is it the smoke unit in the train or is there a sound bored, seems too old for a sound bord.

yes, the smoke unit in the train makes the chuff noise. theres a small piston that works off the drive wheels,,it makes the noise and also pushes the smoke out the stack from the smoke chamber. Thanks
