Every release of OS X from it's beginnings has never been more that $139.00 and snow leopard is only $50.00 and the OS does everything and comes fully featured out of the box... including being able to connect to a domain controller...
I can't help but compare W7 with snow leopard... If you get the home edition, your screwed if you try to connect to a domain controller or stand alone server...
Which version do you recommend, and how much does it cost?
I switched over to Linux Ubuntu, and Linux Mint... and I run Windows XP, and Windows 7 in Virtual Machines... and I run Mac OS on my HP / PC inside vmware...
Not BS at all. I had some issues at first just because I didn't really read the directions haha. But it took alot longer than most peoples. Probably just my computer
I disagree i have 4gb ram i installed windows 7 x64 ultimate, i hated it. it was buggy things crashed, the volume controls took 13 seconds to open, the bootup and shutdown is 2 long, ive installed Vista x86 Ultimate now i only have 3.3gb ram available to use, but hell its a lot faster more stable, my games run better and it looks a lot nicer and the aero actually looks nice in 7 it looks like they rushed the aero effects when closing/opening a window.
I agree, but as an ex Mandriva user, I must tell you that Mandriva sucks balls. Fedora, Crunchbang, and OpenSuSE would all be better Ubuntu alternatives.
i had a friend put windows 7 on my 4 year old slow dell and it made it twice as fist it was crazy but i must say with snow on it it is faster then widows 7.
Hi, I don't know why poeple are complaining about Windows Vista, I am running the Ultimate and Premium Editions and they both run well, they both boot up and shut down as quickly, I do all my regular maintenace and I don't have any problems, the only thing I see annoying with Vista, it's NOT USER FRIENDLY :(, too many clicks to accomplish tasks, I thought Microsoft aimed at USER FRIENDLYNESS with all there opperating systems, but when they developed Vista, that went all out the Window :( Cheers
I understand your point. You are right, Vista wasn't 100% horrible, but from someone who was an XP user, its pretty bad. Windows 7 is 100x better. There were actually things I liked about Vista, but not enough things to make me like the OS as a whole. Windows 7>XP>Vista.
Hi again, I am sorry, I have to dissagree with you, I have been supporting Windows since 3.11 for work groups and I have XP, I have all the OS's, Vista has more security features than XP, but like I said, Microsoft forgot about "USER FRIENDLYNESS" too many clicks to accomplish simple tasks, this is one of the main draw backs with there new OS, they also need to fix there sound controls, I been BETA TESTING there product and have asked to have this fixed with NO LUCK once again. Cheers :)
Well we will have our disagreements =) Im not against Windows at all. or Vista for that matter. I just think Windows 7 is a much better OS then Vista was and I think it will end up replacing XP. But then again, then is from an everyday Mac user, what do I know =)
Hi Again, I am saying that Vista is "not bad" its better than XP because of the extra security, and YES Windows 7 is a BIG improovement over Vista, XP is better than Vista because its easier to use, but don't say Vista is really BAD, because it's NOT, my copy of Vista on both my machines works well and don't cause me any issues because I do my regular maintenance on a daily basis, yes I do get glitches now and then but I am able to fix them, every OS gets glitches, lets face it. Cheers :)
You make a good argument. Personally, I just don't find Windows that reliable (until Windows 7). My personal preference is Mac OS X simply because its reliability, speed, and simplicity. But everyone has their own opinion. Windows 7 is definitely setting the bar though. It is a great OS.
The speed of an OS is due in part to many factors. One of them is your hardware, another is the level to which you're taxing your system. A hardware decked out Mac will run like Hermes on speed, while a cheap, out of the box floor model can't do half the stuff that my $700 Toshiba can. Like I said, a big factor of OS speed is whats under the hood.
Not to say I don't like Macs, I do. I'm just pointing out a factor your comment missed :P
@MagicBytes Yeah I agree with you Magic I have Toshiba Vista laptop that's still ging strong has slowed down a little but still fast. I think Vista's biggest problem is it requires a lot of ram which is why my latop is 2gb dual proccessor.
SUCKS

I wish to recant a little... I do like WIndows 7 Pro / Ultimate very much and think it is definitely a major improvement from Vista.
I think that Home Premium is a total waste of money and time, MS should drop it from their product line.
Cheers...

Comment part 1:
liked your review, thanks.
I think MS's release of more mediocraty will help sell more snow leopard for sure.
I too have XP Pro loaded on my MacBook pro which I too like a lot...try doing that on your $700 toshiba ... :-P
