hes put australia into debt and raised house prices with that stupid home grad which is inflation in purest form and the only reason australia kept troops in iraq was because of a war agreement with NZ and USA so of course they are gonna go there
ok i take that to mean that you dont know jackshit about politics but you like rudd because he seems like a pretty clever fellow based on his ad campaign.
i back him because he is more globally aware then john howard (for example howard refused to sign the kyoto protocol and it was one of the first things rudd did) I also back him because he managed to do what john howard couldn't, say sorry to the stolen generation and he with drew our troops from Iraq. Not that its any of your business
well i guess rudds greenie side took a bit of nose dive when he came to power lol
oh and he took our troops out of iraq where they were not dying and sent them to afghanistan where they ARE dying. very clever rudd.
all rudd has done is do a lot of talk and jet around the world. he's almost completely spent all of the money howard saved up. maybe you'll get the opportunity to see how labor handles an economic crisis. ill give you a clue - they always blame everyone else
I agree, Rudd is pathetic. He takes the troops out of Iraq, and sends them into Afghanistan. Taxes are up, unemployment is in a high, he is going to purchase F-35 fighters from America, which Australia cant afford aswell.
John Howard was much better [Though he was shit aswell]
well i guess with politicians the saying about choosing the lesser of two evils really does ring true.
the stupidity of the iraq thing really irritates me. rudd is taking them out of iraq where they are not dying and sending them to a country where they are...
AHAHAHA your funny australia one of the richest countries... good joke :D
we are so bloody behind the rest of the world the bloody kiwi's could overun us. only reason we still hold power in this country is for 2 reasons 1: we are in the commonwealth and 2: America has formed a strong alliance with us.
dont get me wrong. I love australia; but you cannot compare the wealth and technology of australia with some of the -true- wealthy countries.
so many people suffered in silence under howard? not as many i bet as the thousands who lost their homes and jobs when labor was last in power and we got those lovely record high interest rates and the worst recession in decades.
australia can afford anything? do you live in your own fantasy world? EVERYONE was better off under howard. now i hope rudd doesnt screw it up during his time and we need another lib to fix everything
Get enough fuckos like shmoofles, who have absolute no understanding on politics, that's how deadshits like the tories grab power.Scary very, very frightening!!
that was...odd lol. Love Howard's face when costello sticks out his tongue....and that newspaper is an awesome representation of Australian views. Screw the politicians, our cricket team did well!!!
haha that bit how peter costello pokes hos tongue out was funny and how howard pulls that face back at him, and also how beazley comes in on harley~! lol
if you vote labour your an idiot, i dont need to know you. and if your a labour supporter i dont want to know you, seriously man its people like you that fuck australia over.
what a profound retort. Are you happy with Mr rudd? even though interest rates are still rising, property prices are going through the roof and the carers allowance has been scraped? Do you happen to remember his campaign? Oh yeh, he didnt have one. other than everyone gets laptops and free fast internet. i see he's followed through. Great, rudd said sorry to the stolen generation but what has he actually done to close the gap? nothing. he's a nothing. and your a nothing if you dont get that.
well of course interest rates are still rising, we have to counter inflation. The government dosnt control interest rates, the reserve bank do. Property prices are going through the roof because there is a housing affordability crisis at the moment, we can thank the liberals for that. As far as i see it, Ruddy has to clean up liberal mess.
Well guys thanks for the debate but the vid host deleted my meaningful and poinient arguments, so there no point contunuing. All I can say is god help you if you vote Liberals.
The reserve bank isn't limitless, and climate change isn't the only thing on the agenda. With money going into health, education, defence, energy and climate change, billions of dollars will go like that *snaps fingers*. Health alone will take billions of dollars to maintain and improve. Do you have any idea how epensive it is to run a country? Governments need to be very careful about tapping into their savings too much.
Renewable energy is a waste. 18% energy abosrbed from the sun. You will run the country dry trying to do that, Rudd will raise the taxes and GST to pay for it no doubt. Whats the point if he won't even address global climate change?
The only thing from the governemtn I would consider a scare campaign is their attempt to draw attention to the fact that Rudd's cabinet is mostly made up of ex-hardcore trade unionists. As important as unions really are for workers, they're not meant to run the country.
i always thought that poliiticks and all of that political crap was related to star wars in some way, but I never thouhgt that this fight between the old bag and the blonde guy would would relate to luke and darf. but anyways we should all elect chewbacca!!!!!
we need a party with aspects from both parties; one that helps the working class, but at the same time helps our economy. Either that or we could all be communist ^^ the we revolt and kill the governement and have a socitey with no government! GO CHAOS!!!!!
my right winged, conservative comment will probably be marked as spam because you guys cant think for your selves, you need to think what other people think, say what others say and do what others do. rudd isent the good guy just because he isent is power (thank god) and he hasent done anything wrong yet.
howard is not all that bad. kevin rudd is worse. people who cant think for themselves, especially around my age (late teens) will always be left wing because everyone else is, and every one else is because the people who start this just want something to complain about. i dont want an "L-plater" like kevin rudd as the leader of my country
our politicians may be complete ass holes at times and screw us over but they have helped us before...TO GO TO WAR!! bloody hell whats wrong with our government!?!?
Damn right. Unionists in the Cabinet, along with all the State governments being Labor too. Spells disaster for the economy.
And what policies have Rudd come up with on his own? He's made lots of promises, but has remained vage on how he plans to achieve them. 'Appropriate action now on climate change'? What the hell does that mean?
An "education reform!" So how will he go about this? "Ill give people computers... and stuff" Really Rudds pretty hopless. I havent seen anything new come from the ALP.
Mine wasn't a false quote. It was taken directly from one of Mr. Rudd's televised advertisements. I have not heard any truly solid plans come from Rudd for the future. Even his promises of action on climate change have already been put under suspicion because of his recent back-flip, saying that he won't sign Kyoto unless China does too. Bullcrap! At least under a Liberal govt. we have something solid to stand on!
Theres nothing solid to stand on; I'd like to see an example aside from Liberal propeganda and scare campaigns. And If you saw the right comment I wasnt saying your quote was false, I didnt even know you said anything.
Sorry, I thought your comment was referring to mine and Chaosmonger's. Still, at least Howard acknowledges that combating climate change will come at a cost, possibly a very high one. Rudd, like a typical Labour leader, has made a very expensive promise that many people will expect him to uphold. That means lots of money-spending, which means raised taxes, borrowing money from other countries, etc.
No, it means using money from the reserve bank (which holds billions of dollars), which the liberals havnt been doing. So if you understood it properly it makes no difference to taxes. Instead of putting it into imporant funding the lib gov just keeps slowly borrowing from it. And offcourse the climate change will cost money, between $12-30 dollars a year per person. Thats IF labor even decides to tax people.
As for the drought, there is a possibility that it isn't related to climate change at all. Don't get me wrong, climate change is a problem, but the stats suggest there has only been a slight temperature rise since 1998. Australia is a land where long droughts are relatively common. It was like this long before the climate change issue.
Possibly true, but Australia was a dry country loooooong before people even started using simple machines, let alone full industrialisation. Furthermore, industry has only popped into the southern hemisphere, let alone Australia, in the last 100 years or so.
Yes, Australia was a dry country, but not as dry as now; and thats a fact. Also, industry has been in the Southern hemisphere for ages. Brazil and latin America use an increible ammount of greenhouse gases, let alone the huge industry and slash and burning in indonesia. After that, the two most horrid polluters in the world, China and India, are both in the southern hempisphere, and have been pumping green house gases into our ozone for centuries.
Uh, CHina and India are both in the NORTHERN Hemisphere, although the bottom third of India does cross the equator. And China and India won't be burdened by emissions restrictions under Kyoto, but we will? What purpose will that serve for climate change?
And accepting the Kyoto protecall doesnt cost anything, but John Howard even denied that. This is the type of person who helps destroy our planet. And you are forgetting this years drought, the worst in history, just like last years. This is because of global warming, but John Howard wont even give farmers muchcompensation or put any plan into restoring the Murray. He even claled himself a climate change sceptical, why don't you look it up?
And no, it will not cost us to actually sign the Kyoto protocol, but it will effect us in other ways. It would force us to either change the foundations of our industry to make it cleaner, which would be extremely costly, or to cut back all together, costing lots of jobs. Also, the fact that China or India aren't required to cut don on emissions effectively removes Australia's ability to compete economically.
Anayway, Rudd has already said that he won't sign Kyoto unless China does, which is pretty much what Howard has been saying all along. Also, I doubt that Rudd has any intention of actually signing the protocol, but is using it as a gimmick to get support.
Didn't I just say that he said he won't sign Kyoto unless China does too? And as for the Solar panels, how many will be made? Where will they be placed? How much money is he willing to spend on solar panels, seeing as they're so freakin' expensive to produce? Tackling climate change is going to take more than solar panels, mate.
AHAHA...it seems the ppl on youtube realli like ruddy...positive comments about howard have multiple thumbs down, while ruddy's positive comments have multiple thumbs up
