@YungTigreDaKing V6 is 22. And it's substantially faster then this... SUBSTANTIALLY. Oh, I have an altima and love it so not hating. Just saying that your info is flawed.
CVT is was better at harnessing maximum engine power than a conventional gearbox. Especially with nissan's electronic control. The older ones sounded like they were slipping because they were designed like snowmobile clutches. The real drawbacks to the CVT are the horribly un-enthusiast sound it makes, the potential for belt slippage and they can only handle a few torques, HP is what they do best which is why the Altima is low(ish) on torques. The CVT is more modern. But its less fun.
i'm going to be honest i was in orlando this week and had a 2.5 altima as a rental car and i think its the worst sounding car i have ever heard, i don't know if it was the perticular car i was driving or all altima's in general but it was bad
Nice, Ya know, I actually never knew they had a coupe version until Spring..(wasnt in the market for a car and just never paid attention until it caught my eye when I parked next to a red one.)
I bought a black '10 Altima Coupe a few months ago and love it.
I just bought the 2.5 a few monthes ago and it out performs alot of v6 cars stock vs stock and has cool new looks im very happy with it myself and no-one who didnt already know would guess its a four cylinder it sounds great...and no u never need the key only need the remote on you but if the batt runs out you put the remote in a little port then push button as usual

@v1per808 too bad theres a gov limiter to altima. I cant pass 120 on my new altima an my old EX civic with stock 127 HP engine can hit well 127 MPH flat or 132 MPH lite down hill. If there wasnt that limiter i woulda pull over 140 MPH cuz i manage to do 144 MPH on 97 Maxima with lite tune. For my altima i do plan on building a good MPG type car an see how much i can pull out of it. So far i avg 510 miles in 18 gallon mark thats avg 28 MPG c/h. hope JP car bring back with FR sports car soon
@truehunter dude has a death wish. You also don't care how much your insurance goes up or how expensive your ticket is. You aren't on the autobahn. I don't buy a car based on how far over 120mph it can go.
@jeffhanson1 , there are tracks i use to go to. If you going to spend on a car you wanted the way it should be. Its as you say in part, regardless of the price but if you buy a Blu ray Drive/Rom that claim to run 8x speed but you get 4x speed your telling me your still happy. If you buy a nice refrigerator to keep your beer cold an claim it will make it cold but its still warm ?? its bagging for the buck regardless. If anything is downgraded they should reduce the price.
whats the song called??? Nissan Altima is awesome. People who talk shit don't know anything. It's a very reliable car, japanese, CVT engines are good. When it gets old past 10 years it will be amazing because in regular shifting cars they tend to wear down after 10+ years. I love that engine sound. So RACE CAR ee
4 cylinder is good if your aiming for fuel economy. Nowadays gas prices are like reaching back to $3 a gallon again it's ridiculous.
If you need a cheaper, softer, family sedan with low maintenance costs, low insurance, and low fuel consumption. If living up north also it is easier to drive on snow (FWD).
I can go on with reasons all day. The 350z is amazing but you're comparing apples or oranges here my friend. You can't just replace this car with a 350z, even though I prefer the 350z (actually the 370z) myself.
I agree with you on the fwd part because I live up north and use fwd in the winters, but this isn't the family sedan its a coupe thats why I was saying to go with a 350z instead of the 3.5 version of this coupe
Ahh yes my bad. Well some other things I'm sure still follow like maintenance, fuel, and insurance costs. Sadly the insurance goes up pretty much for every horsepower you have.
some dumb asstried to race me with one of these last night on the highway. My 9-3 ate him up like nothing. it was an azn dude and he put dual fart cannons on it.
exactly my point. the dumb ass had the 2.5l cvt and dual fart cannons on it...I mean how much more stupid can you get. Its so sad how ppl take a eco car and do that to it. i personally like how they look, but i would only get the 3.5l i cant stand cvt, can you imagine what it sounds like with dual fart cannons going down the highway stuck at 6500 rpm..He was gay and i shut him up.
what the fuck, you don't know what fart cars sound like if you think this car is one. i one the sedan version, and this is the least bad 4 cylinder i've ever heard. i'm not saying its as sweet sounding as the v6, but it does sound damn good for a 4 cylinder. and those "dual fart cannons" came standard to help improve perfomance. and this is not and eco car. if it was it would've come with the 1.8 liter on the cube. its for people that want better than most fuel economy with decent performance.
Are you retarded? did you even read what i said? I said he had Fart cannons on his car, they werent stock dumb ass. As in he out them on himself via muffler shop. the 2.5 cvt is nissan's eco version of the car dumb shit. they gave you the 3.5l 6 spd for performance...
Even with CVT you can drive it in a "simulated" standard mode, and to say the least it's a blast. CVT is piss poor on the pickup but using the standard fixes that.
The dashboard thing is all just because of the digital camera... I've taken pics of mine's interior and it does that too, depending on light, itll look blue or the white it really is. (though mine is manual :) )
how did you get the Blue Lighting on your Dash, instead of white lettering? i would like that for my 07 but it's hard to find things online for these cars.
I have a 3.5se and I can't feel any kind of shifting. However I do feel the jolt but I love it, it's that massive amount of torque letting me know it's going fast. :)
I just bought a 2008 2.5 S last week. It's black with black leather seats and sunroof. I love taking it to the highway. The trasnmission shifts as smooth as silk. It's hard to believe it's only a 4 cylinder.
as the proud of of a 2.5 and having driven both cars. i believe that the 2.5 handles better and isnt as nose heavy as the 3.5 granted i wish i had the 6 for performance but i got the injen intake and nismo exhaust and it pulls pretty good. not the fastest but decent and ive beaten SRT-4s and civic si's with the intake alone. so i believe credit is due to the 2.5 as well as the 3.5.
@DJNastie I find it hard to believe a 2.5 can beat an SRT-4 and even a Civic Si. Si's have a 100-200 lbs of savings on you, plus another 20+ hp. SRT-4 (Neon?) weigh 300 lbs less than your 2.5 Coupe, PLUS 50-60+ more hp. They may have not been flooring it, or were possibly wondering why this coupe is trying to go so fast on a Sunday. ;)
Lol I like how everyone with the new altima coupes with CVT always mentions CVT as if it was some high tech thing when in fact a manual would still own all
ive personally drove the 2.5 and i would rather go in debt and buy the v6 because i was surprised by the lack of performance and sound. it should atleast have better sounds. but this one sounds quite nice... the sedan sucks though. idk.
It's a stopwatch, not stopwatchER. Go read any professional review of the '07-'08 Altima. The 4cyl does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds while the V6 does it in about 6.
1) The steering wheel audio controls come as part of a package on the 2.5 S. It is not standard equipment. (2) Cruise control is standard w/ CVT models. (3) Audio jack is standard as well.
I modded my 2.5s with an Injen Intake system and the car can go from 0-60mph in 7.3 seconds on CVT mode. That really isn't band plus I can't afford the V6 so...
The V6 is $3000-$4000 more expensive than the I4. You can mod the 2.5S and make it become faster than the V6 by adding an after market intake system, chip, and turbos...
why the hell would you put turbos? on a car like this. just get the v-6 and be done with it. I'm sure turbos, intake and a chip would be more than $4000.
i have an I4 and i would never do that in my life... sure an intake but thats it.. A TURBO, (if it will ever be made will definatly cost more then 2 grand) and u wont get 100 HP from a turbo...
A coupe version of a sedan is just that. Nissan did go a step further in making the outside of the coupe share nothing with the sedan, but the power plants are always the same. nissan has the most powerful four cylinder in the market, the 2.5 litre is vvery impressive, go test drive one and find out
wuts the point of getting the coupe with only the 2.5 engine...no offense but thats kinda pointless....the coupe is made to go fast with the 3.5 engine its not goin anywhere with that engine
Maybe, if it's the sound of the engine when you floor it, but a CVT will give you more power when you need it without putting more stress on the engine/transmission.
It would be better to compare the transmission to a normal automatic. There is no substitute for a manual transmission IMO. The car does have a neutral position, yes. It actually has a manumatic option so that you can "fake" shift gears. I don't really get it since the car is basically one gear that runs on an expanding or contracting belt.
even thought its a cvt it actually has 6 gear ratios that the car shifts. it does it so smoothly its hard to detect. when u switch it in manumatic mode then ur able to control the 6 gear ratios.
even tho it is very hard to detect indeed there are six gear ratios that are used in auto mode. i have a 2007 altima 2.5. u can feel it. it doesnt shift like a regular automatic but u can feel when the ratios change and they are equivelant to the 6 gear ratios that are used in shift mode. it is very hard to detect but after driving one for a while im sure u'll agree
you cant really hear it revving to the rev limit of the gear youre on so would you have to solely look at the tachometer to know when to change gears?
I just got my altima coupe on the 30th of july i got the radiant silver and its the 2.5 the funny thing is that under full acceleration it pulls like a v6 and it sounds amazing!
thinking about getting this whip for my first car not sure tho

wuts the point of getting the coupe with only the 2.5 engine...no offense but thats kinda pointless....the coupe is made to go fast with the 3.5 engine its not goin anywhere with that engine
branbai 4 years ago
sry but my 3.5's got way more kik than that..

cuz cars werent made to rev like a weed wacker it ruins the whole point of floorin it
shizzTITSHIT123 4 years ago
Maybe, if it's the sound of the engine when you floor it, but a CVT will give you more power when you need it without putting more stress on the engine/transmission.

cvt is so stupid
shizzTITSHIT123 4 years ago
Why is cvt so stupid?
plar2007 4 years ago 3
Sexy sexy. These cars are great! I've got a red 2.5S with the CVT, and it shifts incredibly smooth. Love it!
FreeFallin1976 4 years ago
Yesur. It is a CVT. Much better transmission than I would have expected.
chris323i 4 years ago
I see. How do you "rev it up" does it have a neutral position?
Is it more efficient than a manual?
blondemax 4 years ago
It would be better to compare the transmission to a normal automatic. There is no substitute for a manual transmission IMO. The car does have a neutral position, yes. It actually has a manumatic option so that you can "fake" shift gears. I don't really get it since the car is basically one gear that runs on an expanding or contracting belt.
chris323i 4 years ago
even thought its a cvt it actually has 6 gear ratios that the car shifts. it does it so smoothly its hard to detect. when u switch it in manumatic mode then ur able to control the 6 gear ratios.
Damon1420 4 years ago
the car doesnt have 6 gears that it shifts in auto mode. the 6 ratios are only used when u go into shift mode
bp240 4 years ago
even tho it is very hard to detect indeed there are six gear ratios that are used in auto mode. i have a 2007 altima 2.5. u can feel it. it doesnt shift like a regular automatic but u can feel when the ratios change and they are equivelant to the 6 gear ratios that are used in shift mode. it is very hard to detect but after driving one for a while im sure u'll agree
Damon1420 4 years ago
search cvt transmission anywhere online and see what it says
bp240 4 years ago
i know what a cvt transmission is. go an 2.5 altima with the transmission and tell me if u'll agree or not.
Damon1420 4 years ago
actually, i have driven the new 2.5 altima and i gotta say im stickin to my original opinion
bp240 4 years ago
well driving it a couple times and driving it every day is a diff story so im sticking to my story as well.
Damon1420 4 years ago
you cant really hear it revving to the rev limit of the gear youre on so would you have to solely look at the tachometer to know when to change gears?
anthonyT01 4 years ago
does it have CVT or are you just REALLY hot with your left foot?
blondemax 4 years ago
It said it was a 2.5 with CVT at the start.

I just got my altima coupe on the 30th of july i got the radiant silver and its the 2.5 the funny thing is that under full acceleration it pulls like a v6 and it sounds amazing!
DJNastie 4 years ago
Sounds nice, I like how the muffler isn't too big because that makes a bad sound on 4-cylinders.
andoverpunx 4 years ago
Man that's an awesome clip you made, 5 stars for the production, and another 5 stars for the car!
mcheddadi 4 years ago
Gotta love it! Sounds awesome for a 4 cyl. Faster than average
