  • 0:26 to 0:40 best part of the clip :)

  • I don't think I've ever seen a Charlie solo before. HOWEVER, it does not take a solo to be a great drummer. This mans time is impeccable.

  • charlie worst drummer ever lived !!! zero musicality zero technique, only a lucky man who playied with THE STONES for so many years !!!!!!!!!

  • @giosmrbig fuck you!!

  • @giosmrbig Fuck you !!

  • yeah watts was an integral part of their sound.getoff my cloud being on fine example

  • Why does Charlie Watts hate to take a solo? Out of all the 'rock' and 'jazz' instruments, the drums not only drive and set-up the band, the drums bring the primordial impulse to dance, and to hate to do something that has such a long history on the instrument, a solo, makes no sense. It's like if Eddie van Halen said "I don't dig solos, I just accompany the music." Hmm...not buying it.

I think most people like Charlie because he would be a cool hang; but the drumming is less satisfying.

  • In answer to StixH's question, yes the other drummers are Jack Parnell and the late, great, Kenny Clare.

  • Are the other drummers Kenny Clare & Jack Parnell?

  • Why did Charlie get together with two drummers who are way better than him? I still can't see the point in it!

  • foda se

  • Charlie is one of the best rhythm and blues drummer ever and a good swing drummer too. His way to play is fine, tasteful and he never overplays.

In this video it seems like he's improvising and the other two drummer knows very well their part.

He continusly turns his head and looks to them because he doesn't know what is going to happen.

I have always refused to play in such hard situations, I can't understand why Charlie accepted to do it.

    Bucks, it think.

  • porra

  • charlie porra!

  • charlie!!!!!!!!!

  • porra

  • charlie é o cara porra!

  • charlie é foda porra!

  • grande charlie!

  • grande charlie!

  • Charlie is like BB King. Neither one is flashy or fast, but they say a lot with minimal thrashing and no displays of histrionics.

Kinda like relaxed Zen masters: "There's nobody here worth trying to impress, folks...please keep moving."

  • Charlie is the MAN...Who are the two Buddy Rich impersonators?...

  • No one has the feel that Charlie offers. Not every drummer has to play like Tony Royster Jr., or neil peart to be effective. Without the sound and pulse of Charlie Watts, there is no Stones. End of story.

  • @stevedrums GREAT PIONT !

  • charlie is charlie...the stones wouldn't be anywhere without him..,best rhythm ever

  • I used to think he wasn't as good as people said, but then I LISTENED...try it sometime...I've been a professional drummer for 20 years.

  • @giosmrbig : stai esagerando.

Saluti :-)

  • @giosmrbig Sono d'accordo!!!

  • fuck you ! suck my cock!

  • I don't think I've een footage of Charlie doing a solo. Very nice surpirse to see.

  • Charlie had such a great rthymn and timing. He never overdid the fills. Alot of his playing is a jazz beat on the Stones songs. He is Lord of The Manor!!!

  • How many great drummers were jazzmen at heart...Watts, Densmore, etc.....

  • Never knew Watts could solo like that, Watts,Bonham, Moon, what gets better then that1

  • Watts is great....the other 2 guys suck elton johns cock.....again.

  • Charlie is the man!!!!!

  • Charlie...Kenny Clare and who's the other gent ?

  • OH... OK Jack Parnell.

  • what year is this?

  • This was filmed in the late 1970's around 77 or 78 I remember watching it on TV.

  • This is really unusual since charlie hates drum solos but awesome nevertheless

  • WHOA CHECK OUT THAT RAW ENERGY

  • More drum solos on youtube. Charlie in a good company.

But he would have been more relaxed sans the stupid necktie.

    Panta rei

  • Who were the other two real drummers in this video.

Don't get me wrong I think Charlie is a major rock & roll drummer.

  • wow, charlie doesnt rock out like this with the stones, he just plays awsome steady beats

  • WTF?! Charlie kicked major ass!! :|

that drumset is way more beautiful than the current one, too bad that currently he looks like more... stiff? I don't know which would be the word but anyway, I never saw him soloing, it's great.

  • Charlie remember when you asked my brother-in law in Leeds Yorkshire how to do a roll ? THE DINGOS 1961 Those were the days

  • Are you joking? Is it true?

I read in a book he was in the early '60s "the best young jazz drummer of london".

  • Absolutley they played for $15 dollars at Leeds and were Booded off the stage...My Brother-in law's Group was

known as the "Dingos" most popular group in the North of England ..Read ' Bradfords Rock & Roll' By Derek Lister Amazon ISBN 0-907734-26-X for the whole story ...(I could have had the Beatles playing at my club for $1500.00 in those days...) All true..one of our band members even wrote Roy Orbison's hit "Penny Arcade " and we sold it to him for $10.00 and all the beer we could drink

  • Charlie soloing!!!! Great!! -Although he

did actually play some "soloish" fills the past summer in Helsinki when Mick introduced the band. And after folloing his career intensively at least the past 35 years, I can say that he has improved and is today playing technically better than ever (at 66 years age.... oh yeah... Charlie is good tonite - ain't he!!

  • Wow, this is interesting. I have never seen Charlie solo. He is really an acolate of Dave Tough and one can tell from this.
