You really cant judge a book by its cover... and "they have more hits" sure but they also have almost 10 more albums, and 6 more years, overall if you take the amount of songs that could be considered hits on the 6 (I believe) studio albums the doors made, and the 12-14 albums the beatles made, the doors definatly win.

I listen the doors and i like their music very much. And the voice of Jim is far interesting for me than Lennons or Cartneys. Nothing against these guys but beatles are not very interesting for me in anything... Sometimes i hear some songs but it is not just my tune. And i also think that Beatles were way overrated. All I can say is that the two bands brought great music to many generations, in their own way. Doors are my favorite. Jim Morrison makes everything so spicy or not bland. And more over, every song I heard from them I got into. The long songs and instrumentals remind me of Pink Floyd(I love)

The Beatles on the other hand, are unique, the most influential band. No band had the songwriting technique, experience, and talent that McCartney and Lennon had. Not to mention, they were the first of everything.

But the Doors are unique. First band to have a keyboardist as a bass player. And a lot of people know Jim Morrison. I prefer the Doors but the Beatles will always be the most important. They were the first.

To be honest, I like the doors a bit better. But when your doing a comparison not based on personal opinion and on statistics. Beatles win no doubt. Most number 1 hits. Lasted only 7 years and holds records for MANY things. The most influential band of the 60's and 70's. And invented things like the music video and brought that style of Rock n Roll for decades to come. They are truly legends. But in my opinion I like the Doors more.
