  • This song is so special

it's the saddest song he wrote

    (It's still never released??)

Listen to this, I feel so much compassion for him, God bless his heart

  • Don't worry guys, he's not gay. He wrote this song about the son that he never had, hence the title: "boy I never knew"

  • @casaurius Why would Robert Smith being gay worry anyone but his wife? I'm sure plenty of people would be thrilled.

  • ésta cancion es tan penetrante.. siempre que la oigo me hace llorar, te amo Robert Smith <3

  • Lovely and genius, as always.

  • um...what is this song about!?

  • wat???????

    doode thats alot!!

    =(

  • Yea, but it's like what Elton John says: to be a successful rock star, you have to never stop taking risks... =(

  • doode a kid is a flippin gift!

    did robert want the divorce!

  • No, he's just a perfectionist... it's like the solo album he's been working on for more than a decade now... he's wont release something he feels is inadequate.

  • robert wanted 2 divorce mary?

  • No Robert loves Mary!

  • @arrisfilms

Of course, she's his wife, and Robert has a good heart... (oh, nothing...)

  • Robert and Mary did not want kids b/c they have a lot of nieces and nephews. I'm sure its not a literal translation of their lives. Some people are childless by choice and him and his wife are such people. Lovely song though!

  • I remember I read an article on some british mag about him not wanting to have kids just because he would feel terrible about having to tell someone what to do their entire lives. Something like that. I am sure it goes even deeper than that but I do know he's got plenty of nieces and nephews to cover it up!

  • His wife Mary did not want kids. He would've give her kids if she wanted them!

  • I've read somewhere that RS and his wife made an agreement very early on never to have kids...

  • I too wonder why the lyrics...maybe his wife had a miscarriage & they weren't able to have any childeren so he is wondering what if & they never knew ...it's a sad song..my sister had a little boy & at 2 he was diagnoised with a brain tumor & died at 3 she wrote a book called "my angel andrei"...this song is for him...& thanks Robert for such memories...

  • He has a wife, so no.

  • Is Robert Smith gay? Just wondering... i like the band and Robert and nothing against gay people. Just curious.

  • his wife is in the just like heaven video

  • I think he isn't, but... what happens if he is? Sorry, buts this is not important for me.

  • I was merely wondering because of the song... I might have taken the lyrics out of context.

  • Hmmm...I think you didn't understand the song...So, think it for a while...He has a wife, a good life, fifty years, and...NO CHILDREN! So, can you understand who is the song for? For 'The boy he never knew, and the man he'll never know'!

    Robert Smith gay, hahaha!

  • Aww...let us at least dream of the possibility >.>

  • Es una de esas canciones que te pone los pelos de punta...hermosa!

  • weno weno weno the cure reweno

  • I saw them play this last night in concert. Great!!!

  • simplemente eres increible no hay mas q decir te amooOOOO THE CURE ,ROBER SMITHS ERES LO MAXIMOOOOOOOO¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ ERES MI IDOLO .LO MEJOR DE LO MEJOR TUS CANCIONES M LLEGAN AL ALMA Y AL CORAZON Y ME TRANSMITE SENTIMIENTO Y LA CON SU MUSICA M LOKEOOOO

  • Didn't Robert Smith say he wrote this song to the son he never had? It would explain the title... and the lyrics.

  • I cry,I have a son, thanks to the vile courts,it's like I never knew him. With due respect Mr Smith,If I knew then what I know now,i would've never brought any child into this horrible world. Those who know, know. Robert Smith,to explain the passion of your songs, then and now, would be,impossible. You speak the words as if you have a son,you are an obvious rarity to humans.I'll think of your art as that, rare. Thanks to you,i've got hope for a 10year old boy,who I seemingly never knew,i cant give up.

  • But he hates, and not from me...And I'm helpless. My poor son.

  • excellent audio quality, great work on it! this new suggestive song reminds me (musically) to "The Last Day At Sea", "Numb" and "Out Of This World"... but like in every new Cure's song there is something new and something "you can't remember but you should say..."

  • I think you mean "The last day of summer", but I won't bother. You're absolutely right - couldn't agree more.

  • yes, you're perfectly right. "The Last Day of Summer" (one of the best "Bloodflowers" album songs)

  • reminds me on my son, this song....

  • NiCE COLLECTION THIS SONG MAKES ME WEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:(

  • Nice collection this song makes me weep!

  • great song, and a great photo, a fan like me...

    kisses

  • thanks...

  • heard it in hamburg 15-2-08, great song.

  • nice
