saved it to my computer and put it up on youtube.
@horizonflyer9 can i bind the transmitter for the MCX to my Blade CX2 helicopter. Thanks sir!

yea they sure are durable. and if you do break something they sell all of the parts!

i thihk its achilles heel is that its just too small for its own good, the connector on the battery is really poor, ill get a new one on monday, probly three actually.thanks for your help.
dickweeeeeeeeeed 3 years ago
the chargers fine, its the red light on the heli that blinks once then it wont initialize fully, the battery[lipo]is fully charged.its so small i cant see what the prob could be!
dickweeeeeeeeeed 3 years ago
i bought one yesterday and its died allready, when i connect the battery the red light flashes a thou of a second and nothing!it seems to have just given up,any ideas anyone?
dickweeeeeeeeeed 3 years ago
your charger might be dead, or it may be your battery. the charger for this heli is really crappy so it probably gave out already. one thing that may be wrong is that the charge port slid into the charger, so check that the jack that the battery plugs into is all the way at the surface of the charger. you should try getting a new battery and charger and it will probably work.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
i broke the inner shaft on my mcx. replaced it with a new one and now the heli is hard to control and even after trimming it, its drifts to the left. any ideas??
cray0308 3 years ago
no, i dont have any ideas. thats really weird. did you make sure that the shaft is in there straight, or is it crooked? if its not straight then it will wobble in flight and make it hard to control.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
what is the charge time and run time on one of these??
chris3923168 3 years ago
the charge time takes from 30 mininutes to a little over an hour and the run time is about 10 minutes.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
im geting won for my birthday i flow won it fly nice
reecesmith96 3 years ago
yeah i got this for my birthday too. i love how it flies.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
I'm hoping maybe Horizon will send me some free flybars or somthin from my sob-story, lol. I definitely wouldn't have tried that if the video didn't show it being done. That said, my new ones should be here tomorrow. I wish I'd got some spare batteries too, lol!
Tinytacohead 3 years ago
yeah i dont know how they did that trick in the video. but now i put in an annotation saying not to do it.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
ya it happened to me too. the stabiliser bar was strong enough but it broke the plastic linkage on inner shaft at the top. now after replacing the shaft, my heli wont fly correctly. oh man, i so want it fixed. it was so much fun chasing the shih tzu around with this heli.
cray0308 3 years ago
You have over tightend the flybar screw. loosen it off and it should fly fine. i had the same prob.
stevessub 3 years ago
Why won't my frikkin post's post, heh.. (test)
Tinytacohead 3 years ago
Obviously my posts are working now, lol. Also, I'm currently writing Horizon Hobby to let them know about my gripe with their video. Again though, this little chopper's killer! To be on the safe side, you might wanna pick up a couple spare flybars though, and another battery or two so you can keep flyin. It's addicting! :)
Tinytacohead 3 years ago
i love flying this little thing! and yes i already had to replace the flybar once. that thing is really fragile. thats the only down side other than that this heli is amazing.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
I keep trying to post this and it doesn't seem to wanna go up. DO NOT do what's done @ 3:06 in this video - mash the throttle to upright the chopper if it's laying on it's side. I got my mCX and decided to try that a day later, and guess what, I snapped the flybar on first attempt. I wouldn't have even tried, but I'd seen it done in this video and figured it could take the punishment. Needless to say, I was/am pissed and am currently waiting on my new flybars to arrive. The heli's awesome tho!
Tinytacohead 3 years ago
same happened with me! i dont know how the did it but they shouldnt have shown that. people will try it and break their helicopter!
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
For only $4059.99!
qqstar999 3 years ago
actually only $129.99 lol
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
Fly time........?I cant find it...
hcvhcvhcvhcv 3 years ago
it flies for 8-10 minutes on a single charge.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
does the trim change with speed everytime? it seems impossible to have the heli stand at a spot for too long. there is a gentle drift in some direction always.
cray0308 3 years ago
believe me this heli is STABLE. the flybar, the gyro, and the great balance makes this thing really stable and it can stay in the same spot for a while when it is properly trimmed. Sure it sways a little bit but with small corrections you can have this in a very flat hover.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
i have already 6-7 recharges on this. i need another battery to max my flight times!!! cant keep away from this toy.
cray0308 3 years ago
i know right?
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
i just bought this lat night. it is a lot of fun. the heli was usable right off the box. one thing though is that the trim seems to change everytime and needs re adjustment. also the stabiliser bar linkage had come loose needed to be reattached after i realised thats whats making the heli difficult to control. overall, its a lot of fun!! definite buy for any first timer like me.
cray0308 3 years ago
You are exactly right. With my AirHogs I could not MOVE!!! It was so lame.
This thing (the mCX) gives me real control which means less crashing and better maneuvering around tight spaces! I love it!
BisMaxx 3 years ago
i know! its just too bad that 2 weeks ago (1 day after i got it) i flew too high and hit the ceiling and destroyed the flybar! :( the part is taking FOREVER to arrive and i haven't been able to fly it for 2 weeks! other than the weak flybar, its a great heli and i love flying it!
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
I'll have to figure out what part that is, maybe I should get one in case I wreck too... lol
BisMaxx 3 years ago
yeah either that or make sure your local hobby show has parts (my local hobby show has every single part for this helicopter EXCEPT the flybar! lucky me lol)
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
Just picked up this Heli. What an amazing piece of technology and how much fun.
I first bought a "Walmart" model that costed almost $80 and was touted as "one of the best".
You would not believe the difference with the MCX. Glad I spent a little extra money, its worth it!
BisMaxx 3 years ago
i know right? i got an airhogs 2ch helicopter from walmart that cost me $60 and when i flew it it was no fun at all! you couldn't even control the thing! efltie has really outdone themselves with this helicopter!
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
how long does it take to charge? i also saw that the charger, and battery look similar to the parkzone micro plane charger, and battery. thanks jake.
howdydoody202020 3 years ago
the battery takes about 30 - 40 minutes to charge. its a long wait but if you get more batteries (only $11 a piece) then you can cycle them and spend less time waiting for them to charge. Yes the battery is very similar to the parkzone micro airplanes but you should use the recommended batteries. hope this helps!
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
i just got the blade mcx today and all i have to say is that it is AMAZING!!!!!!! it is so much fun to fly, and its so easy! i was flying in every room of my house and it was so much fun! you can do anything with this helicopter! and i have never flown a helicopter before, but it was still so easy to fly this one! everyone, you HAVE to get this thing!
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
I work at a hobby shop, and when we got these in..last Thursday, I couldn't wait to break open the demo model. Man, Eflite has really outdone themselves with this one. We've already sold half of the shipment that came in since.
W4lkingTarg3t 3 years ago
exactly thats why i just called my hobby dealer and asked them to hold one for me when they get them in. i can't wait to get it and I'm counting off the days until it is released.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
yes this little heli looks very cool indeed wish they were about when i was looking at lama's one half of me is thinking i dontneed a little heli while the rest just wants one lol :D
0n3m1s1s0 3 years ago
yeah this thing looks pretty cool and its only $130 ready to fly so its not that expensive.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
Nice. It looks like an awesome Helicopter
jetfire53 3 years ago
yeah it does
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
3:05 That was taken, and played backwards
sheldonholy 3 years ago
CRAP!! The heli, i mean. I'ts so small, you can only really hover, or do REALLY slow circuits. Get a parkzone vapor!! Really robust, Had mine nearly half a year, never get bored of it! Also, it will handle a mild breeze... this, you can forget about it.
Sheldon
sheldonholy 3 years ago
i thought about getting the vapor but i dont have enough room in mu house. believe me, this may seem like crap to you, but i think it looks really cool.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
Oh, ok. If your house is too small, go for it!
Actually, i commented before the reasonably quick circuits...
Sorry for the 'inconvenience' :)
Cheers,
Sheldon
sheldonholy 3 years ago
yeah it looks like a pretty neat toy i cant wait to get it
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
Oh, you got it on order then??
sheldonholy 3 years ago
sort of. this hobby dealer near me called U-fly Hobbies is going to hold on to one for me when they get it.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
Oh, unlucky! Their in my LHS already... Good luck with it!
sheldonholy 3 years ago
wow! how did u do that? I mean git the video on there like that?
Blazerman004 3 years ago
the video was on a website. i pressed, "play video" and windows media player came up to play it. then, i just hit file, then save as. i saved it to my computer and put it up on youtube.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
cool
Blazerman004 3 years ago
I can't get their videos for the mCX to play. Bummer.
