  • i remember this song included in our elementary book! we were taught to sing it in a classroom activity...

  • Every Filipino should be proud of these classics.

  • When I hear Sylvia and Conching Rosal sings, some tears automatically fall from my eyes as if they are juiced out with the feelings they put into their rendition of their songs. They're haunting...

  • galing talaga ni Ibyang. Sarap pakinggan, haaaaay....

  • apmech thanks for the upload. i wonder if you have "pakwan". i've been searching for this song but i cant find any. i believe it is in the same album with "kalesa" and "balot"

  • thanks for appreciating them Beaulah!

  • galing ah! sana ganyan me kagaling kumanta...

  • I heard your singing in your channel, you have a good voice too...

  • We got lots of these at home in the Philippines. I never thought it's that popular.

  • i Love Sylvia La Torre..I have a FLASHBACK of the good old days..Beautiful voice

  • Sylvia La Torre is really an excellent Soprano.

  • It grows in the southern east coast. I live in Savannah Georgia and I see these trees every now and then and it smells like Chanel in the summer time.

  • really? I expect them to grow on much warmer states like florida, couth california or hawaii...thanks for the info delftbrown!

  • I think it's the same as Ylang Ylang.. I've seen oil extracts from Organic Stores...

  • yes, it's the same one.. also use for medical purposes.

  • yep.. thanks! hehe the first time I saw a bottle of it it kinda took me awhile to read it.. then when I smelled it.. I was like Duh!! it's Ilang-Ilang.. lol

  • Thanks for your reponse and nice video.I might have smelled it once here in southern California: does it smells like jasmin with a hint of orange blosom with very light back notes of vanilla and pepper? the flowers were ivory color instead of yellow.

  • Anytime frecnhroast+. I just noticed that you are very detailed on describing flower scents and I'm not good on that. This flower has a very particular strong scent that you can tell right away there's some ilang-ilang in your room or you're standing next to the tree. As you can see in the video, mostly are green and become yellow when its older.

  • Maybe it also grows in south Cali for it's warmer there. But the ivory color flower might be the 'sampaguita' and the petals are really small compare to ilang-ilang.

  • Where does it grow?

  • Hi frenchroast+ ! It usually grows in some tropical countries of Asia. We used to have one in the backyard back in the Philippines.
