  • Is this way more effective than when you rest the bar on your front, resting the bar on the shoulders (front squat as a body builder told me). He never showed me this way of squating. I will start inc-operating this type of squat into my work out. You have excellent quads btw. Hope to get my legs to that stage one day!! Stay well.

  • @TAryn27able i prefer it better, but its a little different. I know powerlifters that use this for deadlifting complimentary lift because it complaints deadlifting (movement, back strength, leg position) and front squat is more of a traditional back squat complimentary lift. It will strength your back a hell of a lot, but it takes a bit getting used to the uncomfortable feeling in the arms. as with all things technique man

My highest dead lift is 170 kg, that is so weak man LOL. But for sure if this helps with dead lifting then I will try it for sure!! As for the technique I will star light then move to heavier once I get the hang of it. Stay well

  • lower the rack, can use padding, somewhat wide stance. It doesn't seem to really hurt, but the more you can do, the stronger your abs are. Told someone who couldn't light weight, that he had weak abs.

  • @ohlethargie z squats originated from the floor actually picking the bar up from the floor into the squaring motion because there was no squat rack available... Alot of strongman athletes train them as an accessory or alternate movement from traditional or front squats because the load on the arms helps to develop holding strength for events such as the conans wheel...

    For other questions I've read on here yes it puts strain on the biceps and tendons... But it is a quality movement for develop

  • @OhLethargie good question, i am curious as well. i do front squats because of shoulder issues preventing me from back squatting. i like front squats but i just discovered zercher squats, i wonder about the advantages/disadvantages.

  • Clearly helps with conan's wheel. Must be a hell of a work on the abs too, the whole core really, maybe even more then front squats. How does the technique work on te biceps? I'm affraid to tear 'em up doing that somehow. Nice work man, by the way

  • The zercher will give you way more core stability strength. Helps with stones, conans, farmers, yoke, and any deadlifting event.

    I just started trying these and I was able to get 525 lbs for 1 rep off a 26 inch rack (the vid is posted). You're a lot stronger than me though...

    Is it harder to do from a rack, or starting with the eccentric stage?
