I thought my DVD collection was big until I watched some of your postings. Do you think you'll ever get around to watching all these? Such is my predicament...So many DVDs, so little time. Still, its nice to know they are there whenever I need them.
I asked on another video, how many Hitchcok movies you had. Well no need to answer now. I see. If you only have a few Hitchcock, those are the best to get. What film of his is your favorite. Mine is Vertigo. It's one of my favortie movies ever. Also you mentioned how Disturbia was a rip off of Rear Window and I completely agree, but do you think that Polanski's The Tenant kind of stole some stuff from Rear Window as well? It even has a shot from Rear Window in it. I love The Tenant though.
David Lynch is an amazing director. I'm currently making my way through my Twin Peaks DVD set, on the 18th episode atm. It's fantastic. The situation the Palmer family find themselves in is indeed a tragic one. That's all I have to say about that. :-p
YESSSSSS!!! Give me keepcases over snapper cases every time. Looks like Warner FINALLY wisened up to that and re-released a lot of stuff in keepcases, like what, TEN years later???
As do I, but I hate the new DVD cases where they're trying to be eco-friendly and making holes in the cases. To me, if they want to be eco-friendly and use less plastic, they should use the slim packs. You can fit at least 2 discs into the little fuckers.
Why, oh why do you have better looking covers there? My Lynch movies are pretty ugly, especially Twin Peaks: FWWM and The Elephant Man. Fucking awesome, those covers of yours.
Yep! The only reason I DON'T have that one yet is I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I also need to upgrade my Lost Highway, since they FINALLY released the widescreen version.
Dude, watch Touch of Evil! That movie is fucking amazing! It's Welles' second best (behind F for Fake, that is) and definately one of the greatest films ever made.
BTW, I like your selection of Lynch and Hitchcock. Keep up the good work.
Nope, that was directed by Billy Binglebat. HAHAHAHAH!!!! Yes, it was David Lynch. And I agree, it was awesome. I felt like my mind had been thoroughly fucked by the end of it. I still have to tackle Inland Empire.... Hmmm....weekend's coming up! :)
I'd sure like to acquire the Mike Hammer collection, haven't been able to track it down anywhere, Dave, can you reach out to a fellow cop show fan? I've got the Spenser movie collection, Ironside Season 1, Peter Gunn season 1, waiting on Cannon next month and The original Untouchables series, seasons one and two. Would love to get Mike Hammer, Barnaby Jones, High Incident, M Squad, Dan August and Longstreet into my collection, David, you have some terrific items in yours.
My name's Sean. Unfortunately, the only Mike Hammer that's bene released so far is what I have - the first two TV movies that preceded the series, and the 90's revival series. No word on the 80's series being released, though I'm also eager to get that one! Definitely want to get the original Untouchables, though I really wish they weren't doing the "half season" sets. That just seems overly greedy to me, since a half season seems to cost the SAME as a typical full season.
I highly recommend The Rockford Files, if you don't already have it! One of the all time great P.I. shows. :) Oh, and there's more Ironside coming, it was just announced recently.
Wild at Heart is excellent! Inland Empire is definitely an acquired taste even if you love Lynch. I thought I was a film nerd, haha, this collection is unreal
Thanks! As far as Inland Empire goes - I'm pretty easy to please as far as acquired tastes go, plus I've seen some of his early, REALLY weird stuff. I'm looking forward to it, from what little I've seen it looks like an interesting flick (and loaded with extras!)
david lynch is the shiznT....IM SORRY. I WAS BEATEN UP BECAUSE I LIKED CRASH. IM SORRY. IT ACTUALLY MADE ME EXCITED. SO FKING WHAT?lost highway....TOTALLLY UNDRERATED!!!!! thats all i have to say. Good soundtrack...goood story....wtf?
Lol! Wow, sounds like you've met your fair share of thick-headed morons in your time. Crash (I assume you're talking about the one where people get turned on by car crashes) was actually David Cronenberg.
Uh oh...here we go! "These are the Daves I know I know, these are the Daves I know..."
Ahem.
And yes, I also thought Lost Highway was excellent and don't get everyone's problem with it - why no widescreen version???? It's like the ONE Lynch movie not available in widescreen...
Muwhahahaha...it's funny, my collection actually overwhelms ME at times. "I fell like watching something...er.....uh....umm....I CAN'T DECIDE!!!!" :)
Ooooh, good question! Well, to ease you into his work gently, I would recommend some of his less "cryptic" stuff to start off with. Blue Velvet would be my first choice, simply because it has a lot of his trademark surrealism, but is still a fairly straightforward story. Plus it's just a great movie. :) Eraserhead is great to, but definitely more on the surreal side and might be a bit much to take in on first viewing. Elephant Man is beautiful, one of his few mainstream movies.
Dune is also a long time favorite of mine, I LOVE the visual design of the whole thing. Though if you're not familiar with the books, it can be a bit overwhelming on first viewing.
So my recommendation for your first David Lynch film would have to be Blue Velvet, hands down. It'll give you a good taste for his style, then if you like it move on to his more complex work like Mullholland Drive and Eraserhead. Oh, and make darn sure you watch Twin Peaks at some point! It's brilliant...
Most of the time I just fall asleep during movies. I do tend to like Jim carry, the main charactor in American Pie. I picked up some of his other movies like Loser.
im like now a fan of ur dvd utube vids and i pressed the button on ur channel that says "Add As Friend" and it didnt say invitation sent or anything and keep those cool vids comin dude! and u should get Birds of Prey the dvd will be released on the day dark knight comes to cinemas and what other dvds ur gonna buy next? friends: the one with all the seasons
Weird, I sent you a request so it should be good to go now. I'm looking forward to Birds of Prey - I can finally ditch my old bootleg set. And apparently, it IS going to include the alternate version of the pilot episode as well! :D
Lol! Can you tell I'm getting sick of all the remakes/reimaginings? The thing that irritated me about Disturbia, is they tried to pass it off as original. Oh, LATER they said "Oh, it's partly an HOMAGE to Rear Window..." Yeah. Right. Blatant MTV-ized RIP-OFF more like.
i got that evil dead book also
