Don't worry kid it's not a secret. It's called the Davey Knot developed by Davey Wotton, fly tyer and guide on the White River in Arkansas. Most fly fishers know about the knot. It's a simply modified version of the Figure 8 and Pitzen Knot. Videos are all over You Tube on how to tie it.
I like the palomar also and use it in most instances when not flyfishing, but this is actually a really good knot and better than the palomar for many flies. What good is a knot when you can't run a double line through the eye of the hook??? Don't be close-minded people.
It is "The Davy Knot was created by Davy Wotton from the United Kingdom" (basicly a Figure-8). See flyspoke's "Davy Knot & Double Surgeons Knot" for some more info.
@panser12 Sorry for that comment, was just fooling around while you showd the knot with some fishing line around a pencil. Tried it later down on the beach tying a sinker and some hooks and it works very well. SORRY again.
Thanks for posting this. To me, the knot looks like the beginning of a 'timber hitch'. I use the timber hitch for fastening one end of my bowstrings, although I would generally wrap the tail end several times. The timber hitch is also used in situations where a lot of strain comes on a rope because the knot is relatively easy to loosen and undo after the strain is released (e.g. towing logs with a tractor). I must try tying a hook with it. Best wishes from New Zealand... Stephen Coote.

I do not trust this knot, the easiest and 100% trustable is palomar knot, cause it doesn't slip and has double line in hook's eye.
Thanks. M.R.B. Brazil
