@jaxsonday10 I know AFL is the number one sport in Australia.. but A-league fans are still more passionate than AFL. Have you ever looked at the amazing atmosphere at Melbourne Victory home games? Obviously not. AFL fans just sit down and talk the whole time and clap when a goal is kicked. How do I know this? I've been to 34 AFL games. Always dead-boring atmosphere in the ground..

@fjbutch I've only been to 2 decent games in my life. They were Adelaide 74-63 Geelong & Port 101-104 Gold Coast. The rest were really boring in my opinion. I like soccer mainly because it's unpredictable and always attacking and close. AFL games usually are always decided at 3/4 or early in last quarter. You should attend an A-league game if you think AFL has 'great atmosphere'. I like AFL, but it really doesn't compare. Soccer (for some weird reason) is under-rated in Australia. :/

@AdelaideUnitedFC2011 AFL fans at games actually WATCH the game for entertainment, don't need chants and songs to cause atmosphere to have a good time.

The thing with AFL is that you can actually watch the momentum switch between sides and it is reflective on the scoreboard. With soccer, one team could dominate for the entire game and still end up 0-0. Scoreboard doesn't always give a true reflection on the game itself.

I like soccer too, AFL is simply more competitive for all involved.

@jaxsonday10 Lol? I went to Collingwood vs Adelaide in round 22 of 2007 at Etihad. The atmosphere was just like any other AFL game, really.. AFL fans aren't good at all. Collingwood fans are over-rated, because they don't compare to Adelaide United's red army, Melbourne Victorys BWB or Sydney FC's cove.

hahahahhaha :D LOVE it :D I'm Australian and I love love love footy it's interesting to get this perspective on it. I can tell you Americans why they wear such little outfits: as stated in the video, a footy pitch is huge and footy involves a lot of running so they get very hot. Simple as that, seriously. :-) they do occasionally play in long sleeves but very very rarely.

GO DEMONS!!!!!! btw, the umpire throws it over his head so he cant see who he is throwing it to to make it more fair. and when the ball is thrown or bounced up 2 players have to basiclly knee eachother to try and tap the ball down to a team mate.

and the statues where in cricket outfits coz afl was originally made to keep cricket players fit in winter.
