I do this some. I've won money doing this. My horse must be deaf from all the revolvers being fired right by his head. Being my luck, I'll probably slip and shoot my horse in the head on accident. lol That would suck.
i am also a mounted shooter and i have a ruger new vaquero montado. it is specially designed by ruger and it has a 3 1/2 inch barrel so its short and its so easy to handle. longer barrels are tougher

Fantastic video! I'm a quick draw shooter, and will be a mounted shooter once my horse is ready. I'm curious, do most people shoot a long barreled pistol for more reach with the powder, or are the short barrels handier for drawing and reholstering?
the shorter barrel is a little easier to handle on horseback. You can go to a couple of shoots and try different guns, most of the people will let you try theirs.

She had never heard of it, and even after downloading all the information from the MCSA website she needed some video to help get the whole picture. Now we have a gameplan!

i would like to get into this sport i live in sw,va and have 2 real good cutting horses and if you use real guns i have that too 2 ruger vaquero's in 45 lc please let me know who i have to call to get started!!!
Thank you. Im not sure how it stayed as clear as it did. I only used a digital camera but is was 12mp. I used iMovie to put it together and i exported it using expert settings. It usually still keeps the video clear and small enough to upload.

I believe the Montado has a 3.75 inch barrel.

i am a competitive mounted shooter, and from what I know a shorter barrel often helps as far as holstering the gun.
