I agree to a point, but part of the point of xem's video is exactly about the point you made. but hearing what you're saying reminds me of how you hear some black ppl say well, "if we did nto do what we do the cops wouldn't have to target us", cleary we live in a world that has all different kinds of gays, so y don't we see them on tv, that's all xem is saying. it's evolution, the media treated ppl of color the same way back n the day.

The media like most institutions are in it to stay in business .....the bigger picture is that whatever sells is what will be promoted ........I would venture to say that NO "COMMUNITY" or sub-set will ever be accurately portrayed if it isn't the general societies perception of what the "community" is it is not portrayed ....from Roseanne to the latest stuff on LOGO....entertainment has to be exaggerated so we never get a true portrayal of anyone !!....Unless we look at HUMANITY!...with respect!

You're right. I think when we lump ourselves into "communities" we do more harm then good, However that is an entirely different topic, Maybe you can start the conversation on it

With one exception: some "communities" like the HIV one, DO NEED some special things, thats others don't.

So in that perspective I think they are intitled to ask for more attention. ;-)
