As a loyal , lifelong libertarian , I would just like to know one thing - what in the hell did Bob Barr do to secure the LBT nomination! This man supported the patriot act ( that he didn't even read ) - if you've "seen the light" as Barr claims , fine , work in congress to undo the damage you've done - but don't tell me that I should trust you as a legitimate LBT presidential candidate when you have nothing in your track record to prove that you merit that kind of trust.
Ron Paul having endorsed Chuck Baldwin (the Constitution Party's nomination) for president, I could easily see selecting a third party running mate, and reforming ballot access laws into ones candidates don't have to jump through hoops to get passed, but that all parties including Democrats as well as Republicans are equally held to.

O really? Because I dont remember an Iraq invasion as part of Bush's 2000 presidential campaign. And over the past 8 years I never recal having G-man knock down my door and steal my computer. So how are we going to solve the problem of not allowing a third, fourth, or fifth party into the Presidential debate's? I can honestly say that most people I know want a third party, but they literally don't have equal access. Mike Badnarik was freakin arrested going to the debate's and he was on the ballot in all 50 states. Our system is broken.
They system is broken, I wish no one would vote, that way we would stop laying into this governments charade and begin making some real changes... like forcing everyone in Washington to uphold their oath of office. In the near furutre America will wake up..I just hope it isn't too late.

IT IS NOT TOO LATE FOR BOB BARR! It doesn't take a smart person to see that Barr is by far the best candidate, and that only takes a few minutes of research to decide that. The Libertarians have become complete hypocrites. Nominating a guy because he would get the most votes, as opposed to someone that honors the principles of the party. But I thought thats why you guys always complained about the GOP?

Don't support Bob Barr. The Libertarian Party has lost its roots. Why is Barr deliberately trying to discredit the Ron Paul campaign? Why is he asking RP to be his VP when knowing he can't? Why did he openly refuse to join RP's Third party conference?
My fellow libertarians, we must accept that substance alone does not prevail in politics. The vast majority of Americans are uninformed so they vote for the guy who gives the best speeches or who they relate to most. If we are to ever compete we must combine substance with style. Bob Barr doesn't have what it takes. He is uninspiring, has a terrible voting record in Congress, and has raised less than $900,000 for his entire campaign. Ron Paul raised 5,000,000 in one day!
END CORPORATE CRIME! RENEW AMERICAN DEMOCRACY!! OPEN THE DEBATES!!!

What the hell is Bob Barr doing anyway? Is he actually campaigning seriously? I visit his site, youtube channel, myspace etc for updates but it doesn't seem like he's taking any real, relevant initiative.
The initiatives he's taking include providing a defense in a lawsuit by the McCain campaign in Pennsylvania (because the McCain campaign feels Barr's presence will "taint the process"),another lawsuit in Maine (the secretary of state refused to take thier filing documents), and filing a lawsuit in Texas, because while the Libertarian Party is forced to follow the letter of the law in filing thier papers, Neither McCain nor Obama filed in time, but Texas is sweeping the situation under the rug.
He sounds like a great politician, but he probably won't win because the Bureaucrats will fix the election. Either that or Bush will cancel it and declare absolute power.
I don't trust Bob Barr and would prefer to see Ron Paul on the Libertarian ticket, but that ain't gonna happen. Still, I'm voting for Bob Barr because I trust Obama and McCain even less.
Why don't you write-in Ron Paul? Even if Paul doesn't win, your vote will not be entirely wasted. It will still send a strong message to whomever--assuming anybody--is counting the ballots that you want real change.
I'm not too into this election, but I am very impressed with Barr. The only problem is, I just found out about him. He needs to get his message out and needs to get America's attention.
You have Obama's empty promises of hope and "inspirational" which is mere pandering to voters' emotions. I'm tired of seeing him and hearing him, a soft voice isn't going to "change" the country.
Mccain...don't even get me started.
Vote Barr and make people aware of him and that voting him isn't a "waste".
Beautiful video. Seeing the statue of liberty was especially moving. Bob Barr is the only candidate who stands for the constitution, bill of rights and small government, and he definitely has my vote in November.
Bob Barr would wipe the floor with Barack and Mccain in the debates, he is an intellectual powerhouse that is clear , concise and he knows the Constitution.
we all have to yell and scream and make our voices heard,
This is our Country, and we the people WANT BOB BARR IN THESE DEBATES !
This is bull! He is certainly not the only candidate to stand for small government. Our national security is at stake, and McCain has not only served his nation and government and military with his blood, sweat, and tears, he has worked across party lines. He has proven experience, and has put his nation ahead.
Our nation in these really CRITICAL times cannot afford some of the monkeying around going on. I stand by McCain. I believe in him. He has worked for all sides.
Honestly, McCain scares the shit out of me. Who knows what wars we'll get into under a McCain presidency. McCain is essentially a pro-war liberal. Then you have Obama the socialist.
Well he shouldn't! If you heard his speech last night, you would have heard his real story. 5 and 1/2 years in a prison of war camp, tortured, and still stick your men, and come back and serve your (often ungrateful) nation for the rest of your life. He knows more than most about the perils of war. You have misread this man. The war humbled him, and made him love his country and put it first. He is one of the true heros and of all of the candidates knows more than all of the horror of war!!!
No one will be able to get in without having to work with all sides. It will be McCain or Obama. I pray for our national security and our very freedoms it is McCain. You should too!

Heh, I can't believe all the support this guy is getting. The video even says he supports individual liberty, but his track record shows the opposite. Don't be fooled, look this guy up before you before you fall for his rhetoric. He needs to prove he is actually socially liberal before he goes anywhere as a Libertarian.
I agree that his track record is not near as sound as say Micheal Badnarik. Barr even openly admits that, says that it was and epiphny that just hit him. Hey thats what happened to me too about 6 years ago. I just got up one morning and decided enough is enough and someone has got to do something about it. So i can relate.
This was a great video. It's a shame that Barr won't be on the West Virginia state ballot. I'm 25 years old and I'm inspired to help change this country. I have studied history, economic systems, politics and social systems most of my adult life; yet, I've never voted for a president. There has not been a candidate in my adult life worthy of a vote, and the one time there is, he didn't "qualify" for my state's ballot.
we are divided because we believe this ( certain interpretation )is what the founding fathers wanted? We know there is a problem do that first, otherwise we postpone it no matter who gets into office. Problem is America left the founding fathers, how it is going to be done, that is beyond me.
Oh, I had just meant that as an analogy. It's not so much that the parties want to restore America to the way it was in their time, as that they believe that our government needs to shrink, not grow, returning to a limited government similar to what the Constitution originally shaped. Big government from Great Britain was what influenced the Founding Fathers to set up a limited government; big government with deficit spending is influencing these two third parties to try to cut back.
It doesn't really matter, its always the person with the money makes the rules. Hire a bunch of ph.d. or lawyers and and make them argue for them or if they see a social group they like, they fund it and let it take off.
The Constitution Party? That's Chuck Baldwin's party.
The Constitution Party and Libertarian Party both share a similar inclination toward limiting government and adhering more strictly to the literal wording of the law, but the Constitution Party generally includes more social conservatives. If you were to ask whether the Founding Fathers would be social liberals or conservatives, Libertarians say they'd be liberals and Constitutionists say they'd be conservatives.
very interesting. I once stated because everyone has an image of themselves, a particular belief or conclusion about a particular thing - when these two divided person meet, natural conflict occurs because they are bringing the conclusion about the problem not the solution if you do experiment the problem to get the truth. I see a new vision now- someone who is totally reborn will unite the people.
Bob Barr and Ron Paul are fake Libertarians. No true Libertarian would be pro-life, pro-DOMA, or against separation of church and state. Those two are more like "republitarians".
Dude, their personal beliefs do not make them non-libertarian. Libertarians believe in self-ownership and self-government. Libertarians aim to shrink big government, federal government. By being pro-DOMA, they are anti federal law making one state law follow another state law, thus small government. As for being pro-life, that is his choice just as you have yours. That is the beauty of freedom and liberty - you can choose! If one was pro-abortion, you could counter argue the baby's rights!
Believing and voting against civil liberties in things like reproductive rights, DOMA, and church/state seperation is being against a very important part of libertarianism. You said it yourself, "Self-ownership". Also, how can you want smaller government, yet want the government to tell you what you can and cannot do with your own life/body/beliefs?
Voting against DOMA is about keeping the federal government out of our lives, not necessarily approving the state government to abuse our civil liberties. You are putting words in my mouth. I do want smaller government and i do not want the government to tell me what to do. In fact, the government should not consider ANY marriage in any consideration because my marital status, whether be with a man or woman should have NOTHING to do with anything the government considers when dealing with me.
You are right, voting against DOMA IS about keeping the fedgov out of our lives. Barr wrote it! It goes with the MANY other anti-libertarian views he has like voting to start war in Iraq, banning Wicca in the military, and at one point a stong proponent for the war on drugs. He is an opportunistic conservative Republican pretending to be a Libertarian.
As for marriage, I agree, but DOMA doesn't do that. It simply does that for same-sex marriage and takes away the benefits that come with it.
I don't know if Bob Barr has chosen a VP yet but it would be great if he chose Ron Paul (and he accepted)... Or at least he could hopefully be at least endorsed by him.
Im ashamed to say that this is only my 2nd Bob Barr video. Im definitely voting for this guy. Gotta donate as well. Tomorrow Ill start spreading the word to everybody just like I did with Paul. Thank God for the internet!
oh, and do a little research. Bob has been working to protect our privacy since leaving office. He is the only politician that will make a stand.
We can't have Paul because he quit the Libertarian Party and is pretending to be a republican to help our country. He has had to pretend to be a republic even though at heat, he is a true libertarian.
These are both people who are talking about the issues standing behind their stance and doing the right things which are admirable actions.
Everyone is complaining about Bob Barr's history. But let's look at what he's done which is unprecedented in a candidate. He's actually admitted to making a mistake and he's trying to fix it.
Hillary lost a lot of respect in the primaries because she wouldn't admit she made a mistake in the past. Here's a candidate that says I screwed up, what can I do to fix it. He should be judged by his actions today.
Are you proud of all your choices from 10 years ago?

The Nomination of Barr was unfortunate, It could of been a watermark year for libertarians if they hadn't nominated a Republican shill. If Barr really wants to help the country he will spend his days calling Ron Paul telling him "please run, I'll step aside".
I like Barr's rhetoric but there isn't enough days in between now and election day to undo his record.
I was a big Ron Paul supporter and like Barr's message but this election is just too important to waste our votes by "sending a message." I absolutely can't stand McCain but we cannot let Obama anywhere near the White House. I love this country too much than to be responsible for a Marxist sitting in the White House.
What you have to understand is that they are both on the same party - the council on foreign relations. Democracts / republicans - they're all corrupted and infiltrated. If you vote for one, you vote for the other. So the only real choice is to send a message or vote for the status quo. There is no more a wasted vote than on that they want you to vote for - which is - EITHER mcain or obama. Same beast, different head.
cgraham, wars won't be free, but rather only to protect freedom. Not profits. Barr has a history and some issues I don't agree with, but at lease he has spent the past few years working to rectify his errors in office. That is important. He has repented and is working to seek his bretheren in DC todo the same. And that's bad how???
less taxes and spending? i guess wars will be free once he's in office, eh? go right ahead buddy. keep living in your fantasy world where politicians mean what they say even though the numbers don't add up.
Tell me this pal, How is McCain going to spend less, when he plans to expand the military, better equip our troops, advance military technology, and amplify the surge. He will have to destroy every single handout program that there is, and I would imagine that we would still be coming back in the red. He also claims that he is going to balance the budget, such a claim is laughable and contradictory to his other stances.

Don't support Bob Barr. The Libertarian Party has lost its roots. Why is Barr deliberately trying to discredit the Ron Paul campaign? Why is he asking RP to be his VP when knowing he can't? Why did he openly refuse to join RP's Third party conference?
FlashVirus 3 years ago
My fellow libertarians, we must accept that substance alone does not prevail in politics. The vast majority of Americans are uninformed so they vote for the guy who gives the best speeches or who they relate to most. If we are to ever compete we must combine substance with style. Bob Barr doesn't have what it takes. He is uninspiring, has a terrible voting record in Congress, and has raised less than $900,000 for his entire campaign. Ron Paul raised 5,000,000 in one day!

What the hell is Bob Barr doing anyway? Is he actually campaigning seriously? I visit his site, youtube channel, myspace etc for updates but it doesn't seem like he's taking any real, relevant initiative.
I can't help but prefer Ron Paul after all.
StubbornCanary 3 years ago
The initiatives he's taking include providing a defense in a lawsuit by the McCain campaign in Pennsylvania (because the McCain campaign feels Barr's presence will "taint the process"),another lawsuit in Maine (the secretary of state refused to take thier filing documents), and filing a lawsuit in Texas, because while the Libertarian Party is forced to follow the letter of the law in filing thier papers, Neither McCain nor Obama filed in time, but Texas is sweeping the situation under the rug.

littlemisspissy 3 years ago 2
Why don't you write-in Ron Paul? Even if Paul doesn't win, your vote will not be entirely wasted. It will still send a strong message to whomever--assuming anybody--is counting the ballots that you want real change.
Snobert99 3 years ago
I'm not too into this election, but I am very impressed with Barr. The only problem is, I just found out about him. He needs to get his message out and needs to get America's attention.
You have Obama's empty promises of hope and "inspirational" which is mere pandering to voters' emotions. I'm tired of seeing him and hearing him, a soft voice isn't going to "change" the country.
Mccain...don't even get me started.
Vote Barr and make people aware of him and that voting him isn't a "waste".

This is our Country, and we the people WANT BOB BARR IN THESE DEBATES !
quietstorm403 3 years ago
what percentage does someone need to get into the debates?
Im down with a Baldwin/Paul or Barr/Paul vote, that would win the election.
mikelunz 3 years ago
This is bull! He is certainly not the only candidate to stand for small government. Our national security is at stake, and McCain has not only served his nation and government and military with his blood, sweat, and tears, he has worked across party lines. He has proven experience, and has put his nation ahead.
Our nation in these really CRITICAL times cannot afford some of the monkeying around going on. I stand by McCain. I believe in him. He has worked for all sides.
SparklestheClown 3 years ago
Honestly, McCain scares the shit out of me. Who knows what wars we'll get into under a McCain presidency. McCain is essentially a pro-war liberal. Then you have Obama the socialist.
lipservice0 3 years ago 4
Well he shouldn't! If you heard his speech last night, you would have heard his real story. 5 and 1/2 years in a prison of war camp, tortured, and still stick your men, and come back and serve your (often ungrateful) nation for the rest of your life. He knows more than most about the perils of war. You have misread this man. The war humbled him, and made him love his country and put it first. He is one of the true heros and of all of the candidates knows more than all of the horror of war!!!
SparklestheClown 3 years ago

Heh, I can't believe all the support this guy is getting. The video even says he supports individual liberty, but his track record shows the opposite. Don't be fooled, look this guy up before you before you fall for his rhetoric. He needs to prove he is actually socially liberal before he goes anywhere as a Libertarian.
jstutz2003 3 years ago
I agree that his track record is not near as sound as say Micheal Badnarik. Barr even openly admits that, says that it was and epiphny that just hit him.

It makes me sad and pissed off that ...
This country is not what I was taught it was, not what I independently learned it was, and not what I BELIEVED it was.
hokieneer17 3 years ago 3
we are divided because we believe this ( certain interpretation )is what the founding fathers wanted? We know there is a problem do that first, otherwise we postpone it no matter who gets into office. Problem is America left the founding fathers, how it is going to be done, that is beyond me.
dan020350 3 years ago
Oh, I had just meant that as an analogy. It's not so much that the parties want to restore America to the way it was in their time, as that they believe that our government needs to shrink, not grow, returning to a limited government similar to what the Constitution originally shaped. Big government from Great Britain was what influenced the Founding Fathers to set up a limited government; big government with deficit spending is influencing these two third parties to try to cut back.
sbrennan08 3 years ago
It doesn't really matter, its always the person with the money makes the rules. Hire a bunch of ph.d. or lawyers and and make them argue for them or if they see a social group they like, they fund it and let it take off.

willyjones7 3 years ago 2
what about the party that begins with a C ?
dan020350 3 years ago
The Constitution Party? That's Chuck Baldwin's party.
The Constitution Party and Libertarian Party both share a similar inclination toward limiting government and adhering more strictly to the literal wording of the law, but the Constitution Party generally includes more social conservatives. If you were to ask whether the Founding Fathers would be social liberals or conservatives, Libertarians say they'd be liberals and Constitutionists say they'd be conservatives.
sbrennan08 3 years ago
very interesting.

Those two are more like "republitarians".
jstutz2003 3 years ago
Dude, their personal beliefs do not make them non-libertarian. Libertarians believe in self-ownership and self-government. Libertarians aim to shrink big government, federal government. By being pro-DOMA, they are anti federal law making one state law follow another state law, thus small government. As for being pro-life, that is his choice just as you have yours. That is the beauty of freedom and liberty - you can choose! If one was pro-abortion, you could counter argue the baby's rights!
FlGHTFORLlBERTY 3 years ago
Believing and voting against civil liberties in things like reproductive rights, DOMA, and church/state seperation is being against a very important part of libertarianism. You said it yourself, "Self-ownership". Also, how can you want smaller government, yet want the government to tell you what you can and cannot do with your own life/body/beliefs?
jstutz2003 3 years ago
Voting against DOMA is about keeping the federal government out of our lives, not necessarily approving the state government to abuse our civil liberties. You are putting words in my mouth. I do want smaller government and i do not want the government to tell me what to do. In fact, the government should not consider ANY marriage in any consideration because my marital status, whether be with a man or woman should have NOTHING to do with anything the government considers when dealing with me.
FlGHTFORLlBERTY 3 years ago
You are right, voting against DOMA IS about keeping the fedgov out of our lives. Barr wrote it! It goes with the MANY other anti-libertarian views he has like voting to start war in Iraq, banning Wicca in the military, and at one point a stong proponent for the war on drugs. He is an opportunistic conservative Republican pretending to be a Libertarian.
As for marriage, I agree, but DOMA doesn't do that. It simply does that for same-sex marriage and takes away the benefits that come with it.

oh, and do a little research. Bob has been working to protect our privacy since leaving office. He is the only politician that will make a stand.
We can't have Paul because he quit the Libertarian Party and is pretending to be a republican to help our country. He has had to pretend to be a republic even though at heat, he is a true libertarian.
These are both people who are talking about the issues standing behind their stance and doing the right things which are admirable actions.
bawest 3 years ago 6

I was a big Ron Paul supporter and like Barr's message but this election is just too important to waste our votes by "sending a message." ljrahn 3 years ago
